Check out www.wiggle.co.uk for wetsuits, they sometimes have them in their sale, or you can also look at www.ratrace.co.uk (if you stay near them they have a swim-lab as well as a run-lab for trying the wetsuits!)!!!

If you're running 6k comfortably then there's probably not much point in going backwards to the C25K app, you could look at a C210K app and start from (probably) week 8 or 9 and use that to build up to 10k?? Or as someone else has already suggested fartlek/interval training you could use the C25K app for interval training…

You'll be able to run a 5k without stopping, might just take you longer to get to that stage, it does depend on why you are doing, are you doing it just to add another type of exercise to your week or are you training for a specific 5k event?? Think about flipping it round the other way, if you only done TKD once a week…

What do you mean when you say Tour (is it similar to a training holiday where you are coached throughout the holiday or is it an A to B type tour over 8days)?? I've not run for 8 days in a row before and whilst I'm training for a marathon and averaging about 40miles a week I wouldn't class myself as an endurance athlete.…

Having had shin splints myself (too much, too fast and not the proper shoes) I wouldn't push through the pain, shin splints if they are back enough can actually end up in hair line fractures, (not going to mention shoes as you've said you'll get them looked at) Change you're runs to fast walks, or try jogging and if the…

Speak to a personal trainer, we have a girl that comes to our Womens Weights class that has Hypermobility and her shoulder dislocates in her sleep, she's been starting very carefully on the assisted pull up, she can do squat and press on a low weight (she's trying to build the muscle up surrounding the rotator cuff to help…

Hydration will also help with the retaining water, make sure you stay hydrated whilst working out. My weigh in day has always been the day after a long run day anyway so whilst my weight might have been higher on the 1st weigh in, it's also been on the same basis ever since so I see that I'm losing weight and the weeks…

My ridgeback cover approx 140miles with me in March, what you do have to take into account is that your time will be 'off' if you're running with a dog, I run trails with him (he's a large breed so I'm not personally keen on him pounding the pavements) so he's off leash most of the time, but I have to slow down and either…

If you go onto the losing weight thread I'm sure there will be loads of people on there that drank soda every day, it's empty calories, just sugar in water, no idea what Redwing is, but fizzy drinks like cola, irn bru, fanta etc don't actually have any fat in them but are very heavy in the sugar and light in any nutrition.…

I would say that you're not hungry but not that you'll eat it later, that just encourages her to continue, refuse to eat it and letting it go to waste would probably be more effective. Personally I also wouldn't be allowing my son to up his junk food intake purely because you are staying with your mum, junk food (donuts,…

This could almost be classed as child abuse, something really needs to be done with these industries:(

Whilst you say you have a good make of shoes, did you get fitted for them and get gait analysis done?? Can stress enough how important the CORRECT shoes are, if you haven't already done so go to a running shop and get put on the treadmill to have your gait analysed (I always take my last pair of running shoes with me so…

I seen a post on FB the other day that made me laugh I RUN, I may be slower than a herd of tortoises stampeding through peanut butter but I still RUN Running is a physical act that can be differentiated from Walking (walking being 1 weight bearing foot on the ground whilst the other is in the air, running is where both…

You sure you didn't move to Glasgow, I caused hysterics in the cinema watching The Hobbit when I commented to my friend during the scene in 1st movie where they have been captured by the trolls that they must have filmed that in Glasgow on a Saturday night!!! You should look at Walk The West Highland Way (you can camp but…

Yep, I'm frightened of running marathons, but it's more the 26.2miles that I have to cover to get to the finish line that scare me, needless to say I've entered one anyway (it seemed like a good idea last year), I'm now less than 7.5 weeks away to the start date!!! There has been an incident at 1 marathon, The New York…

So you want you to do more on less fuel, think of your body as a machine, if you want a machine to do more/go further you're going to have to put more fuel in for this to happen. So you've only been doing this a week because you want to lose weight, unless you are planning to become anorexic and all the issues that go…

So when they done the gait analysis did they advise a neutral or anti-pronation shoe, I would recommend going to a running shop to get the gait analysis done and run on the treadmill with the different types of shoes on. Great that Brooks done the analysis for you but if they didn't give you the results you could still be…

Similar issue with the achilles, I took 2 months off running November/December and the rest appears to have helped mine (done 164 miles in March and no pain so hoping I haven't jinxed it by posting!!!) You could also look at a homepathic remedy call Ruta Grav, it's used for shin splints and other 'rusty gate' syndromes,…

You've got loads of time, most plans start 18 weeks before the event day, I'm doing a marathon (which my training app kindly tells me is 1mnth 22days away). There's a half marathon trainer from fit kit, it uses interval training and tells you when to walk and when to jog, the one I use for the marathon is distance based,…

The first 2miles, I struggle with on my runs, always have. Currently marathon training and using loops in the forest to get the miles in (also allows me to stop at the car for a banana and water every 10k or so), it can make the last couple of miles really hard from a mental point of view of having to go back out a 3rd or…

Think you would need to try and see what it's like, what do you do at the moment as a base to start from?? If you walk, look at a C25K program that starts you off jogging for 1 minute, walking 90secs, if that's too much take it back to jogging 30secs, walking 45secs, you need to increase your heartrate to find out what…

I seen a post on FB the other night that sums up my running. I Run, I'm slower than a herd of tortoises stampeding through a field of peanut butter, but I still run. It doesn't matter if you run at a 6min mile or a 20min mile, it's still a mile:)

Evenings after work through the week, long runs normally in the morning at the weekend so I have the rest of the day to myself!!

The only thing I would suggest if you hit a plateau with your weight loss is to get a food scale, 'cups' measure volume not weight so you could be over/under-estimating your calories currently. Measuring by weight is much more accurate way to count calories.

I know it's only 5k but if you're planning on continuing to do a bit of running before and after the 5k please go to a proper running store and get you gait analysis done and a proper pair of running shoes that match your gait, old shoes don't have the same cushioning in them and you can end up with injuries (I have 3…

Mines is sync'd I went into MyFitnessPal on my phone, went to apps & devices and selected MapMyRun from the list, think I had to sign into mapmyrun and it synced and it now feeds through once the run has downloaded to the mapmyrun account (won't download in the middle of the forest so I have to go back into the workout…

I'm marathon training, that time spent running will drop in 8 weeks. 5ft 3, 126lbs' is well within the healthy BMI range, going down to 100lbs puts you in the underweight category, I'm overweight (my current BMI was just inside the obese range the last time I had my measurements done, I weigh myself every week but get full…
