  • Not a bad idea. I've noticed that coffee can postpone my midmorning munchies; even my breakfast if I'm in a fasting mood.
  • Every surgical guideline is different. Mine was: 2 days post op = clears next 14 days = full liquid next 14 days = pureed foods next 14 days = mechanically separated food 44 days p-o = regular eating
  • Also, go for some savory soups. Progresso makes a butternut squash curry that is dynamite. Egg drop soup is great, and if you make it yourself, you can lower the sodium count. In our "Let's see what you are eating" thread there are a few great recipes, also.
  • Maybe do half of a protein shake (or a full one) if you need the extra macro. I think a little bit of protein shake powder mixed in to some plain greek (or even better Icelandic) yogurt, is an awesome treat. Tastes like cheesecake. For salty-crunchy, sometimes I go with a handful of dried edamame, chickpeas, or even a few…
  • Too early to worry about stalls, or weighing. Your body is in "WTFjusthappenedtomeandwhereishalfofmyparts?!" mode. You'll retain/lose as the internal wounds heal. The first "real" stall happens for most people at the 3-4 week mark. PS) Weight loss isn't linear. Take weekly body measurements with a tape.
  • Just keep up with frequent small sips. You'll be worlds better in a few days
  • My exercise has been irregular, at best. The longer days have meant that I am getting a bunch of outside things done; mostly car maintenance. Today will be my 3rd brake job in the last 2 weeks, and no, I'm not a professional mechanic. I do walk/run as much as possible, or at least hop on the bike for a few miles.

  • How far out are you, @KDar1988 ? 800 might not be enough to support your daily needs, especially on workout days. I cannot see getting in all the macros while running that lean. 3 protein shakes/day would get you there with a calorie net of around 510, which is only short-term substantial.
  • Here are a couple recent threads about this: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10354958/bypass-or-sleeve#latest http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10331022/got-my-date-but-second-thoughts#latest Since you are potentially looking at losing over 100# I would look into the RNY or the DS (which is…
  • Bumping this back to the top, because it's an important reminder.
  • Don't freak out. Read some of the past threads, and see how awesome the other folks have done. The liquid-diet will suck, but it's for the best cause. Best of luck!
  • Also, make sure you weigh your food, at least until you really know portion sizes. I keep a food scale at home, one at the girlfriend's place, and one at work.
  • Sounds like you might want to get in touch with your Bari Center surgeon/nutritionist. You've got to get back to what was working pre-surgery. Log the food, plan your daily meals/snacks out in advance. Weigh out your portions, and stop when you are SATISFIED, not necessarily when you are done. At 9 months, I'm recommended…
  • Looking great and making wonderful achievements! So happy for you!
  • Depends on your age, activity/exercise level, whether you are maintaining weight or losing. Are you pre-op, or post-op? what kind of surgery did you have? Pre-op, I was on a 1600 cal/day limit with the goal of 60% protein, 25% fat, 15% carbs. Post op, I've been told that hitting my macro goals is more important than…
  • You'll do fine. Everyone's body is different, and loses at different rates.. Just compete with yourself, and make your goals to hit your nutritional guidelines, and your water intake. Also, keep track of your measurements. Many people think they are on a plateau, but are dropping inches and gaining muscle.

  • It is freaking strange. There are days where I can not get a meal/drink to go or stay down, thats never fun.
  • Oooh, that looks great! I ate the insides out of scallop and pork belly tacos last night. It may be the first time I've eaten scallops. I'm a fan
  • Oh geez, the whey protein KILLED me, directly after surgery. I had to switch to soy. I was OK with other forms of dairy, but I had to give away a lot of whey. I'd be interested in trying whey again, just to see if it was temporary.
  • Sweet, once the first one's out of the way, they'll all get easier (mostly).
  • Oh gods, stay away from PoF, you'll fare much better with OK Cupid. Even then it's a nightmare, though. I don't wish modern dating on my worst enemy. Hopefully, I won't be doing that again for a while. I did notice that things got SO MUCH EASIER once I stopped stressing/obsessing about it. I took on the view that dating is…
  • "new" work clothes today. Down to Medium shirts and a 32 pant (wut-wuut?!)

  • It'll pass, eventually. All you can do is spread it out, and try to keep the protein up
  • You will have an easier time than you can imagine. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride!
  • Made a kickass Chicken, bacon, ranch, Avocado pizza for the weekend. A little high in the calories at 352/slice; but only 8g of carbs. The crust was dense, and filling. I could barely finish a slice, and it kept me full for a very long time. Keto crust: 0.75 c Almond flour 2 c Finely shredded Mozzarella 1 tbs Milled Flax…
  • This is the fun part. I always said, "I'll never wear a suit, they are too hot and uncomfortable". I was always a t-shirt and cargo shorts guy. Now I have a few suits, and most of my shirts have buttons.
  • You'll get to where you want to be, Keep on rocking!
