  • It's easy to either love or dismiss them. I use organic whey protein to supplement my diet. I eat about 70% raw food and add whey protein to my green smoothies to make sure I'm getting enough protein. It's a protein choice, same as eggs, chicken, fish or beef without the hormones or heavy metals. In other words, it has its…
  • I take Digestive Enzymes with every meal - DigestMore Ultra by 'renew life'. I also take 2-5 capsules of Betaine [stomach acid]. If you suffer from heartburn, this is a really good combination. Heartburn and acid reflux are caused by a lack of stomach acid, not an excess of stomach acid, as is widely believed. Because…
  • I fit my exercise in at 6:00 AM. I set out my exercise clothes in the hall the night before, roll out of bed as soon as the alarm goes off; hit the bathroom, put my clothes on in the hall and head out the door to Curves, which is a 7-minute drive away. I'm back at the house by 6:50, ready to jump in the shower and start my…

  • What's the benefit of eating raw foods? Wow. Where do I start? First off, most raw foods are alkaline, as opposed to acidic. The goal in a raw food diet is to alkalize the blood and, thus, the body. The blood's pH is around 7.3-7.4. Ingesting alkaline foods [close to that pH level] is the way to keep the body's alkalinity…
  • Before there was fire, there was raw. Hollycat:flowerforyou:

  • The smell of underarm BO. Gag. Is that really necessary? There's a whole section of deodorants and antiperspirants in drug stores these days... some of them are organic and just about all of them work ...if you apply them... Reading all these posts confirms my reasons for going to Curves. Hollycat:flowerforyou:
  • Water, water, water! Drink lots and lots of water. For your size, [now don't get all excited folks...8 cups isn't for everyone] you might consider 4 to 7 litres of water a day... [folks, you will NOT drown, unless you are silly enough to try and drink it all at once]. I'm around 245 and I drink 4-5 litres a day. Yes, I'm…
  • Raw goes against everything we've been taught. It seems extreme. Until you do your homework. Until you become desperate enough to do what someone tells you is best for your body. Until then, I struggled with diet after diet after diet. It was endlessly confusing and frustrating. I believed that calories were the only thing…
  • :flowerforyou: Lay out clothes the night before. When the alarm clock goes off, don't think about it. Just throw back the covers and stand up. Hobble to the bathroom, get dressed and get out the door [if you're working out somewhere else]. By the time you get there, you'll be more or less awake and ready to work out. If…
  • Totally sedentary job here too. I've lost 25 pounds since September 1st by going raw [8 weeks]. I go to Curves 2 or 3 times a week. My fav sites are: crazysexydiet.com, nouveauraw.com and alkalinesisters.com. Hollycat:flowerforyou:
  • Coconut water is extremely alkalizing, which is always a good thing. Totally good for you. Drink it plain, add it to green smoothies and recipes. Your body will love you for it. Hollycat:flowerforyou:
  • karma's a *****! Hollycat
  • I don't know that it's 'mean' as such, but it's definitely tactless. Said by a very competitive friend to me when it was apparent I was losing weight [in an effort to sabotage my efforts and rationalize her own weight issues]: "Even though we're the same weight, nobody would guess that we weigh the same, because of our…
  • Cherries. Spitting the seeds out the window [remember to open it] becomes an artform. Hollycat :flowerforyou:
  • WARNING: I fractured the navicular bone in my left foot using an elliptical trainer. I am significantly overweight, so that contributed, but it was mostly improper use. I was alone in the gym and was really getting into the music and was sort of 'dancing' and raising my heels quite high. At one point, I was actually up on…
  • http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=walk+off+the+pounds&aq=f It's free. It's indoors. It takes only minutes. It's right in front of you. You can start now.
  • 2 - 3 = -1 I'm counting on the net result theory... Hollycat
  • I did it. Another 25 minutes on the e-trainer, more planned for tomorrow and now I'm sucking back the water. Don't I feel virtuous! Thanks for all the support everyone! Hollycat

  • For me, it's not what so much, as when. I eat often. B - 7:00 AM S - 10:00 AM L - 12:15 PM S - 3:00 PM D - 6:00 PM S - 8:30 PM S - 9:30 PM I rarely, if ever feel hungry on net 1400-1800 calories, even if my last 'meal' was 100 calories. I'm hoping to lose on average 4 or 5 pounds a month. So far, right on target.
  • It'll be 4 or 5 hours later...I'll be fine. Gulp! Hollycat :flowerforyou:
  • OMG. You are too cute! You're a Mommy?! Hollycat :flowerforyou:
  • OGAWD. I just remembered. It's pizza night at our house too and I had chinese at lunch that I"m going to have to burn off later today. OGAWD. :ohwell: Somehow I don't think I"m going to get into too much trouble either, though. I can still barely breathe and it's almost 4 hours later. Maybe I'll have crystal light…

  • Here's an idea: Give them a small amount of dessert first. Like one or two bites. [Eating dessert first is NOT a crime]. Why dessert first? Because that way, you're not using it as a reward at all. It's just food. One bite of everything first, then eat what you want. They can have the rest after they've TRIED everything…
  • Dude...it's time to see a urologist. Like....Now.
  • It's all in your head dude. They're lookin' already... :smokin: BTW, the Coors armour is quite dashing... Hollycat :flowerforyou:
  • I'm with the crafty but tactful girls on this one too!
