  • Ooo. Meowwww. What a cat. Some people just enjoy being nasty. Sounds like she's one of them. I'll never understand what motivates these people and I don't care to dwell on them long enough to try. The direct approach always works for me. Rarely for them. "Are you aware that what you just said is incredibly insulting and…
  • Huh. I was adopted at birth. I was raised by naturally thin, tall people. Food and dieting was a constant power struggle between my Mum and I as I went through my teens. She simply didn't understand me. I didn't understand me. It was an obsession that went beyond reason. I became a fat adult. I reunited with my birthfamily…
  • If you want a good detox...google Dax Moy elimination diet. Pretty much the gold standard. Hollycat :flowerforyou:

  • Sounds weird, but Cool Whip free [about 8 T] with 1 T reduced fat peanut butter. Mix it all up til it melts some, then dip a banana in it. It's sort of like peanut butter banana ice cream, if such a thing exists. For some reason, that satisfies. Not terribly healthy. Not saying that. But it does the trick. Got this from…
  • *LOL* Not a chance, sunshine! Not a chance! Hollycat :flowerforyou:
  • Thanks for the confirmation that I'm on the right track! Really makes me happy. Hollycat :flowerforyou:
  • Its been so long, it's a ballpark figure:blushing: . Partially based on a weight I once was, briefly, for about 2 weeks...and partially based on calculators that tell me that's a reasonable weight for my frame. Hollycat :flowerforyou:
  • Uhhhhh...great way to shut down your metabolism....just saying. Try just drinking water instead. Fasting is one of the things I did in my 20s that contributed to my current situation. Hollycat :flowerforyou:

  • lmho. I can't have my husband watch me work out either. He just can't help 'coaching'. If I wanted 'help' lifting, I'd get him to lift it. Makes me want to throw dumbbells at him. It raises my blood pressure and, quite frankly, ruins it for me. I know. I'm a baby. Top Three: 1) hubby watching me work out with that "isn't…
  • Paradoxically, working out will give you energy. Energy to do the things you need to do...weird, but true. The more I lay around, the more I want to lay around. The more I exercise, the more willing I am to exercise. Don't think about it. For heaven's sake don't let that inner child whine about it for more than 3 seconds.…
  • What the ...? Sorry. I can't respond. I'm just too angry. Thank you for perpetuating the myth that fat people are just lazy and that they are at fault. [note sarcasm]. I never thought I'd see it on this forum. That beats all. Hollycat :flowerforyou:
  • Please read my blog...http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/Hollycat I have been in the same boat for years. 1 or 2 weeks, then crash and burn. I have a new attitude about it all. I've been at it since May 1st and done what I would have previously considered a 'crash and burn', at least twice. Because I have a different…

  • If I were a young dude with muscle to build and some fat to lose, I'd do P90X in a heartbeat and gradually learn to eat clean. I know this flies in the face of my usual, but honestly. If I were young, in relatively good health and could do it over, P90X would be my choice. If I'm ever in good enough condition to do it, I…
  • Funny how it's always 3 weeks them bam! Sound familiar? PM? Hormones? Temporary Insanity? I have been going through this for 38 years. I have just grown to accept it. Not that I plan to give myself permission to overindulge, but that sudden, ravenous monster that lurks inside is bound to come out every few weeks. Just make…
  • Don't know anything about Insanity, P90X or any of the other popular ones out there right now. I do know about JoyceVedral.com She's great. Check it out. She has great deals in bundles of DVD's and I think shipping is free over a certain $ amount. It's doable. Hollycat :flowerforyou:
  • It's an interesting article, but I agree that correlation is not causation. I saw nothing that definitively points to diet soda being the actual cause of the increased average waist circumference. I suspect there are other things going on with people who choose to regularly consume diet sodas...e.g. "because I drink diet…
  • What a clever cookie you are! I need all the encouragement I can get and even if it's a loss back to where I was before...it's still a loss and likely to make me feel better about going down two, then up, then down again! I logged my gain today. I know it's probably water retention, because I dieted faithfully all weekend,…
  • Yup. You definitely need a large flat pan. 8X8 and you have too bake it forever - 45 to 60 minutes.
  • Well... you've hit the nail on the head. Permanent. That's what it needs to be. The conscious eating part...a.k.a. dieting. If you look at it as a lifetime habit, something you'll do every day for the rest of your life, rather than a temporary solution, you've got it licked. Some folks like to call it a lifestyle change. I…
  • My mind. My body is still...well....not my favourite part. I do have lots of freckles that I've always liked. Hollycat :flowerforyou:
  • I totally get this! My sister-in-law made a chocolate cake out of garbanzo beans, not unlike this recipe and it was to die for! There is no way I could have known it had garbanzo beans in it. Try this! I'm going to try i tomorrow! Hollycat :flowerforyou:
  • What ...an ...*@@h*le. I don't really need to tell you how much better off you are without someone who is going to judge you like that, do I? This is clearly his problem. He is going to have one helluva time finding someone to put up with him. Good riddance to bad rubbish! Say a prayer for him. He needs it. You, on the…
  • Well...that sucks. Rather than giving them the satisfaction of seeing you fall apart, it just might be time for some Danielle time. A massage, pedicure, sauna, whirlpool, visit your local pool and hang out in the steam room...whatever it takes to pamper yourself. Get some lengths in too. Treat yourself to a drop-in ticket…

  • I have in the past, but the last time, I just wrote the number down. I'm almost 50. What do I care if the person at MVB knows my real weight? It's not like I'm hiding it. Hollycat :flowerforyou:
  • What a good idea! Saves money that way too! I'm going to try it! Hollycat :flowerforyou:

  • One cup every hour or so...from a pitcher that's always on your desk, or from a large water bottle you carry everywhere with you. I drink 8-12 a day, have done for years, by making sure it's always handy. I stop drinking after 8. I hate getting up in the night. Hollycat :flowerforyou:

  • I like low carb for the health benefits [lowered my cholesterol, lost my sugar cravings] and I tend to still lean towards eating that way, but I found I couldn't sustain the particular style I'd adopted, so I wouldn't say I eat 'low carb' now, because I do eat a fair number of carbs daily. Low carb is, after all, basically…
