  • Perfectly said. Adding only to speak to the nature of the workout. High intensity workouts; cardio, plyo, core, yoga and strength training. Each video is a different type. You say you have the dvds, which in my opinion is enough. Just do them and you will see a difference. However, without the books/packet you won’t have…
  • Oh you have no idea how much research I put into this one day!! Sad really. But here is a few stuff I found. -If you like wine, only about 110 in cals for a proper serving (those big glasses at the restaurants are way more than a serving) -Any light beer. MGD 64 and PBR rated amongst the top - vodka and soda water. Try a…
  • I don’t think it matters based on the miles but based on how that exercise affects you. In the beginning I was unable to run a full mile without feeling completely exhausted and some serious soreness after. I took recovery days after that because it was obvious those muscles needed time to rest and repair. Which brings me…
  • Welcome to mfp! It is similar to facebook except you don’t really have to “know” the person to add them and to me it is so much more that facebook (when it comes to fitness). I tend to only add folks that write a message with their requests but it your personal choice. Some folks also only add folks that have similar…
  • Steve, I was hanging on to every word of this thread as if it were a new mystery novel! First let me say I am so glad to finally stumble upon a thread that is not about arguing semantics or hashing out some blanket rules with no explanations. Real constructive "support" Thank you so much for the information. And, I am…
  • (yes, they are evil..very evil) Depends on the P90x video for me personally. The 30D shred is high intensity in a short period of time. I find P90x videos have much more breaks, pauses in between etc so the average heart rate is lower. I would presume, however, the P90x calories burned should def be more than…
  • Yup as circuit training. If you have an HRM you can create and add it to My Exercise and record your actual calories burned.
  • Depends on how much and how hard. Any type of running or plyo exercise, would benefit from shoes that offer proper support. Most strength training (outside of circuit training with often requires both) won’t need any special support in shoes. Just using a step machine may not call of anything special in shoes, but I…
  • I use an HRM and then add all the P90x videos as part of the My Exercise section. So for example, its logged as P90x Core Synergetics, the time and the amount of calories burned based on the HRM.

  • You should be able to get it on any cable company that offers On Demand. I visited my in-laws and was able to keep my work out. They had Comcast, I have Cox and my mom has Verizon. They may have some variance in what they offer, but they all should have exercise tv
  • LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this!! So freakin awesome. My favs: Body Bootcamp Amy Dixon, Tank Top Arms Cindy Whitmarsh Cardio Challenge Jennifer Galardi 10lb Slimdown series (Core, Total Body, Lower, Yoga etc) Chris Freytag 6 Round Slimdown Stephanie Vitorino I guess I like them all!!! It’s like your own personal trainer because you…
  • He still eats more than my hubby!! Some ideas Cheese pizza – use low fat cheese. Pizza squares. Or make half and half pizza with one side for you. Calzone and sneak some pepperoni in there. Plain hamburgers or turkey burgers- meatloaf? My hubby hates all the extra stuff so I simply shape the burger meat in the shape of a…
  • know that the opinions on here are just that....opinions. Take them all in and then find what works best for you. You will LOVE the support on here more than anything. Best of luck....
  • I just did. I HATE working out in the evening but I overslept this morning and with work, I got home late. So I worked out at 9pm. I did something sort of light. You can do a run, or a yoga video. Just something to get you feeling better. Totally worth it. Get off of here and just do it!!
  • I count calories all the time, weekends and even on vacation. My “breaks” are the days I chose not to beat myself up or make a deal if I go over. I think it is important to always know what I’m eating and what my weak points are. I feel I have a better handle on my overall eating that way. Plus I sometimes surprise myself…
  • I don’t like breakfast either, or eating early so I try to make myself eat just a little something, something. Also, I really hate yogurt and all the other things people list as being healthy. My breakfast is one of these four: 1) Cereal: Special K Chocolate or Cinnamon Cheerios with soy milk (not to be healthy, I’m…
  • Ok, so I forgot about this post. Glad it is still going. Something else I found since I posted here. On My Recipes section, you can add your recipes. For example, I know a pot of rice and peas last me (I have no kids) about 4 servings when I make it. Then, you can add all the ingredients you put in it. And save it as rice…
  • I see the fear, but often working out triggers your hunger and your body may grave something. Then you can add some good protien, so that even if you are under for the day you've had a bit more substance. Also, working can also make you FEEL better. In addition to just feeling better about improving yourself, the phrase…
  • You can do it. It takes A LOT of concentration and mostly eating food made yourself. I have very high blood pressure, so I have to watch my intake and I try to limit it to about 1700. Very, very hard, but doable. Spend about a week carefully monitoring what you typically eat to see your high number culprits. Sugar can…
  • HRM may have gone out for part of the way. Happened to me on a run. That said, do you do the elliptical often? If you body has come accustomed to the workout, you may not be working hard enough to burn enough. The whole muscle confusion stuff….
  • Let’s look at the positive. This is a mfp NSV….. You have realized that sometimes a “lifestyle change” involves some of the life lessons learned in the company we keep. I have found that a really great friend of mine, who is overall supportive, should really be taken out of my life because she encourages going…
  • It all depends on your body. Many people do 6 days a week with just one rest day. I typically have to have 2 rest days, spaced out, not all together. What I Have found though, for the weeks that I go full force..doing a light workout is just as helpful as a rest day. For example, a simple yoga session or a walk or my p90x…
  • Best tip I ever got, if you have cable. Check out their OnDemand exercise TV. A bunch of different workouts, all about 20-40 minutes long, all various types. You will prolly only need one set of weights.
  • yup, about 2-3lbs
  • I definitely think brining your own foods will help. You won’t want it to go to waist, etc. Also try eating beforehand. You seem to know when they bring out the free stuff. Even if you nibble being full you may naturally eat less.
  • My only thought when I heard this this morning on the radio, was where do they intend to put these children? In the already clogged and overflowing foster care systems? Does physical health supersede mental health? As another poster mentioned, there are SO many layers to this …it’s not simply about whose responsibility it…
  • No need to repeat. This was perfectly said. To add, for OP, you confirmed it is just a wrist band. While I despise the ones around your chest, I have found them to be significantly more accurate. If you like math, the link below shows how to manually calculate your calories burned, based on your average heart rate (which…
  • My hubby is not the healthiest, but he likes pop corn and sunflower seeds. Also bananas and apples (if I remember to pack them  )
  • Carb loading before a long race is a very specific strategy that partially involves carb starving ahead of time. Please do this only if you have the plan. I see a lot of people on here post that and it can be a little misleading....and possibly even affect weight loss efforts if not done correctly. For short distances…
