Have the cake or cookie once in a while and cut out something else. Life is about compromise. It's a lifestyle, not a diet!

I can't believe the negative posts on here. Most of us are rational thinking adults who choose to use this challenge as a tool. If you don't believe in it, don't do it. And thanks Connie for your suggestion and work on this challenge.

Talk with your physician. There are things that can help with depression. If you don't address your emotional state its really hard to get on track. I ate myself into prediabetes this year after a really hard year, one of the most stressful Ive ever had. My doctor helped me with the underlying depression, and now I strong…

I was just diagnosed as prediabetic by my PCP, who is very supportive. I was diagnosed on July 15, and after two weeks of denial got to work to control it. I have lost 15 lbs and and walking 30 minutes or more a day. Thanks for your story, it gives me hope.

I am so far on track. This challenge works for me--I tend to snack after dinner without something reminding me that I don't need to have ice cream to go to sleep!

Friend me. I'm in the same boat. Diagnosed in July and after the first two weeks of checking my blood sugar am now always under 120 and most days under 115. You are right, its now a must to control the eating and lose weight. Also blood sugar lower if I exercise more. We can and will do this!
-
Made it two days so far eating a bit earlier and it gave me time for a post dinner walk!
-
I draw, paint, and knit. Not exactly active, but with a pencil or knitting needles in my hand I can't snack!
-
I'm in. I noticed my blood sugars are better when I eat earlier in the evening and then stop. Looking forward to the challenge.

Wow, good for you. Your persistence has paid off. You are a strong healthier woman for it. You give me hope!

Hi, I'm new to this site. I have been on MFP since July. I have lost 16 pounds on a low carb diet since being diagnosed as prediabetic. I do need to lose weight but my primary goal is to live a healthier lifestyle so that I won't need to go on medication. I am 62 and live in S. CA. My goal for this month is to get to 7000…

You look great! Brava!

I was just diagnosed with prediabetes also. Have had blood sugars within normal range with exercise and a low carb diet, no meds. I agree with the poster above-- keep carbs under 45 per meal. Friend me, I'm new at this too.

I am also restarting with mfp, with a lot more motivation this time around. I had a high A1C and my family has diabetes touching almost everyone. I want to control it with diet and exercise, not meds. Will need friends to help me keep motivated and on track.
