Man, my brother really got me yesterday. He works for Dell, and they just laid about 8,000 people off. Well, he called me yesterday saying he was one of them. I felt so bad for him, because he has been laid off by them already once before! So I am all bummed for him, and then I get an email from him this morning saying…

I am a chocoholic, so I sympathize with you. However, when I go on a binge like that, I tell myself that I have to set aside time during the day to work it off. Like this morning for instance, I ate 5 of those Dove sugar-free dark chocolates. Because of that, I am running with my dogs this afternoon instead of just…

I am so all for Ali!! I really hope she wins. She kicks serious *kitten*!! I want her to prove to all the women out there that a woman can win this show!! I can tell that she wants to prove it too. I was kind of hoping that Mark would go home instead of Jay. That way, she wouldn't have had so much competition. Mark is her…

I just had a chat with a co-worker about the boot camp workout you suggested. He is an ex-Navy Seal. He does those kinds of workouts at 5 in the morning. He says the neighbors all think he's nuts. He's out there with a headlamp and hand weights!! LOL Anyway, he thought it was so cool that I was doing it. It is fun to share…

My motivation is a little selfish. It is me. I am totally doing this for me. Unless you count the kids I don't have yet. I am learning how to cook healthy so I can teach them the importance of filling your body with good things.

I actually make these a lot. It is one of the only ways I can stand sweet potatoes. To me, potatoes shouldn't be sweet, which is why I can't stand those sugary casseroles! I could literally eat all of these in one sitting. They are that good.

I'm making a cornish hen with thyme and rosemary and steamed broccoli for dinner. For the hen, just put 1Tbsp of olive oil in a small bowl with some chopped garlic, thyme and rosemary (dried herbs are fine too). Mix it all together and brush it on the hen. Put hen in the roasting pan and roast at 350 degrees for about 1…

Yeah! Girl, go out and buy a new outfit! I know some people (especially men) have to practically be hit in the head before they'll notice anything! If you get a hot new outfit (or even just a new shirt or pair of pants), maybe that will make others take notice! Way to go, girl!! Keep it up!

I take a GNC Women's Active multivitamin. I really like them. If you use GNC, just go for all the purple bottles. It is the Complete Mega Ultra Women's line. I also take Dr. Perricone's skin vitamins for my skin issues, which have helped tremendously!! They're really high in omega-3s. You can get those vitamins at Sephora.

Put on a bathing suit. That usually does it for me! Or just stay busy. And drink lots of water to keep you feeling full. Tape up a pic of someone you'd like to look like. My sore muscles are a motivator as well. When I've worked hard enough to be sore the next day, it is a constant reminder of the good thing that I did for…

I have already shared this recipe in other locations, but I thought I should put it in the right place! 2 or more sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed sea salt fresh rosemary (2 or 3 sprigs, chopped) cayenne pepper (to taste) extra virgin olive oil (just enough to barely coat what you have, 1 or 2 tbsp) Preheat oven to 350…

LOL, that should be "What IS blackstrap molasses?" Molasses is a heavy syrup substance, like a super thick maple syrup. I don't know if you've heard the expression "Slow as molasses" but if you've ever tried to pour some when it is cool, it would make sense. You find it in the baking isle or in the pancake isle…

I love Pilates for this! I always feel about an inch taller after class. Not only does it make you more conscious of your posture, but by strengthening your core, it actually becomes more comfortable for you to sit up straight than to hunch over.

I think society has made EVERYONE self conscious, regardless of our outward appearance. There are many, many skinny people with even lower self esteem than some heavier people. And it is THOSE skinny people that look at those that are heavier ("pleasantly plump" as my grandpa used to describe grandma!), and it makes them…

Yeah! Endorphin overload!! It makes me want to run to the store and buy some brownie mix!! There are times (like that time of the month) when I HAVE to have it! I would hold a knife to someone for it! Man, if I was told I was allergic to chocolate, you might as well just kill me now. Life without chocolate is not worth…

Couldn't live without herbs and spices!! Especially cilantro, which my husband hates. I grew up in Texas, so everything has cilantro in it! LOL I also can't live without rosemary, dill, oregano, basil, cumin, chili powder, or garlic! I also LOVE curry. Almost everything I cook has garlic in it. I go to the Farmers Market…

Man, I can't wait until I can do this again! It has been raining almost every day since I decided to start doing this three times a week. LOL Figures. I will get out there and kill myself again eventually. My goal is to at least accomplish half of my crab crawl laps this time!! Oh well. I'm off to do my Body Works class at…

You know what is better? Peel and cube sweet potatoes, drizzle with a little olive oil, fresh chopped rosemary, cayenne pepper and sea salt. Bake on a baking sheet at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, then crank up the heat to 400 for 5-10 more. Absolutely FABULOUS!!! And good for you too!

sockeye salmon, sauteed with a thyme, cumin, paprika mix half an acorn squash, baked, with sea salt, cayenne pepper and rosemary romaine lettuce, cherry tomatoes and balsamic vinegar water to drink I go workout in about half an hour, so I have to keep it kind of light. LOL

To keep up with my calorie counting while I continue my workout plan. To make the time that I'm working out really count...push myself, do every rep correctly, and really fatigue my muscles! To exercise even on days I'd rather skip it. To be bikini ready by the end of May. :)

How about everything that I want, when I want it!! That is chocolate about 95% of the time, pizza and other doughy things about 3% of the time, really good cheese (like gouda or havarti) about 1% of the time, and other sugary snacks (besides chocolate) about 1% of the time.

I'm in for closer to 5lbs. My reason for being here is more for fitness than weight loss. I haven't had too much of a problem with weight thus far (ask me in a couple of years, after I've had kids! LOL). I, too, have a snacking problem, but I've been here for a few days now, and these cool tools make it kind of fun to…

Haha! We should exchange playlists sometime! I listen to all the same stuff! As well as some NIN. Trent has a good beat to most of his songs. Also some of Audioslave's stuff is good. Metallica is another one, and a couple of Pantera songs.

In other words, to quote my favorite comedian, George Carlin, "Don't pet the sweaty things."

Okay, I'm not vegetarian, but I have a HUGE vegetarian cookbook at home. I'll look up some things for you this evening and post them!

I listen to hard angry rock when I work out. It makes me run faster and push much harder. I suppose it is just the kind of person you are that determines what motivates you to push yourself! All I know is I hate the r&b crap they always have playing in there. It sucks. :noway:

Which, unfortunately, aren't nearly as good as the ooey gooey ones you make yourself! I always make things like that (or anything I bake for that matter), and I end up eating at least half of it before it makes it to the finished product! Chocolate chip cookie dough is the worst. My mom asked me once how she could get…

I just clicked on the link, and it's working fine. If you try to google it, Google "MyPetSense" and you will come up with the general site. That site is my personal one I was given when I joined. They are still pretty new (haven't really officially launched yet), so it will be a little while before it gets up there in the…

I make these sweet potatoes that are awesome! I peel and cube them, then put a little olive oil on them and stir to coat. Then I add fresh rosemary, cayenne pepper and sea salt and bake them for about half an hour at 350, then crank it up to 400 for about 5 minutes or so to get them crispy on the outside. They are freakin'…
