I wouldn't "drastically cut calories" to lose weight so it shouldn't be any problem with pregnancy either - just do the recommended 500 or so deficit. That's far from drastic and easy to bump back up to maintenance once pregnant if you feel you need to eat more. I ate 500 deficit and was doing P90x doubles until I was…

AnneElise - it definitely could be. I'd say if you can get a safe prescription it's worth a try! I forgot to mention that the MW said I was for the last couple weeks steady at the small end of the tape scale so she's guessing that the baby won't be too big. She asked about my first and I said he was 7lb 1oz or so and she…

So, last night hubby let me know that he decided in 2 years we should sell everything we own, buy a sail boat, quit our jobs, and travel for a year or possibly more. He's dead serious. It'd be tempting but I don't know if I could do something like that. I have been wanting to travel, but that's rather extreme. He's not…

Being able to leave the house within 15 minutes of deciding you want to leave the house!

I'd say having an initial weight is important to help determine how many calories she is burning. After that she can gauge her weight loss by how fit she feels and how her clothes fit. She will want to to weigh in periodically just because her calorie needs will decrease as her weight decreases, but there is really no need…

My advice - do what you can, but almost 4 lbs a week for 9 weeks is a very lofty and potentially somewhat unhealthy goal. Go all out at it, but don't get carried away with trying to lose too much too fast. Slow and steady!

Aldi is awesome if you have one. Cheap produce and eggs here at least for $0.29! I got 15 lbs strawberries, 4 lbs blueberries, and a loaf of bread for $20 yesterday. And that was at what I consider an expensive produce price of $1.49 a lb - usually they go in the summer $0.99, but not this year with the way food prices…

I think that measles is actually one of those things coming back because people assume that other people's vaccinated children will stop it from spreading so they don't need to vaccinate. Mumps is another one. Measles is more prominent right now in Africa / India etc, but because people stop vaccinating for it, it also…

Does Walmart double? I THINK the packs I get in the mail are the same ones that come in the Sunday paper - not sure, don't get a Sunday paper but I've tried to look before at the grocery store for the coupon part - but they seem like a lot of stuff I wouldn't use for the most part. Like breakfast sausages and laundry…

I watched part of an episode once. I wish they explained where they got all the coupons. I get a little mailer with coupons in it but they're never very good and only off super expensive stuff that on sale with the coupon is still more than the generic on sale. And what stores actually double coupons? None of ours! Some of…

I feel ya here. We fight about money all the time. There's never a month our checking account doesn't get below $50 just before the 15th and the 30th (my pay dates) and it's SUPER stressful! Especially when he is wasting it on stuff like forgetting to take redbox movies back for a week or getting fast food! Unfortunately,…

I'm both. I work full time from home with my son and soon another new one here.

It will prompt you if you want to change your settings after about 10 lb changes. If you lost 10 lbs and it hasn't asked you you should go in and change them so you're not eating too much.

broccoli! Or get those steam bags that have broccoli /carrots / cauliflower in them. Add cheese if necessary.

It was pretty. We were only there the afternoon. Mostly we just had dinner with my husband's biological grandfather who lives in Vancouver and met us over there.

jealous of the travels! I have been to many states, though most of them just involved driving through them! I've been to CAN when I was little little and to Victoria BC when my inlaws took us on an AK cruise when i was preg last time and it made a stop there. I went to Jamaica for a week and Costa Rica for 6 when I was in…

Slow on the joining up here so a little behind on posting this, but i joined MFP about 6 mos after baby 1 when I was still wearing my elastic waist jeans because I was up like 35 lbs still from where i was. I've been on for 3 years or so - i think March 2008? (I can't see my photo right now that says "member since"). In…

only the rapture is tomorrow. So anyone left behind will have plenty of time to quit their job and eat crap for the next several months until the world actually ends.

A really good really easy one! Cut into strips. Dip into a honey / apricot jam mixture (recipe calls for 1/2C honey and 1T apricot jam. I used pear since it's what i had. raspberry would probably be good to, possibly.) Then dip in Panko bread crumbs. Bake until done and crispy. I think probably at 350. I put them on a wire…

depends on what you are comparing them to. I like them to keep on hand for running out the door in the morning to the gym. Quick and easy and protein packed. Processed and sometimes high in sugar, but I don't eat them every day and I don't rely on them for my key protein intake. If you enjoy them, everything in…

sorry, nothing to add... other than that the guys TOTALLY hog the weights equipment. I generally stick to cardio and get in my muscle building swimming. but I want to bump this to read later. I also love gym threads. The gym and the grocery store are the only places I every go!

It would - IF you were not already eating at a deficit. You are already eating a healthy amt fewer calories than you would if you were maintaining your weight. If you eat at a deficit and then exercise on top of it your deficit gets TOO big and can be detrimental. Think of exercise and eating those calories as fuel for a…

sneak in your own butter free popcorn. nothing behind the counter is healthy.

I swim with my Polar F6 all the time and it works well. Be sure it's positioned correctly and it's tight (and needless to say hopefully... under your suit  ). Also, never try to replace any batteries yourself or it will not be water resistant any more. Polars are made for being OK for pool use, so long as any…

yes. it also matters as in... if you are a waitress, and you walk all day long, so you post as active, but then you log that you walked 3 miles that day because you were on your feet - you double logged those activity calories. If you post as sedentary then waitress a double on a weekend (say you only waitress on the…

But that # is not a rock .... I get cranky, tired, lightheaded, lose no weight if I regularly net under 1400 or so. So 1200 Net means nothing to me. Go by what MFP suggests based on current weight and activity level and not by an arbitrary # set out there to cover 50% of the entire population of the world. It doesn't…

personally McDonalds burgers make me sick just thinking about them! I love a good home grilled burger though. Some people, on the other hand, really LIKE a McDonald's burger. It's so close, go with the one you will ENJOY more! You're not gonna stick with eating within range and logging etc if you are not eating things you…

He should be eating back most of his exercise cals and netting close to the 2000 that MFP suggests for him.
-
Eat your exercise calories if you are not already - it seems sometimes you do. Also, you can zig zag your cals. Eat 1200 one day and 1700 another just to shake any "calorie memory" your body is anticipating.

My belly button got dark hairs around it. I finally pulled some of them out because they annoyed me!
