What SoniaCele described is just squatting. You brace your core as part of the movement. Anyone who teaches a squat correctly should discuss bracing just like they discuss depth and position. You don't need to do anything more to activate your core once you brace and stay braced. At least that's my way of reading it.

Now imagine what your build would look like if you had not lifted and instead lost the muscle that the lifting preserved. If you didn't lift and lost weight your muscle base would be worse and you would have to work up to the current base and then beyond.

If I squat with a wide stance (not as wide as sumo) I have trouble with depth. Your stance seems pretty wide so you might narrow it a bit. Most of the shootings in the US happen in locations where weapons are not allowed like schools, movie theaters, government buildings, nightclubs, .... Businesses are free to restrict weapons and they re not allowed in schools and goverment buildings for the most part.
