start. one foot in front of the other. I was training for a half a couple of years ago, injured my back and couldnt run for months, couldnt cycle for 6 months and lost all form, put on about 15kg. then I found Mfp around February last year. I surrounded myself with friends who were active and therefore made me feel guilty…

Happy to share fairly good burns regularly, my food diary and butt kicking when you need it. Friend me if you're serious ;)

i schedule events to train for, usually ones that are a big ask to get ready for. I have a 25km trail run in June that I am aiming for this time, it is keeping me on track with my running and making me think twice about my eating habits, sleeping habits and stress levels. Pick an event, one that you can work up to, and…

i think that MFP depresses me every time I read about how somebody is doing something stupid to their body, like jumping onto the latest fad diet, or if they are constantly complaining that it's all too hard to exercise. All I want to do is jump through the screen and smack them. HOWEVER - by being fortunate enough to…

me too, but dont fall into the trap where you get addicted and are on here all day! Remember to spend plenty of time (and no money) outdoors walking, running, enjoying life and getting exercise!!! That's the secret!

pretender. foo fighters. nuff said ;)

dont eat in front of the tv. Make eating a family exercise where you are talking as you eat so you eat slower. cut everything into smaller pieces. it works. Eat higher levels of protein, which will fill you up. Greek yoghurt fills me up, I cut up an apple and use the yoghurt as a dip. Fills me every time. when you've…

one foot in front of the other :) Start slow, keep plenty of walk breaks and as you improve your walk breaks will shorten. EVERYBODY is a runner. We ALL ran when we were kids, so just retrain your body to enjoy moving like that again :)

(wish i was back at that level!)

on the final day of my last bootcamp I held a plank for 5 minutes :) Couldnt do it now, but it was documented at the time due to it being officially timed at bootcamp!

If it helps, I generally eat a high amount of protein, I have worked out that my body is a "protein type" and functions better with higher levels of protein, especially breakfast. Feel free to check out my diary. I eat poached eggs most mornings, if I get bored with them then I go for high protein cereal, and eat lots of…

THANK YOU!! I've even noted on one of MY bad days that this is NOT a way to go day - and STILL had way to gos put there. WTF?

i ran to work last year and remember seeing a guy cycling to work. With a broken leg. In plaster. Stretched out in front of him. Was SOOOOO temped to tip him over ....

why are you specifically looking for low carb friends? do you have an intolerance or condition that means you can't eat many carbs?

the best running shoes are the ones that have been fitted properly for your feet and your gait. Everybody's feet and gait is different, so what suits others perfectly may not suit your style of running. I'm a runner, and the biggest expense I incur with ANY item of clothing is my running shoes. I will spare no expense to…

ok so the first change you need to make is to realise that there is no such thing as a diet. If it's not maintainable for the rest of your life it's not worth doing and will probably not keep whatever you lose off long term. LIFESTYLE CHANGE. I'm pretty black and white with my motivation, but if you want to try and be kick…

Happy to help kick butt with you ;) (but you've got to try and keep up - how's that for accountability? Lol! :)

I'm happy to keep an eye on you - I get very busy and sometimes seem like I'm not around but trust me, I haven't missed a day of logging in yet :) Why are you starting in the new year? You have 4 perfectly good days to start the habit NOW. Are you serious about this? There's no such thing as a new years resolution, you can…

really happy to help pull along anybody serious about doing this! I've done it, I'm now using MFP to train with for my events next year! You may not keep up with me (lol) but if you use MFP the way I did when I lost my weight last year you will have at least one friend who you can try and keep up with - it made ALL the…

Definately this. I wish more parents would be concerned about keeping their kids active instead of giving them playstations for christmas!!

Not sure what country you are in, but in Australia I cannot legally sign anybody to the gym who is under 14 (I manage a gym). And the recommended rules out here are that anybody under 18 should not participate in weight training other than their own bodyweight (ie squats, lunges, planks etc). So I very rarely sign U18s.…

My husband was told by his doctor a few years back to lose weight or pick out his coffin. Hard but true. It was the only thing that got his butt into action. After losing around 20kg he hit a plateau earlier this year and thought he couldn't lose any more. I told him about MFP and demonstrated what it did for me (I lost…

working out is a BRILLIANT way to combat frustration and depression! I have suffered depression before and trust me, RUNNING cures it!!! When I'm angry and frustrated I normally head to the rower for interval sprints - works every time :) Try pumping up some really vibrant music like ACDC, Foo Fighters, Green Day - it's…

happy to help push you along if you want :) I have lots of big goals for 2012 and I dare you to keep up with me ;)

greek yoghurt and a sliced apple to dip it in. One secret is to cut up food smaller and eat it slower, it helps because your brain needs time to realise that you have eaten which is why so many people who eat quickly eat too much. Greek yoghurt is full of protein to fill you up, very low calorie (especially the light…

cycling! Even better, "brick train" by combining both together and improving endurance and working more muscles. btw - off season? what's that?
-
cut up an apple, get some biodynamic greek style yoghurt and use it as a dip to dip the apple in. Eat it slowly. By eating it slowly and the protein in the yoghurt will fill you up, and it's a low calorie snack. It's my secret to snacking at night when I was in my weight loss phase :)

from Sydney, always keen to meet other mfpers!!!

one step at a time. set yourself very simple goals and when you get them celebrate the small achievements with non-food rewards, like a day off the housework, a hair cut etc. Then make your goals a little bigger and prove to yourself that you can achieve those too. I'm in Sydney. Maybe one of your bigger goals can be…

dark chocolate is fine. Get the highest percentage of cocoa you can, you wont need much to satisfy a chocolate craving and a couple of small squares per day is actually good for you as it is full of antioxidants. Try this method - if you crave chocolate, walk to the shop to get it. Make sure the walk is at least a km there…
