How did you go from this: To this?
-
I think a trainer who wants to teach you to lift would at least give you a bar and teach you proper form while you're building some basic strength and mobility from stretching and body weight exercises. If I were you, I'd probably ask for specifics. If he wants to start with "baby steps," fine, but I'd want to know exactly…

It is a cultural thing. It's sort of like how the waiter automatically gives the check to the man if a man and woman are eating together (especially at upscale restaurants). It is not meant to imply that the woman is an idiot or that she can't pay. It is traditionally meant as an acknowledgement that the the man is…

It said I was a moderate people hater. Going through that list, the things I hate the most are behaviors that indicate that a person is totally oblivious to everyone around them, like getting in the fast lane and driving 20 mph below the speed limit or blocking the aisle at the grocery store or standing in line at…

Look, I've read your stuff. You have some pretty extreme views on diet, ranging from eating 1104 calories a day to thinking animal products cause 97% of heart attacks. I find it hard to believe that you've never had these discussions with your family of Olympic athletes and medical professionals. But okay. Maybe they…

I've had mine for a couple months. I honestly think it's more useful for people who still have a lot of weight to lose and need to monitor their changing BMR/TDEE OR people who have activity levels that fluctuate dramatically from one day to the next. I'm basically at maintenance, and my training schedule is very…

Back pain definitely means you are using your arms too much and lifting the weight rather than allowing it to float up from the momentum created with your hips/glutes. A good way to gauge your form is to loop a towel through the handle of the kettlebell, and swing it holding the ends of the towel. If the kettlebell hangs…

I don't have any and never will. That said, confidence is hot. Wear your tat(s) confidently or be confident in not having any. I don't mind them if they are original and have some meaning. Some lame-*kitten* barbed wire around your biceps? Perhaps you should've sat on that one a little longer. Above all, I think you should…

Depends on who it is. I can't really say anything to my grandmother. She's always making fun of me for how much I eat. I eat a lot, okay, but I know that. It's what I do. I don't need my grandma saying "Have yourself some meat, Casey." But what are you going to say to an 82-year-old woman?
-
My dinner is usually upwards of 1600, so put me down for "no."

I have witnessed many VERY fit, VERY strong people work out in jeans. You said he's in wicked shape. Perhaps, if you have time to watch, you should pay more attention to what he's actually doing and less to what he's wearing.

I think it is mostly about the attitude of said "newbie." A lot of them come in here like this place didn't exist before yesterday and those of us who have been around for years couldn't possibly have come to the right conclusion about anything. That will earn a person some hostility. I don't advocate being rude when it…

Fasting is fine. There is an intermittent fasting group on here if you want more focused discussion about it: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/66-intermittent-fasting I would, however, caution people about using it only at certain times to permit themselves to eat more (or to compensate for eating too much the day…

I would not blink at that price on a month-to-month basis, but I would never sign up for more than 3 months at that rate on a noncancelable contract. I can tell pretty much immediately if the trainer is legit, but who knows if you're going to want to or even be able to keep training there for the next year? Who knows if…

Look, I am not a person who enjoys "diet" foods, but just because I have no interest in fat-free cheese doesn't mean it doesn't help some people stay on track. Now, if someone wants to tell me fat-free cheese is better for me than real cheese, they can FOAD because they're wrong and stupid. But I don't really get to tell…

If it's part of your daily life, I would include it in your activity level setting. Your body has probably adapted to walking to and from school, climbing the stairs to your flat, etc., so it is not exercise, in terms of its effects on your body, in the same way that going to the gym and doing an hour of intentional…

Fat and sodium ... so, basically, the stuff that's already IN meat?

That's not why we stopped dating, but thanks for your interest. I'll add you to my newsletter subscriber list.

I can't even. If that's truly your schedule, why do you need to work out? Watch what you eat, and call it a day. If lifting is something you enjoy, then you're going to have to find something on that list that you enjoy less than lifting. If all of that is really 100% necessary, then I'm not sure what you expect. We can't…

The only thing I did with my last boyfriend was hiking. His idea of lifting was doing tons of preacher curls after running on a treadmill for an hour, so just continuing to date him was as nice as I was prepared to be.

I have accomplished what I came here to accomplish. The reason I am still here is because I still have a need/desire to track my intake and because I like interacting with the cool people on my FL. I learn things from watching other people. I learn what I want to be, what I don't want to be. I learn about overcoming…

That was my perception as well. If she were truly 100% content with where she is right now, she wouldn't be here asking this question. As I said in my post, it's not about some universal standard of attractiveness (i.e. size 2, looks perfect in a bikini). It's why is she okay with not TRYING to be the best she can be? And…
-
This is not even about being a size 2 and looking great in a bikini. It's about being less than you could be. Why are you okay with being 15 lbs overweight? I think you need a dose of self-respect.
-
Well, you have 52 lbs to go, so yeah, you have some leeway. Someone who is close to goal really doesn't have much if losing weight is a priority. 100 calories a day can be the difference between losing and not losing at that point. And it's shockingly easy to be off by 100 calories if you aren't weighing everything.

I am 5'0. I lose weight at 1700.

Why did a thread about male vs. female leg strength have to turn into a female vs. female pissing contest over who can lift the most? Way to represent the female lifting community.

1. Talk to your supervisor or HR or to whomever you're supposed to report stuff like this. Perhaps suggest that they send out a memo to remind everyone that whatever is in the fridge is not free for the taking. Is there by any chance a new employee who isn't aware that the things in the fridge are not provided by the…
