Dancing (improv or choreo) is by far the most fun for me, but it looks so much better when you've put in the hours of drilling and conditioning before hand. I'm off for a three hour drills and conditioning class today!

Amen to that. It makes me very sad to think of waiting until I'm a certain size or weight before feeling good about myself as a dancer. Belly dance really is a case of it not being what you've got but what you do with it that counts!

Cotton skirts are not as glam as some of the super sparkly cabaret costumes, but they do have a lovely swing to them, and really emphasise your hip movements. It's impossible not to feel like a tribal goddess when you've got all that floof and sway going on with every single bounce!
