  • Do what you need to do for yourself. If/when your hubby wants to, and is ready, he will quietly tag along in the shadows. Sometimes the spouse fears failing at the very thing in which you're finding success. So, they first don't even try. Then, when/if ready, they do it w/o drawing any attention to it. THEN, if they're…
  • You would not believe how much weight lifting and time doing it that it would take for you to bulk up. It would have to be virtually the only thing going on in your life. Lift weights, do cardio, and don't worry about bulking up. Believe me, it is a non-issue. Good luck.
  • I just go by whatever estimated calories are listed, whether with mayo or w/o, or whatever (this goes for any food service establishment). Based on a comparison on sheer volume of what I eat now vs. volume I used to eat, I am most certainly consuming less calories. And, therefore, losing weight. So, this does not worry me.
  • Awesome NSV, for sure!
  • LOL - Bloated???? You look absolutely fantastic! Congrats!!
  • I only count what I call "exercise on purpose." That is all. Carry on.
  • Height? 5'4" Starting weight? 167 lbs Current weight? 143 lbs Goal Weight? 130 lbs Age? 46 How many calories you eat a day? I try to NET my daily goal, so how many calories I actually eat varies. My daily NET is 1200, so if I burn any calories, I will usually eat most of them in addition to the 1200.
  • Used to try to cheat the scale -- kind of like leaning left when bowling, hoping to keep that ball out of the gutter. Because it had an effect on the scale -- which it should not -- I bought a new scale. No fooling this one.
  • I'm 5'4" and also cannot walk at 4.0. However, jogging at 4.0 is uncomfortable, like it is way to fast to walk (3.7 is my max), but too slow to jog. I have to be at AT LEAST 4.5 to feel right jogging.
  • I've always eaten them back -- at least most of them. I simply try to net my daily calorie goal every day, and must eat them back to do so.
  • LOL! Thank you for this reference! LOL
  • ^This. Esp. if it is part of your typical day. If you eat those calories back, you'll be defeating your efforts.
  • Hmm. I don't say no to cravings or junk food. In the past, I would eat everything in sight trying to avoid that food I really crave. So, now, I give in, but w/ control of quantity/calories. So far, so good.
  • Doesn't that feel awesome?! Congrats!!
  • I'm all about keeping it simple, and cutting out nothing. MFP set my daily goal based on my stats, and I try to net those calories each day. Bottom Line: I look at my daily calorie goal as cash in my wallet. It is all the cash I have for the day, unless I work (exercise) to earn more cash. If I have extra cash, I will…
  • I usually exercise about 30-60 min. after I've had breakfast, which is typically cereal or oatmeal and a cup of coffee. Nothing in particular. But, after exercise, I like to have a spoonful (about 1/2 tbs) of peanutbutter. I kind of walk around with it like it is a popsicle. Or, I'll have a banana. I just like to have…
  • I do not have cheat meals, as I also do not deprive myself of anything. I just try meet my daily calorie goal, regardless of what I eat to get there. I do try to eat more healthy food than junk, but I do not eliminate anything. Tonight, for instance, I had a cheese steak sandwich. Roughly 700 cal. But, I had room for it,…
  • First, I would say he is not a saboteur; he is merely inconsiderate. With that in mind, your resolve needs a boost. Support is nice and is helpful, but if you NEED support to succees, just remember that most people will let you down. You NEED to be able to succeed w/o any support. Support is a bonus. Also, nothing…
  • Just two things, in my opinion, and that's w/o looking at your diary. 1. Give it more time before you check the scale. Esp. if checking and seeing nothing (or even a gain) is enough to discourage you. 2. Keep it simple, at least in the beginning. Don't worry about whether you're munching on a chocolate bar vs. a carrot…
  • As you get close to your goal, you'll know better whether that's right for you or too low. Nothing wrong w/ setting that goal now, and changing it, if necessary, later. I don't think it is completely unrealistic. It will depend on your bone structure and your muscle mass. You just won't know for sure until you get closer.…
  • I don't think the end will be on Dec. 21. I think it will be the day after I reach my goal weight. Wouldn't that just figure?
  • OP, very nicely put, and I couldn't agree more. But, there is another reason I don't like the old "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels." It implies that you should give up something delicious to reach whatever that goal is (in lieu of "skinny"). I absolutely refuse to give up any delicious food, even if it is…
  • My sister lost 101 lbs. and talked to a dr. about this very thing. She was told, although no guaranty, cocoa butter helps. Also, actual "extra skin" is about as thick as your eyelids. If it is thicker than that, then it is fat under that skin. It is possible that once that fat is gone, that the skin will shrink back quite…
  • First of all, congrats on your successes!! I totally celebrate with food. I totally socialize with food, and drink. My answer: Continue tracking like any other day. Allow room for some goodies by having low cal. (maybe extremely low cal.) breakfast/lunch. AND/OR Cardio like crazy to give yourself more room to consume more…
  • Hey, to each his own. Right? I would not try to convert anyone in one direction or another, but man I love to tease the vegetarians. Okay, one in particular. I used to work for a woman who was vegetarian, and I just like to give her a little grief now and again. All in good fun. Couldn't do it if I didn't absolutely adore…
  • I hope you've already started. If you're committed, you'll do fine. Good luck.
  • You should be very proud that falling off the wagon, so to speak, did not end your journey. And, if you ask me, a beltloop is, indeed, a big deal. Congrats on your big deal, and I wish you much success as you continue. The success of others motivates almost as well as my own successes do. So, thank you.
  • Wow! Congrats!! :drinker:
  • You have photographically made an excellent point. Thank you. You look terrific!!
