First of all, if this is another person in your life telling you this, you need to seriously work on some boundaries. If you are just talking to yourself, trying to find motivation not to eat junk, I don't know, this statement could work. It depends on which type of motivation works for you. I tend to think positive…

Did you log fewer workout calories through MFP on the lower burn day? Sometimes it's frustrating when I have met my step goal but still haven't met my calorie burn goal, but that's usually due to burning less during my workout than usual, which is applied to my Fitibit burn through MFP. I have a step, distance and calorie…

I have all 3! A Fitbit Zip, a HRM and a BodyMedia band. I have found the Fitbit/HRM combo to be quite accurate. I wear my Fitbit all day, but wear my HRM as well during exercise. Then I log that exercise in MFP and it overrides whatever calorie burn the Fitbit assigned for that time. I also wear my BMF band all day, and…

I got a 20, which is reasonable considering I know my answers were much "better" than they would have been before I started my weight loss journey in April. At the same time, I thought I had this thing beat. I hadn't really considered my behavior to be "binge eating" per se, just eating for excitement and to beat boredom.…

If you are wearing your Fitbit during exercise and don't have a more accurate way of measuring your burn during a workout (heart rate monitor, etc.), then just let Fitbit log your calories burned and don't enter it again in MFP. If you don't wear your Fitbit during the workout that you are entering in MFP, then that's…

I have a Fitbit and absolutely love it. It has been extremely motivating for me to get up every couple of hours and log some steps. I used to work out in the AM and that was it; sedentary most of the rest of the day. Now I take a 20 min. walk after both lunch and dinner, and am conscious of how long I have been sitting and…

This time last year, I was a sedentary binge eater with no energy, having given up hope of being able to lose the weight and change my bad habits. It all just seemed too hard and inertia is a powerful force to fight against. I hit bottom and found my motivation at the end of April 2013. Since then, I have lost almost 60…

As everyone else has mentioned, I adjusted the mets designation for moderate and vigorous. These designations are just FYI anyway, so changing the mets cutoff for each level doesn't affect any of your data. I chose my moderate and vigorous activity goals per day, so I choose what level of exercise I consider "moderate" or…

Not that I know of (though I'm a BMF newbie too!). I think the "sleep" readout is to show you how much time the device is detecting that you actually sleep, subtracting for time you are just lying down but not sleeping/still. If you weren't wearing it overnight, the sleep section will just stay at 0. You can go into "edit…

I always log in the AM (or even the night before), because I plan my food for the day, and because I have a basic meal plan with only a few variables. For example, I do low-carb on Mon., Tues., Thurs. and Fri., so I have my low-carb meals and snacks saved and just log them. Same for the higher-carb days; those meals are…

I don't buy it. That's how I put on all my weight: peanut butter and Nutella sandwiches after every meal, for snack and before bed (that and Reese's; I guess I have a chocolate-plus-peanut butter thing). I avoid sweets like the plague and I don't crave them. One taste and it's all downhill.

I had some frustration the first day or two that I used the band, but like anything, there is a learning curve. There is a place on the website called 'getting started" or something like that, that tells you how to set up the band. I'm pretty sure you just put it on and within 10 minutes or so it will beep telling you that…

You sound similar to me. I lost 50 lbs. on my own, and another 5 since getting my Fitibit (which I love), but I just couldn't shake the desire to have a more accurate accounting of my calorie burn from all daily activities, not just step-based ones. I have 15-20 lbs. to go, and was hoping the BMF would help me get them…

I'm only on day 2 1/2, but I have been using the Fitbit and HRM combo for over a month prior, and wearing an activity tracker definitely kept me accountable and got me moving! Before that, I did a good 60 min. workout in the AM and thought I was set for the day. I didn't realize how sedentary I was until I started counting…

I started out with 70 lbs. to lose. I only have 15 left to hit my goal, but I'd still love to join! My username is AHASRADA Thanks!

1600, which is the max I allow myself on my weekly "cheat" day (usually Sunday, bumped to Thurs. this week). I came out even due to my workout this AM, plus banked a huge deficit over the rest of the week, so I should be good. I had turkey, mashed turnip, acorn squash, mashed potatoes and broccoli salad. No rolls, no…

I have been using a Fitbit Zip for the past 5 weeks. By wearing a HRM during workouts and overriding Fitbit's calories for that time period and replacing them with those from the HRM, my estimated calories burned vs. actual weight loss were accurate to within 50 calories per day! That tells me that, while the Fitbit isn't…

This is what I have been doing. I got the Fitbit Zip a little over a month ago (I couldn't wait for the Force to come out, and didn't see the point in paying more for the One just for sleep and step counting). I wear it all day, but add my HRM during workouts. I enter the workout info. including calories from the monitor,…

All the advice you have received is excellent. I just wanted to recommend a free app full of a variety of different types of exercises, both cardio and strength training: Sworkit You choose the type of workout you want, the length, and the app shows you which exercises to do and counts down the time until it switches you…

I've been logging my food for 7 months, but only tracking daily activity with my Fitbit Zip for a month. I wasn't expecting it to be very accurate, especially when I'm doing floor work or other non-step type exercise, so I've been wearing my HRM during exercise and overriding the Fitbit's calories logged during that time.…

I plan my day's food ahead of time, so there is no room to sneak in "naughty" food if I haven't planned for it. I also zigzag my calories and carbs, and have one "reward day", so if I can't have something today, I know I will be able to soon. For me, this looks like: Mon. & Tues. 1200 cal. low carb Wed. 1450 cal. w/carbs…

I actually love Thanksgiving, because there are so many healthy options built into the traditional meal, it is easier to stay on track. Lean protein (turkey meat), sweet potatoes, turnips, squash, salad. I will skip the rolls, stuffing and pies. I plan to move my "treat day' (usually Sunday) to Thursday that week, and I…

Wa aleikoum assalaam, I only joined a couple of weeks ago, and mostly access through the app. I wish there was an app-optimized way to access the forums. It's nice to see so many sisters on the site, masha'Allah.
