  • Level 1 Day 5 Cals: 244 Back on the Jillian workouts after hiking this weekend. I was a little sore from hiking but otherwise all went well.
  • Thanks all. I made the caramel apple salad and it went great.
  • LOL Level 1 Day 4 Calories: 254 I think I need some sleep. Great job everybody! Have a nice weekend!
  • Level 1 Day 3 Cals: 273 The first circuit was tough but after that it didn't seem as bad as the first two days. Particularly the side lunges and bicycles at the end were easier and the late cardio section didn't seem hard.
  • Day 2: 259 cals I am seriously crunched for time today so I tried shoving this in right after the dog walk. This made the first circuit really tough but after I got into it was ok. I had to drop the weights for the second set of those side lunges/anterior raises b/c of a cramp. Hopefully, this will be easier in a couple of…
  • Ok. Level 1 Day 1: the HRM says I burned 285 cals. Interestingly it said I burned ~400 walking the mutt. Not loving the side lunges and shoulder raises at the end of the workout like that. Hopefully that means I am 'feeling the burn' :) Can't wait to try again tomorrow.
  • I also use http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/recipe_analysis.php Sometimes it is easier; sometimes the sparkspeople site is easier.
  • I just got the DVD in the mail today. I am going to start it tomorrow. I also just got my HRM in the mail today. So I'll have two new toys to play with
  • Diet soda, cake, and cheeseburgers. I get the cake in those little individual servings ( maybe 1 or 2 a week) so I don't keep a whole cake in the house and I only eat cheeseburgers about once a month. I'd be a vegetarian if I could give up the cheeseburgers :)
  • Wow. Not that it is news that fast food is gross but.. Ave Calories USA: 3760 I guess after watching your calories for a while that seems ridiculous.
  • I just finished On a Dollar a Day: One Couple's Unlikely Adventures in Eating in America. The book is more a diary of some of their experiment - the recipes and cost index is on their blog. I just started Thunder and Roses: Volume IV: The Complete Stories of Theodore Sturgeon
  • I am not in Oregon either but I can see it across the river sometimes! I am in Vancouver WA.
  • I probably got these links from elsewhere on the boards but I use these two pages to do most of the homemade recipe calculations then enter the results into the database. http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/recipe_analysis.php http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-calculator.asp
  • Cool. If you are going to go w/whole wheat you might have to add more moisture (agave or honey maybe, or just more water?) to get the same consistency. Good luck.
  • I have a friend whose cat fetched paper balls and played with the dogs. Also know of another cat whose owner hides toys around the house and the cat retrieves them and gathers them in a pile for fun.
  • 1 dog - 12yr old Lab Mix named Akane, she's in my pic and ticker cause I am a crazy dog lady.
  • The data under 'Potatoes - Russet, flesh and skin, baked' looks pretty accurate. It depends on the size of the potato. Large = 290 all the way down to small = 134.
  • When I first started I tried 1200 and was trying to 'beat' that score by going too far under like life is a videogame. Now I am at 1300 and I am eating at lot of exercise calories and doing better.
  • You can lose weight but you can't fix stupid. //stolen I know but appropriate here
  • If you have an exercise step, doing aerobic exercises with it will help. Also squats and lunges as others have mentioned. If you want to practice with the backpack and don't want to load up the gear you are taking, textbooks and big hardcover books make good balanced weights you can use to load up the bag.
  • Try breaking it down into steps. I will pack my stuff to go to the gym (hopefully you will feel dumb about packing stuff and then not using it.) I will go to the gym and do one easy/enjoyable thing. (hopefully once you are there you will try to make the most of it.) Good luck!
  • I have to agree with the consensus here. It is better to take a few days off now than to go and make yourself worse and have to take a few weeks off.
  • Me to. Of course if they are very similar or the same I pick the cheapo
  • This irritates me on a higher level that just weight. Everyone complains about stuff sometimes but I am not sympathetic to people who complain about the same thing over and over but won't take practical steps to deal with the issue.
  • I have a jogging mix on my player that has to have two qualities for me. It has to be upbeat and I have to not get sick of the songs easily b/c I am lazy and don't want to reload it much. Here are some of the songs: Oukast - BOB, Knowing April March - Chick Habit (from Deathproof) Tegan and Sarah - Walking with a Ghost,…
  • My dad was on several high blood pressure medications. He switched to a very low sodium diet and was able to stop medication altogether and lost a fair amount of weight while he was at it. I watch my sodium intake more than carbs or fat.
  • I don't totally cut out bad stuff but I will not have bad stuff in bulk in my house. Too much temptation. I can buy a candy bar but not a bag of candy bars. Stuff like ice cream, cakes, and chips are only bought when I know there will be people to share it so I don't eat it all. I find it easier to focus on what I should be…
  • There are two types of vitamins: fat soluble and water soluble. Water soluble vitamins act the way you said; your body takes what it needs and most of the rest is eliminated as waste. Excess fat soluble vitamins (A, D, E and K) are stored in fat and in the liver making it more likely to have negative consequences to…
  • >>What is the nutritional info per serving on this mayo substitute? Sounds yummy! If you are taking about my recipe, I did a little math and if you ate 1/8th of the recipe (1-2 tablespoons) it would be 63 calories.
  • I got this out of a vegetarian cookbook and I have not bought mayo since. It is not as thick as mayo but mimics the flavor well and is easy to make. 1 box silken tofu 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar 2 tsp sugar/honey/sweetener of your choice 1 tsp salt 1 tsp dijon mustard 2-3 tablespoons canola (or olive) oil mix in…
