  • I haven't done P90X, but Les Mills PUMP is an awesome workout and one that I recommend to anyone and everyone. I love Beachbody workouts and just finished my first round of PUMP.
  • Unfortunately, you cannot spot reduce. But, continuing to watch your calorie intake and exercise will help with fat lose. Do you lift weights? Building muscles help burn fat. I strength train 2-3 times a week with cardio on the other days. While I realize that you didn't say you wanted abs, toning and abdominal core work…
  • You might want to check out http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/bmr/ and see what it says in the chart after you enter your measurements. I also use http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm to determine my esimated calorie intake. Both sites are just guides to help you better understand and get started in the…
  • Agree... with the nonsense part :)
  • A lifestyle change is the only way to make the hard work stick. Dieting is temporary, but you still need a plan. Busting your butt is a good start, but what type of exercise will you use to do that? Will you change your eating habits? Limit or cut back on fried food, count calories, eat more veggies. All of those are good…
  • First off, great job on losing 14 lbs! You got started and that is the first step. Did you have a plan to lose 35 lbs or just a goal? Did you have a nutrition plan laid out and an exercise routine in order to meet that goal? 35lbs in 6 months is 1.3 lbs per week right? (I may have done that math wrong). Do you know how…
  • I don't have any suggestions on gaining, but I have always heard that abs are made in the kitchen. You, of course, need to do core work and exercises for that area to strengthen the muscles, but you can't spot treat. Make sure your nutrition is spot on. Cut junk foods, add whole foods.
  • You are certainly right. Don't deprive yourself. I never deprived myself either. I just choose to eat cake at our family birthdays and pass it up at work. Then it only meant cake a few times a year versus monthly.
  • I just had this discussion with my bff last night. I've always struggled with weight, she hasn't. She is finding it hard to lose weight and even harder to decide what day to start because of functions at work. I shared with her that our office has cake for bdays, etc on a regular basis. You have to decide what is more…
  • I started my fitness journey with TurboFire which is mainly cardio with some resistance training. After I finished that schedule I did ChaLEAN Extreme which is heavy lifting and low reps. I did NOT bulk up. I gained lean muscle and with that I was able to burn more fat and become smaller. Now I'm doing Les Mills PUMP using…
  • I wouldn't advise to drop the strength training. Muscle burns fat. It might make you hate the scale, but you will be smaller because a lb of muscle is smaller in size than a lb of fat. (i.e. 1 lb of muscle is more dense and takes up less space in your body than 1 lb of fat). I do however agree that changing a routine is…
  • Shop the perimeter of the grocery store for fresh foods. Try not to buy boxed stuff that has a long shelf life (i.e. junk food). Canned soups/veggies are ok on occassion but they have a lot of sodium in them. If you really like soup try making a huge pot that you can freeze using fresh/raw ingredients where you control…
  • Where did the idea of 140-145 come from? Have you weighed that before? I would answer those 2 questions and go from there. If 160 is something you have maintained and can meet then that would be my starting point. From there you will be able to look at things again and see where you want to be. I originally had a goal of…
  • Everyone is different, but for me I do a larger breakfast around 500 calories or so, then under 400 for lunch and about the same for dinner. My snacks range and I have more than 2 a day. Apple, almonds, grapes, etc. Sometimes I have 2 snacks at one time, but usually I break them up and have 1 between breakfast and lunch…
  • Not sure I agree with this. Your body will get used to the same routine. You have to push harder and mix things up to make changes. Maybe just my opinion... I am currently during strength training 3 days a week and work almost every group on the strength day. As others mentioned, do what works for you. Try out the schedule…
  • I am on day 52 on LMP. First round, and I also bought a few pairs of shorts (not bermuda) for the first time in years!!! Always always wore skirts and dresses because shorts just ride up. Not anymore!!!! :)
  • Today was Day 52 of PUMP (in home version). I LOVE it and it is a great compliment to the other beachbody programs I do. I'm getting ready to start the 3rd phase with rotations of Pump Extreme and Pump Revolution. Intense workouts for sure!!! Ready to melt the fat away.
  • Favorite: Squats because my legs are super strong. Least Favorite: Shoulders because my shoulders are so weak haha. But really I have a love/hate relationship with a lot of the exercises. I know the ones that are really tough are really working. Planning to get some more plates for those squats though. They might not be my…
  • I always did those back to back. As long as they were less than a hour (or really close) I had time to do them in the morning. I perfer to workout early.
  • I sent you a message. I found a few other TF groups on here and joined those, but I'll be glad to joing another :).
  • Thanks! Chalene does Turbo Kick, Hustle and PLYO all of which are classes taught in gyms. A lot of her classes incorpoate kickboxing moves, but I'm not sure about Piloxing . Haven't heard of that. Off to check that out.
  • To be honest, my nutrition wasn't where it needed to be when I started PUMP. I am pretty much at my goal weight and want to tone up. Today is day 52 and I have been focused more on the food side for the past 2.5 weeks. I got a fitbit and am able to track things better to ensure I get the right about of calories. Before I…
  • Totally agree. Been there done that. Then I finally learned about nutiriton and exercise and learned how to lose weight eating well and exercising. Been successful again and for longer than ever. Educate yourself on exercise and nutrition and you will one day understand.
  • I think a lot of people experience this. You just remember that this is a lifestyle change. Most people can't eat cheeseburgers, fries, pizza and ice cream everyday and be heathly (not sure if anyone can). For me nothing is off limits, but everything is in moderation. I love pizza but just limit when I enjoy it. I may take…
  • You can order the advanced DVDs only for about $60 on teambeachbody. The advanced deluxe package is what costs $120 which includes weighted gloves and a jumping mat. Personally I think the DVDs are totally worth it! I LOVE Fire 60, but I also love HIIT 30 and the upper and lower 20 minute workouts. I am not a fan of the…
  • I've been doing Turbo for over a year and LOVE it!
  • I think everyone might be different when it comes to cardio and strength and the order. I usually do cardio first and then strength, but if it is a really intense cardio workout then I might do strength first because if I push too hard during cardio then I don't have enough strength to get through that workout. Does that…
  • Turbo Jam, Turbo Fire, ChaLEAN Extreme grad here! Can you tell I love Chalene! Turbo Fire is by far my favorite! I'm doing Les Mills PUMP now with Turbo Fire on the walking sessions. I'll be buying the new Turbo Fire workouts when they release tomorrow. So exciting!
  • Insanity is an intense workout and if you give it 100% then you burn a lot of calories. If you give it 50% you probably still burn a ton of calories ;) .... Make sure you get your goal for the day. A handful of nuts (almonds, pistachios, walnuts) are a good way to add to that goal. I think you will see a larger loss if you…
  • As hard as it may be to accept... It takes time. You didn't get to where you are now in a month or two, so you won't be able to change to something else in a month or two. You need to also be getting very close to your calorie goal for the day. Don't go too low or your deficit will become too large. I would consider eating…
