Oh, I totally know men do it too- I am surrounded by personal friends and family (males) who lift heavy, and can see how much that changes their physique! I only singled out ladies, since I don't know many personally that lift heavy, and was curious to see how much it changes a female shape. I really should have just said…

Dear lord, why!?

See a doctor for the discomfort, but as far as your stomach visibly looking bigger, see above. If that's you in your profile photo, you are small with lower body fat, there is nothing to hide the fact that you put something in your belly :)

My general rule of thumb for myself, when I was in maintenance, is looking at a week, rather than individual days. Say my maintenance was exactly 2000 cals to make this easy- One day I might go out with friends, consume 2500 calories because those nachos just looked too darn good. The next day I might eat 1500 calories…

Great job!!! You look awesome.

You all look AMAZING!!!! Thanks for the inspiration :)

Holy sh.... you look phenomenal!!!

I am no expert by any means (just getting into lifting heavy), but I have found that on moves that work multiple muscles, it feels like "hard work", but I don't feel it in ONE muscle- that is because it isn't one muscle doing all the work! This is not bad- when you lift a heavy item in your daily life, you aren't using…

Really?? She didn't need to lose an ounce of weight in the first pics (I would be thrilled to like like that!) but you can see a lot of tightening between the before and afters. She has obviously done some work between the two sets of photos, and it shows!!!

I can see a BIG difference lady! I would be very proud of those results :) Like others have said, strength training will do a lot for you. I am also at around 8lbs to lose, and it is definitely harder the closer you get to your goal (mind you, I'm 5'5 and aiming for 124, so it's probably still a bit less difficult than…

PPs have said most of what I would have, so I won't beat a dead horse. I will reiterate that walking certainly will burn calories for you! If you are looking to see changes in your body, though, doing something different in addition certainly won't hurt. Lifting heavy, swimming, bicycling, rollerblading, trying some…

I'm in! My goal is 12000 steps a day right now. Love step/mile challenges!

You look amazing!!! I needed this for motivation today- your "progress photo" is what I would be absolutely stoked to look like :)

MaryT- I know what you mean. I've gotten through 3 weeks, and am really enjoying the results so far, but I got a weightlifting bar and some weights because I was just getting so darn bored! I have a tough time sticking to something that bores me. But I have learned a lot of great moves from it, and I plan to go forward…

I agree. If you really want to lose a little weight, maybe eat at a 100-200 calorie deficit while weight training, but lifting some weight should get you there :)

Yay! :) Good job!

Two days won't undo your progress just like two days won't make it! It's a lifestyle change- I indulged yesterday and am planning on having some leftovers today- I worked out extra today to accomodate it. I feel no guilt. Even if I hadn't done the extra workout, I would just get right back at it tomorrow. No need to view…

I AM new here, in fact, and trying to learn! I totally deserve any snark and sarcasm that comes my way, I'm a complete noob. But I'm working with what I know, what I've done, and the weights I own. If you have a better suggestion, or a reason why I'm in the wrong, I would love to hear it. (I know that this is the internet,…

Smartazz  Have one, own one, enjoy it. I just enjoy gadgets too, and they keep me motivated. I know they don't replace genuine hard work. But they motivate me, and for me that's priceless.

Thanks, I have heard so much good about Fitbits!

Just looked it up- LOVE the look of it!!! But... it looks like it's not available if you have a Samsung Galaxy to sync. If I'm wrong, let me know, but that's a limiter for me if it's true.

Measurements, photos, keeping track of how much weight you can lift... I am just starting strength training over the last month and I have been doing photos, will do measurements once all of my stuff comes in from overseas (I just moved back to Hawaii). I can tell you that I have not lost NEARLY as much weight as I would…

So many great responses guys! So, trying to figure out the general consensus in my case, I'm getting: -Keep doing the once a week kettlebell core focused workout (plenty of squats, deadlifts, etc in there), because that is getting my abs most of what they need. - My 10-15 minute sessions twice a week while watching TV may…

I know that it has a plethora of health benefits, I just wouldn't want someone to think it's a huge metabolism booster that can outweigh other factors. Assuming a TDEE of 2000, a 4% increase in metabolism would still only mean 80 calories. OP, I almost exclusively drink it cold! I live in Hawaii, so hot beverages are…
