As someone said above, I don't find the the glass of wine to be the problem- but the lack of self-control that comes with it! :). I can make room for the drink, but can't always predict what I'll end up snacking on with it. Not usually worth it- but sometimes, it most definetly is :).

I agree- nothing else makes sense. But it would be nice to see a measureable difference. It probably is somehow a measurement error. Although I've stayed at the same BF% for months and months using the same methods. So I feel fairly confident about the starting %. But even with measurable losses in inches, the BF stayed…

Yes- I hear you about sweating the details. I'm really not so much. I just don't want to continue to lose if I'm somehow losing more LBM than fat. I'm already fairly lean (about 19%), but am trying to get to 15%- so for me, it is all small changes and numbers. And for me a 4 pound loss is almost 4% of my weight (I weight…

Bump for later....sooooo happy to have found this!!!!

I do them 2-3 times a week, at the end of my weight lifting. It's too intense to do on non-weight days b/c it would hinder recovery. But I do the original 4 minute Tabata- sometimes outside with sprints/ walking, sometimes on stationary bike or 4 different exercises (burgees, mountain climbers etc). I always feel like I've…

I would join! Great idea!

I just started my cut this week too. I decided to start with 10%, figuring that leaves room to go down again if I need to. Are you ladies going to do a planned diet break? I was thinking the week of Christmas/ New Years might be a good opportunity to eat at TDEE for a week. I'm paranoid about my metabolism slowing down…

Congratulations on sticking it out!

I'm a BSN, MSN, and I am so sorry you are going through all this. I agree with other posters that Nursing School is a special kind of hell. It's like the mindset is "I endured it, so you have to as well.Is uufered, so I'll make you suffer." What's with that? I think it's partially because most of the nursing field is…

This is a very interesting and thought provoking thread to me. I'm a petite 5'3" CW 107. GW 100-105. Looking at all these pix of you gorgeous ladies at 115-125 and wondering if my goal is good. I like that lean/ athletic look but many of you have that at much higher weights than I am. I am currently about 19% BF and…

@CanGirl40- I'm 5'3", about 19-20% BF, and 107 lbs after reset. According to Sccoby, my BMR is about 1200, TDEE for moderate activity is 1875 and for light activity is 1660. I have a FitBit that I wear all the time which has my average burn over the past month at 1800. And considering that I haven't really gained or lost…

@blueeyedangel- OK. Why not? Pros and cons?

Hi there and welcome! Sounds like a reset is a great decision. You should go to your settings and set it for your TDEE (2400), although this will be your gross calories consumed, not NET. How did you get your numbers? Did you use a calculator like www.scoobysworshop.com or did MFP give them to you? Your TDEE is based on…

This pic is cool and she is hard core. Love it! BUT- please indulge my pet peeve for a moment- pregnant women are not necessarily 'fat'. They are pregnant!! They need to gain weight, including some fat, to have a healthy baby. It's part of the sacrifice of motherhood. It's a beautiful thing and I think somewehere along the…

Just experienced this today. I have noticed the fat on my belly getting really 'squish' and looking different. And I had been the exact same weight for 8 days, and within a pound of that for week before. Then this morning, 2 pounds and .5 inch gone overnight with no change in diet/ exercise. Gotta love it. And I'm eating…

Thanks guys! I will stick with the same plan for now. I've also noticed an increase in hunger, which I think is a good thing. It's kind of crazy- when I look at the stats from my FitBit, it looks like I should be gaining weight. I have consistently been eating (slightly) more than I've been burning- at least per my FitBit.…

I would go up to strenuous, or, maybe even more appropriate, I would decrease the cardio and stay at moderate. That's a LOT of cardio (especially if you include the walking), and it may hurt your weight lifting, whihc is your best frined for fat loss. Just a thought.

OK- I've been eating at TDEE (1800) for a month now, and I have to say, it's going better than I expected. I've gone up 2-3 pounds (depending on the day), but my measurements are basically the same, so I am attributing most of that weight to water/bloating. I based my TDEE off of my Fitbit, but after looking at all the…

I'm 41, 5'3" and have just been doing EM2WL for about a month. I've been tracking on MFP for over a year eating VLC. I don't really need to lose weight, but I definetly do need a healthier relationship with food. I went from 92 lbs to about 105 over the past year eating 700-1000 calories a day before I finally decided I…

Thank HeyBales! That is a good suggestion. However, I do already add in my lifting time. I just add it manually using the MFP numbers, whihc I agree are pretty good. When I have used my HRM to test them, they come out pretty close. So I think the FitBit is probably pretty actuate. Thanks for the info on hunger. I guess I…

As someone 3 weeks into a reset and struggling with the weight gain, this is VERY encouraging! Thanks so much for sharing!!! And congratulations!

Thanks! Makes sense.

hi All, well...I think I'm finally ready. I've been on this low calorie road virtually my entire life. I've battled an ED for much of that time, and I seriously, aside from inpatient care for ED, don't think I've EVER eaten my TDEE. It's time. I know this is going to be painful. I've been pushing my calories up from about…

Thanks for the feedback guys. I am definetly increasing the cals slowly as I found I was miserable trying to do it all at once. Just one point of clarification needed: still confused on whether I need to eat different amounts based on activity. I thought the point of using an average TDEE was to find an average intake. I…

Totally needed to hear this today. Thanks so much for sharing. You are inspiring! Sending you a FR :).

I'm in the exact same boat- clean and pressing the bar over my head into position. I lift at home and don't have a gym option, so I don't feel I have many choices. If I uses dumbells, should I just hold them, or put them on my shoulders? Not sure how to best use them. But I won't be able to squat much heavier if I don't…

This is really helpful input, gals. Thanks. I'm not sure I'm totally mentally there to do a real bulk, either :). Seems like a bad time of year to purposely be putting on weight (with bathing suits and all- ugh!). Maybe I should cut for a couple of months, plan for a bulk in the fall, and just keep lifting to maintain lean…

My goal is to gain muscle and lose fat. I've been calorie cycling depending on lifting/ non-lifting days, but maybe I should just eat the same every day? The scooby calculator gave me a TDEE of 1655 at lightly active which is also the nuber it is giving me for "gain muscle lose fat". Sound reasonable? I've also been…

Bump. Help please :).

Same thing every day: 5-6 egg whites with a cup of chopped vegges (onion, peppers, mushrooms) and 1 slice of pepper jack cheese. And sometimes a serving a fruit. Oh, and always coffee with skim milk....absolutely necessary :). High protein, plus a full serving of veggies (and sometimes a fruit serving, too!)
