  • I like the Mission brand low carb whole wheat tortillas (the smaller one, not the Fajitas one). its good for me watching carbs! Tastes like it has a bit of honey in it. Great for tacos!
  • Easy answer - Because she wants to eat according to these parameters. No explanation necessary. She just WANTS to.
  • and watch out for gym trainers who say "walking out side wont do you as good as being in the gym" they most like want to sell you trainer sessions = $$$$$
  • Tried Halo Top.. did not care for it.. too watery. not worth it! if im going to have ice cream its gotta be excellent. LIke Breyers churned!
  • I mean the IIFYM folks will say any food is good. So im putting in a disclaimer that some people are selective about the foods they eat and so comparing watermelon to some candy treat - the watermelon would be worth it nutritionally.

  • The answer to all these alleged "hidden" sugars is this - learn all you can. Learn what the different names for sugar is - sucrose, fructose, lactose, cane sugar, white sugar, brown sugar, etc. (theres more).. then you don't have to be surprised. And learn that the ingredients in foods are listed in order of quantity.…
  • Now that i have not been eating much refined sugar products, the food that has sugar in it, is very sweet. so here is what i do - bbq sauce is too much sugar, but ketchup is better and even better than that - salsa. you can really change your food choices if you want to enjoy sauce, but not be so sweet.
  • For the benefits you get from some food, its worth it. For me, it is way better to have a bowl of watermelon than a piece of cake. I don't mean all you IIFYM folks, but for people who want to choose more nutritious food vs a treat.

  • Hmmm, well maybe.. thats usually what people say when they mean they are going to cut out the refined sugars, i.e. cake, pie, Snickers bars, etc.
  • Yes im trying to do low carb but not the very stringent keto he is doing. I have pre-diabetes. Yet, with the little bit i eat, even if one serving is 4-8 carbs, its still within my carb macros.
  • Generally, that sounds like a pretty good eating plan. You will know when you see it work for you or not. Whatever made you re-gain 100 pounds that you worked so hard to lose - THAT is what i would focus on and not do those things again. You learned what worked for you in the past and what messed you up regaining. Remember…
  • I interpret what the OP says and means is she is cutting out refined sugars and added sugars.
  • We all want the scale to move quickly! To handle the fretting about it when it does not move as you want - here is what helps me - Patience, realizing that weight loss is not always downward and the same, sometimes you have gains, one pound a week loss, 2 ounces of weight loss a day, etc. Also remember that each day is a…
  • oh that is helpful. thank you so much :) i'm going to keep that in mind when i go shopping this weeknd for groceries.
  • ok then that is helpful info from everyone! i just started adding fruit to my keto diet, and maybe in a week or two i will add some grains and see how that works on me. If i test it a week then i will have a better idea .
  • but I still want to know how I can manage the high carb complex carbs . im thinking if I stay with up to 100 per day, if I go over a bit on some days, it might not make a difference in the overall month. but I don't want to start messing around and being very cautious. I'm also not looking to eat IIFM with refined carbs…
  • 2 GOALS - lose weight (controlled mostly by calories) and reverse the pre-diabetes. Doc said I could do 50 - 100 total carbs. Tryin to see from others here how I can manage the hi-carb complex carbs like rice, beans.
  • if you keep your calories under control, you can probably eat more carbs than you think especially if it has a lot of nutrients in it. i.e berries.. so 20 carbs, that's nothing. But so worth it for the fiber and vitamins. the bad carbs if you want to classify it - is cake, pastries, etc.. so those things could be…
  • i do 50 - 100 carbs because i have a pre-diabetes thing im trying to reverse (and its working!)
  • This is encouraging to read for those of us who think our weight loss is slower than we want it to be. I know how the OP feels about "only losing 9 pounds in two months".. people say thats great.. it sure is hard for the person to feel that it is! so this is actually encouraging to read that 1 pound a week IS great! Thank…
  • Coffee and cream in the morning.
  • Swiss Rolls are 3 jillion calories!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • when I was little, I never was hungry, never bothered to eat breakfast. and I never got on the morning orange juice kick.. even now, seems like orange juice is the common food item in restaurants, they even give you free o.j. but I don't like it, didn't like the junk floating around on top (maybe that's why!).. too…
  • Whatever that is, it looks awful!

  • For me, i am on month 3 of this. i was doing keto/low carb (whichever one i could do in a day). month 2 weight stalled. since last week i upped my carbs to 100 total, and added fruits, and doc told me its basically i will lose weight counting calories and keeping carbs 100 or less to reverse pre-diabetes. i lost more…
  • Rarely for a meal do I go get fast food.. I make one exception - sopraffina restaurant.. which has quick salads and oatmeal and stuff I can eat - to go.. when I have been too busy to cook my own food. the other stuff is just too tempting.
  • ye found that out, mad at my wasted 4 weeks thinking I was going to lose weight if I just kept on doing what I was doing.
  • I was doing that keto diet too. when I started adding in the heavy whipping cream, and the extra butter to meet the fat requirements, I was going over my calories. they say you don't need to watch calories, but that is a mistake. Watch your calories, they will stall you. I stalled 4 weeks!!! then went back to lower fat and…
  • thanks for your kind answer! I am reversing pre-diabetes and that is what the doc recommended. Its actually more carbs than I allowed myself. MFP allows me like 200 or more, and so that is too high for my goals. I had started on the LCHF diet and so fruit was not ok. I am learning that its calories that are making me lose…
  • the 2 slices of pizza might not cause you to gain weight, but if that food begins to add weight, and you continue to eat it, then that 2 slices of pizza might not be your best choice. See how it goes over the course of a few weeks whether it slows down your goals or makes no difference.
