It's been a while since I lived in the UK, but I remember M&S had great sandwiches, and the Boots shapers line had a pretty good range. I'm sure either one of those would have calorie counts on their 'diet' items, as they did back in the mid-90's. I'm sure any prepackaged sushi is going to come in at a very low calorie…

I drink 16oz of French pressed coffee in the morning, with a splash of milk. I have been caffeine-free for about 3 months when I was working with a naturopath to helped my stressed out adrenal glands, so yes, I know I could go without coffee again. The first three days were nasty - headaches as bad as a migraine, but after…

I found the following helped: -small portions, and snacking twice a day to better align with a constant but low release of bile by the liver, which is no longer stored in the gallbladder -going vegetarian, as I found I tolerated plant oils much better than say, on a steak or pork chop -eating eggs, because the yolk…

I've lost 80. And counting - working on the last 13 or so!

^^ Her workouts are amazing - effective, doable, and don't take up much time. But her stance on nutrition keeps changing, and she has commercial ventures, eg weight loss apps etc. I love her DVD's, but not her food plans or other products.

I tried it when I did the Tone It Up plan where you're not allowed 'starch' after lunch. The problem was that I didn't feel full in the evenings, and that led to headaches, crankiness towards bedtime, and impacted the quality of my sleep. Allegedly, you won't burn off the calories since you're going to bed in a few hours,…

I have a mister with oil so just a spritz is enough to make sure eggs don't stick! I love overnight oats: 1/2 cup quick oats 1 cup milk (dairy, almond, soy all work well) 2 tbsp. chia seeds, ground flaxseeds, or wheatgerm 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (optional, but helps you stay full) 1 tsp vanilla (optional) natural…

If the applesauce is unsweetened, then you're fine. I would question lowfat yogurt, as it's often really high in added sugars. That being said, if a small container of yogurt staves off cravings for something sweet and creamy, go for it! MFP can't distinguish between fruit sugars and added, so don't worry about it at all.

I'm British, but I live in Canada now :)

Feel free to add me. My diary is open to friends.

I have to say, being recently diagnosed with celiac disease (a real one, not a 'you might have it'), seeing gluten-free stuff everywhere is pretty handy. I still have to read labels on every packaged food I buy though. It's sad that this is the latest so-called healthy trend.

MFP can't distinguish between fruit sugars and added processed sugars. Don't worry about it. In your settings, you can change sugar to another nutrient if you like :)

I did c25k back a few years ago. It definitely can happen! Just focus on one foot in front of another, breathing naturally, and it will happen. I run with my iPod so having upbeat music helped. Then I found a podcast (this was pre-app) that had music and beeps to walk/run, so I didn't have to focus on anything other than…

True, but they're inexpensive and cleanup of the magic/nutri bullet is way easier than the big Oster blender we have. On a daily basis, we find it motivates us to make a smoothie as there aren't so many things to clean up (being that you mix in the container you drink out of...). Our Oster is only used for giant batches of…

The nutribullet does a better job with kale or spinach than the magic bullet. The cups are also bigger with the nutribullet, which is important as greens take up a lot of space! I had a magic bullet for years (used at least three times a day: 2 smoothies for me and the hubs, and grinding coffee/making stirfry sauce etc.)…

I could drink a 2L bottle of diet coke in a few minutes and still want more. Here are the tangible benefits of giving it up: My cravings for sweet food, and my appetite overall, dropped. I can eat fewer calories over the course of the day without it. I don't get headaches mid-afternoon from lack of caffeine. One 16-oz mug…

Yep, I've experienced that! Just get back on the clean eating wagon, and you'll be better again in a day or two.

Boiling the chicken is going to cook it without extra sodium or fat, but I don't know if it would taste good? The China Study is pretty fascinating actually... watch Forks over Knives (it's on Canadian Netflix, so I imagine it's in other countries') for an overview. Basically, it's low-fat, whole plant-based eating. Animal…

Running makes me hungry at night. Doesn't matter whether I do it in the morning or afternoon. I just make sure I have some extra complex carbs at night. Make sure you're eating enough through the day so that your body isn't genuinely asking for food. Similarly, hydrate! Sometimes I just have hungry days where I need more…

I can add eatcleandiet.com, theleangreenbean.com, eatingwell.com (not quite as clean, have to look), and vegetariantimes.com (more general, but veggie-centric, and sortable by dietary need) as well. The kitchen table at eat clean diet is probably the best :) if you're running out of ideas there, then you're probably an…

Haven't noticed it due to humidity as it's dry here, but the heat combined with 4 plane rides in one week definitely contributed. On the other hand, I'm down 4 of the 6 I gained last week already. Holy fluctuation, Batman!

Congratulations! I'm tearing up a little bit here on your behalf. How beautiful!

My son has autism and sensory issues around food, so I have experience with not liking new foods. Try just one at a time. Take a tomato and cut it up into slices. Aim for one slice at each meal. Go slow. Figure out if plain, seasoned, or in a dip is going to work best for you. Tell yourself positive messages about the…

I just took a look at your food diary, and you're eating a lot of processed foods. While you're doing fine in terms of calories, you're not giving your body adequate nutrition. Try adding fruit (raw, not canned) to breakfast and snacks, and add vegetables (fresh or frozen, but watch canned and presauced/seasoned ones) to…

Support for the person above me: try adding some fruit or veggies to breakfast. My personal favourite breakfast right now is: -1 cup unsweetened almond milk (for the EFA's, and not as inflammatory as dairy can be, but dairy milk will work nicely too) -1 scoop protein powder - vanilla works best as it complements the fruit…

For exercise, take the kids to the park or playground and play with them. You'll increase your own fitness, and help them with habits that will last a lifetime. Experiment with exercise DVD's that get a workout done in 20 minutes or so - Jillian Michaels has a ton of them. On days where I feel time-pressed, I could either…

Definitely go see the doctor. Even if you don't go for a biopsy, blood testing can show you have celiac (or strong possibility). Make sure you have had gluten daily for 3 days before testing so that you show sensitivity.

Most general practicing doctors only have 8 hours of nutrition training as part of their initial training. Anything else they may have done is above and beyond on their own time. If you'd like specific support, try a registered dietician (free in Canada, not sure about elsewhere in the world). It's pretty typical to lose a…

I try for 1/3 each protein, veggies, and carbs in my lunches. I blog my lunches (not for profit, so I make nothing if you click on my site: http://veggiebentolove.wordpress.com. They usually come in at 350-450 cals each. My typical lunchboxes are between 500-600 mL (around 16-18oz) so it's about portion control as well as…
