You have to give it time. I still struggle every once in a while when I see a photo of myself, or pick a size 12 and it's loose (although I remember the victory that finally fitting into the 12 was). You won't be gaining the weight back because you know so much more about what your body needs and how to keep it healthy.…

I hear you! Try not to weigh that week, or remember what's going on with your body and don't let it discourage you.

Completely normal. Keep doing what you're doing, and you will see results. It took me a long time to lose 80lbs - every body is different. Hang in there, give it good effort, and good things will happen.

I don't think a 6-8 is unrealistic. I can sometimes get into size 8 clothing on the upper half of my body. I still have a loose poochy thing on my belly from being pregnant with a 9lb+ baby boy for 9.5 months. That's probably why a 10 in pants is where I'll stay. I'm 36 and weigh what I did when I was 20, so even if I…

I'm 5'8.5". 245: size 18-20 200- size 14 180- size 12 again for the first time in a long time! currently 165 and in a size 10-12. I can fit into clothing I wore when I was 21. Not bad.

Absolutely change up how you eat and how you move if you've hit a plateau. Try carb cycling: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/bbinfo.php?page=CarbCycling and remember to increase or change your exercise. I found the low-carb days difficult, but it did bust a plateau for me. Are you neglecting any one or more of: daily rest…

Life is no better or worse before or after weight loss. The pressures in my life before are still there, and the awesomeness is still there. My husband still finds me just as attractive as before, I am as effective in my career, my friendships are as rewarding and fulfilling. I see so many stories in magazines and on TV…

The best thing someone did or said to me while on my weight loss journey is . . . I know you worked really hard to lose the weight, and I'm so glad you've kept it off all these years because that's the really hard part. You look awesome - can we meet for coffee and you can tell me how you did it? (from a bestie who I…

It only really bothers me when people lose weight by not exercising and eating crap, but not very much of it. I try and be healthy and exercise lots and it took me years to lose the 80lbs I did. Yes, I'm healthy, but still... I had moments of anger.

Try and get healthy fats in - avocado, nuts, seeds. Those foods are full of energy and nutrition. You really can't go wrong. If you've been using low fat or no fat dairy products, try going back to 2% milk and yogurt with some fat in it. My favourite smoothie is: 1 scoop vanilla protein powder 1 cup almond milk (can use…

I eat breakfast every day, no matter what. I also have lunch every day. As for snacks, I have one in the morning and usually one in the afternoon. There are some days, usually in winter when I'm not burning extra sneaky calories by yardwork etc. when I'm not hungry for dinner. This doesn't happen often. I plan for dinner…

My son is Autistic because I ate gluten and drank dairy (casein) when pregnant. (He really does have Autism Spectrum Disorder, and I consume gluten and dairy, but I'm pretty sure many kids are born without Autism when gluten and casein are consumed.)

I did one, and lasted precisely a day. If you're like me and have naturally low blood sugar you'll be dizzy and light-headed (oh pardon me, "will feel the effects of your body's cleansing systems resetting your body and detoxifying") and want to pass out when you stand up. Yes, you'll lose weight, but it's temporary…

I make overnight oats: 1/2 cup quick oats 1 cup milk of choice (I've used dairy, soy, almond and all work - sweetened almond milk is the tastiest, but contains sugar, so.. yeah) 1 tbsp chia seeds (optional, but lovely fibre and essential fatty acids) Place all in a container overnight. In the morning this just needs to be…

So is drinking a bottle of red wine the same as eating 12 grapes? What a healthy snack that will be tomorrow!

If you lost so much weight that you lost your period, then it's probably okay to gain some back. If you're concerned about the side effects, then either contact your doctor by phone or seek out one near where you are now. Whatever route you decide to take, your overall health is important. Take care of yourself.

I have some loose skin, but my skin is not very elastic... the slower you lose the weight, the better, and skin does resolve a lot of looseness over time. Even though I have some loose skin, I still look smoking hot!

I am a snacker. Between needing to be on a low-fat diet due to minor medical issues, and having hypoglycemia and hitting low blood sugar very quickly, I cannot sustain a day without a snack. For me, it's about snacking smart. I usually have a good-quality granola bar in my purse for hunger emergencies, and I plan a healthy…

My crappy old capris that I use for gardening/taking recycling etc. are loose from last fall. Guess who lost inches over winter? Huzzah!

Try going to a couple of thrift stores in your area. I lost 80lbs and it is both incredibly empowering to take laundered clothing that's too big for you and celebrate your success (and know that you're not gaining it back) and helpful to pick up clothes that fit you now and celebrate how far you've come. I cycled through…

Haven't tried it - but how could GSP lead us astray? His RushFit was amazing - did a vid with a friend who has the program and it kicked my butt in a great way.

When I did the buffets at Vegas, I only made 2 trips. The first was to the salad bar, where I loaded up on greens and other tasty low-cal plants with a little dressing - stay off the mayo-ey things (food poisoning isn't fun and that's risky food anyway in addition to being high in calories). Once I'd eaten my way through…

Asics gel - nimbus 13 are what I'm in right now. That being said, I've also done very nicely with New Balance 1060/1062 (although they've since changed their numbering system) and Mizuno wave creator. Go to a running store and try on :)

I only log it if it's a marathon shopping session. Just a trip to the grocery store, no, as that's part of daily life. But a full day of thrifting or mall-ratting, yes, that's a workout! Usually end up starving hungry afterwards, so that's a good sign that it's burning calories imho.

Healthy body and mind! That's what it's about :)

I've been there with instructors brushing me off because I was bigger. I've also heard condescending comments about how awesome I'm doing even though I'm bigger. I think that for some people, unless they've had a gain and lose journey, they really don't understand and they may be well-meaning even though they miss the…

You (general you, not you specifically) don't actually have to combine foods - that thinking was around in the 80's. As long as you eat a variety of foods through the day, same as an omnivore would, you will be fine.
-
Breakfast - free range eggs from chickens I know are looked after (my friend keeps hens), either whey or vegan protein powder, and higher-protein cereals - Kashi GoLean, for example. Lunch - hummus/beans/edamame (young soybeans in pods)/some cheese/tofu/faux meats on occasion when I'm pressed for time/quinoa Dinner -…

If you're concerned about the calories but like a little flavour in there, go for unsweetened almond milk and add a dash of vanilla. Then you get the benefits of yummy almond vanilla milk, but none of the sugar :)

^This. I have been a health teacher, but now I'm teaching special ed. There are ways to empower people to learn about healthy habits without ever calling on individuals.
