  • I think you did the right thing - your body is trying to tell you something. I wonder if you are pushing yourself too hard on the other days? Overtraining can backfire and actually reduce your performance level.
  • I've had those days before, in fact I'm having one of those weeks now :-) I think as you start seriously getting in shape, starting to lose, and working out, we become much more acutely aware of how we look and feel, and see all of those flaws we were able to block out before. It's important to keep focusing on the…
  • I'm always looking to add friends where it's a two-way street - I look forward to those little motivational messages too :-) Sending you an invite.
  • July 21 - 198 calories - light day today, I was exhausted yesterday between running and swimming, and then I couldn't sleep, so I think my body needs a little rest (not sure running in 101 degrees is really rest, but...).
  • Wow, I'm impressed by all that you have overcome already - you definitely have the inner strength to reach your goals and get back into top shape. Good luck, and feel free to add me.
  • Losing weight is really about 95% food intake, 5% exercise - so chances are it has to do with what you are eating, or the amounts. Exercising really won't offset going over on calories or bad food choices - most people vastly overestimate the amount they burn by working out and underestimate what they are consuming.…
  • I'm curious too - I just started swimming laps every morning, and it seems like it a really, really good exercise - much more strenuous than running (I run 3-4 miles several times a week) without the wear and tear on the joints. I can't imagine that burning all those calories doesn't burn fat - and I've heard it's one of…
  • July 20 - 527 Calories I'm so impressed by everyones burns - this is great!
  • I'm so sorry about your cat - I went through the same thing last year with my baby Freddy-Bear, who developed renal lymphoma and went into renal failure all of a sudden, at 10. Take as much time as you can to be with him, take lots of pictures, make as many memories as you can in the time he has left. Then take as…

  • Ditto this - it has a very well defined schedule to get you from walking to jogging/running. The biggest thing to remember is to not try to go too fast - the slower you go, the longer you can sustain it.
  • I just checked the map and we're moving up! We've passed a few boats! Just goes to show what some comitment and determination will do. Yay us!!! :drinker:
  • Yay you! That's great - enjoy!
  • Oh dear - but why am I still seeing the banner under everyone's post? Are we talking about something different? BTW, I've lost track of who's on our boat at this point (aside from the regulars who post on this thread, but that's not everyone, I hope, since it doesn't seem like 15 of us post here) - is there a current crew…
  • 7/18 - 404 calories - sorry, couldn't quite get to 500, even though I moved and did something for 82 minutes AND swam laps with people watching (well, they were around the pool, probably paying no attention to me) which is really outside my comfort zone (but when kids started doing canonballs into the (small) pool, there…
  • Stick with it - you will get there - everyone starts at their own level - do your own thing til you get to the level C25K starts at, and then follow it, repeating weeks if you need to. Running/jogging is very different from other forms of cardio. Last year I was doing step aerobics regularly, and had run before, but when I…
  • Typical morning in my house :-) One of my cats is named BamBam, for good reason...
  • Wow, that's incredible and inspirational - thanks for posting!
  • Go under exercise and search in the database for those items - then check and see how many calories burned per minute, vs calories burned per minute running. I just checked and for me, jumping jacks appear roughly equivalent to a 12 min/mile. Personally, I think the jumping jacks are harder, and running in place about the…
  • Oh, one more thing to add - recently, when I run outside I've been thinking - how long until fall gets here? I hate TX... Geez, I thought 99 degrees was bad, that would feel beautiful right about now... will it ever get below 100 degrees again? How can I make enough money to afford a summer home in Maine or Alaska?
  • There are a few turbo-burners on the Row the World CREWS loop looking for a ship, if they haven't been picked up yet - I say we grab 1-2 of them. There's one named Spice who even has something about Jack Sparrow in her post - could be fate :-)
  • Depends, some days I think about work, some days like Avalonis said I think about every step and breath and how far until I'm finished, and on really good days, I think about a story I'm writing and do some brainstorming.
  • That mindset is pretty much a recipe for failure for anyone - if you go back to doing the same thing as you did before, you'll get the same results as you did before - weight gain. To think differently is delusional. It has to be a lifestyle change to last. Same input, same results. Change input to change results. On a…
  • 926/1440 minutes complete, 514 to go. I can do this!
  • On her 30 DS DVD, Jillian says that if you have an injury that keeps you from doing lower body work, that you can still get a great cardio workout from punching moves (ie, the top-body half of a kick-boxing/martial arts type workout) - I've tried it a few times and it does really get your heart rate up - maybe look into…
  • Count me in - I need to burn at least 500/day, so I'll set my goal at 3500.
  • It may have to do with the heat - not sure where you live and how bad it is, and whether you run inside or out, but here in TX, it has definitely been affecting me and the other runners I know - I felt so strong back in June, and moved up to a faster/longer running group, and this week I felt like I was dying when I ran…
  • Wow, congratulations!
  • 35.55 miles this week - combo of running, swimming (a whole .1 miles!) and stationary bike. The Row the World Challenge is really making me work and boost my totals. So, I am now up to 122.2 miles
