  • Nova Scotia here! There are several more region specific groups, but here is the link to a Canadian wide group :D http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/275-canadian-eh
  • Glad it turned out! The veggies aren't necessary as it's really the broth you're after, but they do add more flavor to the broth itself. I always use celery, carrots and onions and sometimes a few other veggies that may be laying around the fridge.
  • Good luck! I think you'll get it this time :D
  • I agree with monkeydharma on this one. I used to be addicted to diet coke when I was in university, couldn't go a day without it. I had to cut it out cold turkey, even having one can would make me cave and have another. Now I understand why and it's just like monkeydharma says. Even though it's an artificial sugar with no…
  • I'm igotaducky on there :) I joined awhile ago too but only really started using it within the past few weeks.
  • I have tried it when running short on time in the mornings, but typically I prefer my coffee black and coupled with some bacon and eggs :D
  • Intermittent Fasting for men is a little bit different than IF for women. http://www.paleoforwomen.com/shattering-the-myth-of-fasting-for-women-a-review-of-female-specific-responses-to-fasting-in-the-literature/ This isn't to say that IF doesn't work for women, there are certainly women out there who use it all the time…

  • I'd just like to point out that gloves don't actually mean no more calluses. You can still get calluses using gloves. I suggest taking a better look at the way you are holding/gripping the bar while you're performing your deadlifts, etc. Here are some links to check out:…
  • For breakfast sausages I use this one mostly, but there are plenty out there! http://cavemanfood.blogspot.ca/2009/03/turkey-or-pork-breakfast-sausage.html There's a recipe for Italian Sausage spices in Well Fed that I really love as well. I've used that one with ground beef and ground pork with good success. You can…
  • Check out the Carbohydrate curve from Mark's Daily Apple http://www.marksdailyapple.com/the-primal-carbohydrate-continuum/#axzz2JxSKgADe With only 20 lbs to lose, you don't have to be quite so aggressive. Aiming for between 50g-100gs of carbs should be enough to help you shed those last few lbs, and is probably more…
  • Yea I'm a big breakfast sausage fan myself so I know how hard it can be to find something! Definitely don't waste them ;) I normally support buying things from small local stores as much as possible, but when it comes to coconut oil your best (i.e. cheapest) bet is probably to order online. Tropical Traditions is a popular…
  • Everyone has given you some good advice already, and I especially agree with what cbear has suggested which it seems you've got handled already. I just took a quick look through your diary and it looks pretty good, although I just thought I'd point out that you may want to try finding a different brand of breakfast…
  • I was just like that when I started to try drinking water regularly. If you just "suck it up" and stick with it, I bet you'll find that eventually (not over night, heck maybe not even the first few weeks) you enjoy water as is. Now if I even try Crystal light or any of those add to water sweeteners, I actually find it TOO…
  • I found for myself there were 1-2 months of experimenting to find the right combination of macros for me to get that full feeling. For me I find I have to get a lot more fat in to feel satisfied. I'd give what you're currently doing another week and then try adjusting your macros if you still don't find yourself feeling…
  • I'm pretty picky about what recipes I will try off of a blog as like someone mentioned, they are often recipes that have only been made once and perhaps fit that person's tastes, but not necessarily someone else. I do use theclothesmakethegirl.com/Well Fed and nomnompaleo and have never had something bad from there. My…
  • I wasn't trying to disagree with you, just trying to say it in a way that was perhaps more clear to the OP that it's about finding what works from you :D
  • Just want to point out that just because you get physically hungry for 3 meals a day, doesn't mean that everybody does. Different approaches work for different people, based on a number of variables including their work/life schedules, how much time they get to eat in one setting, what macros they're eating for, what their…
  • Perhaps look into some green/white/herbal teas? They tend to be mild enough in flavour that you can drink them without adding anything. Herbal teas come in a variety of fruity flavours that tend to be sweeter than just green/white. My favorite morning drink other than hot black coffee is Cinnamon Chai Rooibos tea, it's…
  • I took a look at the courses on the link you provided and think you could probably get some use out of the few courses on various databases and design. Analysts don't typically do programming, but require a background knowledge of how the programming side works. If you truly want to become a Systems Analyst you will…
  • I still have to agree with lour441. Like I said, I also have real world experience (and like you, I am always utilized for my computer skills, trouble shooting skills, and the fact that I pick things up fast and am able to self-learn) AND a degree in this field but it is still VERY hard to get good work without a degree,…
  • Awesome, I did not know that Thanks Tabbychiro!
  • ^^ This is also true. I have my degree in this field, and have been working in it for about 4 years, with 3+ years previous experience in technology support. I still find it hard to compete for jobs posted, as they usually require 5 years experience at least. And that 5 years experience is near impossible to get without a…
  • ^^This is true.
  • I am a Systems/Business/Data Analyst and think Computer Sciences, Information Systems or Information Technology will be the courses/programs you would want to take. While you can learn a lot of stuff online from free resources, unfortunately most jobs that are posted will not accept people without a Bachelor in one of…
  • Check out the documentary "Food Matters". There's a guy on there that talks a great deal about vitamins, and how high dosages are better, but people are scared of them because of the way the media portrays vitamin supplements (i.e. don't take too many vitamins...you might get HEALTHY and not need prescription drugs anymore…
  • As much as I like the Planetbox and lunchbots, I just don't think stainless steel lunch sets are very practical for me. My lunches are usually leftovers from the night before and there's usually at least one piece to be re-heated at work so stainless steel just won't work. I don't want to have to dirty a dish at work just…
  • Overestimating calorie burn & underestimating your calories from food? Do you wear an HRM or use MFP's guess-timates for calories burned? Do you weigh/portion your food and enter it as such? Edited to add: also notice that your Sodium numbers are super high most days, which can cause you to retain water. Try aiming for the…
  • Yes. When I was regularly tracking my weight I soon came to expect to see numbers about 5lbs heavier than my regular weight for that time of month. A day or two after it's over, I'm back to normal. Like Sabine said, there are many other threads on this if you want to do a search and read through some other stories.
  • I'm only just starting to dabble into IF myself, but I found these three links helpful: http://www.negharfonooni.com/2012/07/intermittent-fasting-why-and-how-food.html >One of my female lifting role models discusses her experiences with IF http://www.niashanks.com/2011/08/three-methods-of-intermittent-fasting/ >Nia Shanks,…
  • I agree with what Mike and the others have said above. Love the book, but it's not the end all be all. Do what works for you. I myself love black coffee so the BP coffee doesn't appeal to me. Focus on the quality of the food you are eating and then eat until you are full.
