I don't go to that extent, but my husband does find it charmingly weird that I pick out an item on the store shelves that's a few back so fewer people have touched it.

Same! I miss things from Oregon and Washington, but only because I'm currently in Michigan. My husband will feel the same about Michigan food when we leave. As far as wide availability, though, I miss the old glass-bottled Clearly Canadian. And I don't know if it's my usual grocery store or what, but I have a tough time…

I do honestly love lean meat, broccoli, and brown rice. Sounds like the start of a good stir fry to me, lol. That said, I love pasta too. I still eat it. Just in a smaller portion than I used to have. He can eat what you eat and you can eat what he eats, just at different portion sizes. And losing weight doesn't have to…

It's a process. We all had to learn how it works. Don't be mad at yourself :) Good luck and share your success stories!

Check this thread out http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1080242-a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants If you're not already, log your food into MFP. Be as accurate and honest as possible. To lose weight yes you need to eat less than the number that would keep you at your current weight (maintenance…

To get a better handle on things, I suggest you read through this: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1080242-a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants You'll want to continue focusing on strength training to drop body fat percentage, but you can work on that at maintenance calories since you're not really…

In the absence of a medical condition, meal timing and frequency is entirely personal preference. If eat most/all your calories in one meal and don't experience hunger/fatigue the rest of the day, then do what works for you.

I've been fat since I was a kid, but like some other people I always felt like "I'm not that big..." until I saw a picture or a mirror. The last few years it's really become obvious the limitations I have due to being fat and combined with Christmas pictures from last December driving the point home, I finally realized I…

As much as I'm on board with CICO in most cases, there is some evidence that Depo-Provera is associated with excess weight gain for about a quarter of users. So maybe the "it's the calorie deficit!" stuff isn't as helpful here as it usually is. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19622988 edit: word choice

The same bc can cause some women to lose and some women to gain. To be quite frank, it's just a lot of trial and error to find the right one for you. Have you had a full blood workup done (thyroid, blood sugar, etc.)?

No carb isn't realistic -- vegetables are carbs. I don't think anyone with an ounce of sense is going to tell you to cut vegetables out of your diet. Low carb is good for some people. Not a catchall solution, but certainly it works for some people, especially people who have certain medical issues (diabetes, PCOS, some…

Unless you have a medical condition, meal timing and the number of meals per day is entirely personal preference.

I've really enjoyed Mediterranean Mint and Salted Caramel. I was disappointed with Vanilla Bean. The flavor choices at my usual grocery store are pretty limited. Looking forward to the next time I have an excuse to go to the one further away with more variety :)

That's the spirit. Good luck and keep at it! :)

It's one day. Get back on track tomorrow. Don't punish yourself--everyone slips up once in a while. The difference is in not giving up when you falter!

Warm it up in a little butter and garlic. Don't keep it in long or it will go rubbery, because it's already cooked.

Calories burned from cardio depends on a number of factors including but not necessarily limited to sex, height, weight, length of time performed, intensity... If it's steady state cardio, the best bet is to wear a heart rate monitor with a chest strap. But you can find reasonable estimates by googling the exercise for a…

People fluctuate +/- 5lbs on any given day, roughly speaking. Track your weight over a longer period of time (weekly weigh-ins) and try not to focus too much on daily weight.
-
Well, first I'd ask your doc to explain their reasoning for such a low-cal diet plan and for how long you're supposed to follow it. But I'd also probably ask for a referral to a registered dietitian unless your doc is a weight loss or nutrition specialist.

I'm 5'4". My long-term goal is 140, which is near the top of the normal BMI range for my height. I'll re-evaluate when I'm closer to my goal, because I might want to go lower or I might just want to switch focus to body recomposition (lowering BF%).

We can't answer for him specifically because none of us know what's in his heart and mind. That said, just because a man finds chubby women generally attractive does not mean he will a) stop finding a specific woman attractive if her shape changes or b) find that type EXCLUSIVELY attractive in general unless he's a…

This exactly. I still enjoy almost all the same foods, but before it was just too frequently and in portions that were too large. I've only changed up a few things for health, not weight loss. Switching to pasta and rice with more fiber, lower sodium bacon and teriyaki sauce, etc.

True change does have to come from within oneself. I don't think anyone other than doctors and very close family should bring it up. I would be irritated with any of my friends if they felt like bringing up my weight and that's even after I started working to change it...

Peanut butter notoriously has a lot of calories for the portion size. Not that I don't love PB but maybe you weren't conscious of that? I agree with others that you almost certainly can eat more calories in a day and still lose weight, but you should pick a more sustainable weekly goal.
-
Budget for a reasonable portion size into your daily calories/macros. There is no reason to cut out foods you love. Just learn to be satisfied with smaller amounts of it.

Yep that is my only caveat with frozen veg--check the labels to see if it's just veg or if they've added things (salt, etc). Otherwise I think they're great especially because most of the time I can't get to my fresh veg before it spoils :)
