I try to record everything I eat or drink, although very occasionally I will skip it if it's just one sip/bite (trying something my husband has for example). I'm mainly concerned with calories, but I'm also keeping an eye on my macros and sodium intake, and more data is better imo. edit: also, part of the reason I record…

Aside from water there's nothing I consume absolutely every day, but I eat Greek yogurt and chocolate nearly every day.

I think the letters at the start of each line indicate breakfast, snack, dinner, tea, snack. OP, when did you join the gym? If it was just recently (like in the last week or so) your muscles are probably retaining glycogen stores to repair themselves due to increased/new activity. Also weight can vary quite a bit (several…

Your title is sort of confusing. You've haven't plateaued for 3 years; you've lost 52 lb in 3 years. It sounds like you're just not satisfied with your progress in the last month or so. But you are making progress. I suggest adding strength/resistance training and looking more at losing body fat percentage than focusing on…

I'm 5'4". I have a lot to lose so my current long-term goal is 145, which puts me at the high end of normal BMI. When I eventually get there, I will probably re-evaluate. I also have a larger frame (shoulders and ribcage set quite wide for example); I would take your frame into consideration when thinking about your goals.…

A heart rate monitor (HRM) is the best way to estimate your own personal burn. If that's not feasible for you right now (due to cost or inability to wear it during the activity) you can look for others who've tried estimating it before. I don't know anything about Kendo, but I found this:…

What did you set as your goal loss per week in MFP? You don't have much to lose so lower it to 1/2 lb a week and MFP will automatically adjust your daily calorie goal. Try that for a while and see if you don't have better luck.

Weight loss doesn't require exercise, only a calorie deficit. So the effort you are making already is more than enough to lose weight. As for healthy I don't know because it's a subjective term. Are your blood panels fine when you go to the doctor? Can you walk without getting winded? It sounds like you're mostly doing…

Get a steak and veggies and/or salad. Check the website for nutritional info, but they don't all provide it. Ask for dressings/sauces on the side and eat smaller portions (be prepared to ask for a doggy bag). You should be fine. And if you're over one day it's not really that bad.

Congratulations! Good work!

Too little for what? What are your goals?

Eating the same thing every day isn't the issue, but your diet is pretty nutritionally deficient and I wouldn't recommend eating that way for very long. On the other hand, you're 18 and you can abuse your body right now and still bounce back. But you should still aim to eat more fruits, vegetables, and lean protein. Try…

I try to log everything unless it's literally just one bite/nibble/sip and I haven't been having those little one-bites all day (it adds up!).

A lot of people who try all kinds of weight loss methods fail. For example, people can calorie count AND try eliminate favorite/comfort foods. That fails frequently, and it isn't because of counting calories.

I eat a brand called Aunt Millie's, it has a 35 cal whole wheat bread. Per slice it is 10g carb, 4g fiber, 1g sugar, 3g protein, 1g fat, 90mg sodium. Ingredients aren't too bad either for a commercial bread. I think it tastes pretty good and I can still have sandwiches and toast :)

This :) Other people said some important stuff like "detox" not being a real thing you need to do unless you have a medical condition that impairs your organ function. Think about your cals not only as a daily measurement, but weekly, and even monthly. Eat in reasonable portions tomorrow and move on.

Doing great, keep it up!!

Cardio's not necessary to maintain weight (or lose it) but it's important for heart and lung health. Even just some walking is fine. Which is probably why quite a few lifters don't bother. They're probably walking around and getting cardio in incidentally that they don't have to make a workout of it.

Here is another US code if anyone would like to try it, 1st & 5th boxes free: http://www.graze.com/us/p/FW3NYPYNT

I switched to brown rice to get more fiber, but as long as you're minding the calories in the rice it doesn't matter white/brown/other varieties. Eat what you like.

Thank you for sharing. Your story is really inspirational, not only because you lost weight but because of the mental journey you made to get there.

A lot of people go by weekly net cal averages. I try to stay in my daily but if I go over then I can see by my weekly that I'm still doing fine and don't worry about it.

Strictly for weight, yes. For health reasons, I wouldn't recommend it. Aiming for your macro balance is a decent starting point.

You can lose weight eating the same things you've always eaten. You just need to eat at a calorie deficit. That said, for health reasons (other than weight loss) I would encourage you to expand your food horizons. There are a lot of ways to prepare all the many different vegetables. You can probably find a way to like or…

I tend to vary my meals quite a bit, but I like to have Greek yogurt and granola (the amounts I eat it ends up being 290 cal), but I also like instant oatmeal made with skim milk. Not as nutritious as homemade, but I usually need breakfast to be something very, very quick.
-
I still drink soda, but I've tried to limit it to about 12 oz a day. I find water easier to drink with a little flavoring. Just a lemon wedge or juice helps. I've also started drinking more unsweetened iced tea and more coffee (regular coffee, 1 cream no sugar).

Skimmed article in original post. Saw a whole lot of logical fallacies. Closed tab. Some people need to pay closer attention to macros than others... medical conditions, specific training regimens, etc. For MANY people, though, cal in cal out just works as long as they're honest with themselves about how much they're…

Congrats on getting started, feel free to add me if you like!

I agree, I got my favorite suit ever from here. It is a two piece--swim shorts and swim tank--which lets you buy a one piece kind of style but in two different sizes if you need to.

5lb could be water weight fluctuation especially because so far it seems like you eat a lot of sodium. That said you are a 23 year old male at 5'8" and 447 lbs. A quick calculation at http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ says you could be eating 3400 cal a day and losing weight at a 20% calorie reduction rate.…
