Thank you very much. Would you say 1 day of recovery per week is enough for a beginner? I heard it's likely that one would need more recovery time the more advanced that one gets, because the training gets more intense. Thus a beginner shouldn't need that much recovery time, right?

Thank you so much. I definitely will do a smaller surplus. I have a question tho, is it true that as a newbie I can gain muscle while eating at maintenance or even a deficit? If it is true, how substantial would these be?

Thanks for all the helpful comments. Can anyone tell me what's the benefit of doing the Hypertrophy Specific Workout versus the Starting Strength one?

Thanks! I'll check it out in a few. Would you say it's necessary to enlist a personal trainer? No, I actually have no idea about what foods to eat (such as what my macro percentages should be, and so on). I should be eating at a 500 calorie surplus to gain 1 pound per week, right? Or is that too much? What are the…

Thank you for the quick reply. I'm prepared to be patient, I just thought that with "newbie gains" the process could be expedited, but if not, it's not a problem. When you say a couple days, do you think 3 days upper body, 3 days lower would be too much? I ask because I've noticed most people say they only go to the gym…

Thank you everyone for your comments and advice. I guess the answer seems to be to just keep on losing weight while working them out at the same time.

Yes, it takes up less space but it's not like it would replace the fat, would it? Wouldn't it be the fat PLUS the muscle?
-
Getting down to below 15% body fat would require losing more fat. Wouldn't this make the loose skin problem even worse? Also, how do you get below 15% body fat without looking really "buff" like a bodybuilder?

I lost about 66 pounds. No, I don't lift weights, but I plan to start soon hopefully. The loose skin is barely noticeable. Like, if I stand up, you don't notice it at all. The loose skin on the inner thighs for example is only visible if I for example, lie flat on my back and raise my leg in the air. Same thing for the…

Surely surgery can't be the only solution? There have been cases where people's skin has "bounced back" after 1-2 years, no? And also, don't you have to have a certain amount of loose skin for surgery? I think I read somewhere that they won't operate on you if it's just a small amount.

I fully intend to do some heavy lifting. The problem is, I won't be able to start for about another month, so since you apparently can't gain muscle and lose fat at the same time and have to take it in bulk/cut stages, I was planning to just cut until I hit goal weight, then start bulking. Since I won't have access to a…

Hey! Firstly, I'd just like to say congrats on the transformation, it is simply amazing. I have three questions: 1) I noticed that many times in this thread you wish that you had started weightlifting from the beginning, but I was wondering...Why? What difference do you believe it would have made if you started from the…

Thanks for the quick responses. So would body weight exercises be enough while dieting to reduce the degree of muscle atrophy, or would "heavy duty" lifting be required?
-
Added information: I eat 1600 calories a day and do not have an exercise routine.
-
What is RM, and not many calories are burned in weight-lifting (thus I don't need to eat them back), right?
-
What about all of that minus the gym performance (due to lack of time)? Would that still be safe/reasonable?
-
I just set that at a goal because it was the lower end of the health spectrum for someone my height. There's no major reason as to why I set that number specifically. What do you propose as a reasonable goal weight?
-
My goal weight is around 130 lbs, which would mean I have 100 pounds to lose. Or when you say I don't have that much to lose, are you referring until I reach the upper boundary of the healthy weight spectrum?
-
I don't go to the gym, as a typical day is pretty much from 7:00 am-7 pm so I have no time. Hence, my lifestyle right now could be described as sedentary I believe. Do you think this method of TDEE -20% would still work without the gym routine. On a side note, I was hopefully planning to start Focus T25 soon, if that could…

My diary isn't incomplete. That's literally all I've eaten, usually 2 meals per day.

Sorry, I should have clarified. By "everywhere I go" I meant looking up the nutrition plans to go along with Insanity/T25 and just looking at what other people did in their success stories but I will try to stick to the detailed plan MFP gave me. Regarding BusyRaeNOTBus, these pictures don't really portray what I'm talking…

Thank you very much for the quick replies. One more thing, I've read the guides and they say not to go below BMR. According to the BMR calculator here my BMR would be approximately 2100, however pretty much everywhere I go I see suggestions for only consuming 1600 calories/day. Would it be safe to eat at 1600/day and not…
