1200 is too low to maintain on. I had anorexia off and on between 2005 and 2010 and when I was in outpatient back in 2006 I was told I was going to maintain on 1300-1400 calories if I didn't exercise. I weighed 86 lbs and I am 5'3.5" and I was very very underweight. So I had to eat at 2000 or slightly above to even gain…

YES. Crazy cat lady here. I have only owned cats and I loved each one of them dearly. I am currently living in an apartment that does not allow pets period, so no little fur monsters for me at the moment. But when I move, I will adopt a little one.

When you eat at a calorie surplus ( meaning you eat more than you burn ) on a continual basis then any of the macronutrients - carb, protein, and fat-- can be converted into adipose tissue.

There isn't anything wrong with what you do. When I was going to the gym a lot ( now I'm running outside more for a half marathon ) I noticed people who would go with friends didn't work out to their full potential and spent more time socializing and not really doing much. I think it can be more of a distraction. As far as…

If your TDEE is around 2500, then I'd assume you would feel hungry if you didn't get at least 2000 calories. If you feel good at 2000 calories, then I'd see how well you lose weight and monitor, and keep on doing that. No need to go hungry.

At first, I needed to gain weight because I was too skinny. This was in 2010. I was about 91 lbs and at a point where I needed to gain weight for health. At first the weight gain was on purpose. It was on purpose until I hit 110 lbs, where I continued counting calories and I maintained weight for a year. In 2011 I met my…

Running is fun. Not everyone agrees with that statement but to each his own. I could never get my sister to run that's for sure. I find that running is easy some days and difficult on others. There was a day where I struggled to run 7 miles, but easily ran 11.5 another day. It depends on a lot of factors, like how much/how…

My boyfriend has been bugging me to start strength training lately. He thinks I'm beginning to look wimpy and "too skinny." But at least he is wanting me to do something, other than gain weight in fat right? I might start for my running. I hate when people make judgments like that. I think everyone should follow their own…

I don't think she is 119 lbs if she is really 5'8". More like 130-140 lbs, but she looks really good!! She looks like she is at a good weight for her height.

Depends on if you are underweight or not. If you're already 5 lbs underweight and want to lose another 5-10 more, then that might be ridiculous. But if you're within your normal range for your height and want to lose 5 to 10 lbs then there is nothing wrong with that as long as you go about it healthfully. Others have…

Pretty cool! Everyone has different goals! I'm a distance runner and I burn quite a bit of calories; I'm also trying to maintain and I need 2000 calories and sometimes more to maintain. You look great by the way!

Relationships may not make you fat, but they do influence your eating habits. When I first met my boyfriend in 2011, I was around 115 lbs, more or less. Not sure exactly what I weighed, but around there. I am 5'3.5". Before I met him, I only ate out once in a blue moon! I also exercised on a regular basis.... I definitely…

I agree. I'm trying to maintain. It is very tricky, because my activity levels are different from day to day. I consider myself active most days, but there is about 1-2 days a week where I do not exercise. I want to be able to eat the same amount each day, so finding that number is tricky. I've been slowly losing since i…

What the women are probably doing are setting their first goal. Once they get to 175 lbs, for example, they might set another goal of like 140 lbs. Once they reach that, they may stop if they are happy with that weight or make another goal, like 120 or 130 lbs. That is what I think most people are doing... taking baby…

You look cute in all 3 pictures, but I do think you look a little too thin in your last picture. I personally think you look best in the second picture at 125 lbs and that is a great slim weight for your height. I am a couple inches shorter than you and I weigh 10 lbs more and people think I'm too thin even. Be careful and…

25. Half way through... :)

The whole snap chat thing is really weird :/ I'd also be worried about your sister. I don't know why she is talking to him in the first place. When I was 18 I would have never wanted anything to do with a 30 year old man especially if he was with a relative of mine.

I had strawberry ice cream. It was good. I ate it because I wanted to lol.

Nice ! What a wonderful accomplishment!! :) You will be able to wear them out of the house soon. I think they look good on you!

5'3.5' and petite. I am 106 lbs!! Not getting smaller.. been working on maintaining!
-
I am 5'3.5". I'm in between 5'3" and 5'4". I am at a weight that I like ....106.5 lbs... and I'm hoping to maintain between 105-110 lbs ( you know how our weights fluctuate. ) I do not want to get smaller than I am, because then I will look too thin. I have a small frame, so I do not look too thin, at least in my opinion.…

Personally, I have never had any problems losing weight on just a calorie deficit. Even on small deficits I've been able to lose. I think if you are weighing in everyday, its hard to see the trend of weight loss unless you're one of those people that charts your daily weight on a spreadsheet and then you see the general…

I am 5'3.5" and 106 lbs. Today I'm wearing a shirt in a size small ( Arizona brand from JCP ) and jeans from Aeropostale in 0. Jeans obviously are never made the same, so we all do fluctuate in sizes. I can wear anywhere between a 00-2 depending on the brand, cut and style. There are some 00's I can fit in. There are some…

Do you have it on all day? If so then that is your total daily expenditure. And that is what you should base your deficit off of, whether its 250 calories off that or 500 calories off, depending on how fast you want to lose. I would do that first and see how it goes. Because on here it might add the calories in and then it…

I eat what I want in moderation. You can also have treats every once in a while too and an occasional cheat day ( but not too many ). Maybe you aren't allowing yourself enough calories? Sometimes the slower the weight loss, the better. But that is up to you. I lost weight eating what I want. I eat muffins everyday, but I…

When I was losing I weighed in 1 to 2 times a week. Over time my weigh ins are less frequent. I went from 1-2 times a week to 1 time a week to 1 time every two weeks. Now I'm weighing in 1-2 times a month. At what I'm at now ( maintaining or on a small deficit ) I can't see what's going on when I weigh myself more than 2…

This site is only for adults. I know teenagers come on here, though. Obviously I don't think teens, especially at 14, should be dieting unless they absolutely have to. I did diet myself at a young age ( 16 ) and became calorie obsessed, much like what you fear, and not in a good way. I became anorexic. I'm not saying that…

Congrats! A 10K is nothing to sneeze at, but it's also not a hard run once you've been doing it for a little while ( like in your case ). I'm running at the 10K and higher. Yesterday I did 7.3 miles and I've been running for about five weeks now. However, the first day I went out running in early April I did the 5K my…

Have you considered you might not be eating enough for your activity level? 1200 calories might be too low and may be contributing to your binge ( you binged because you are feeling deprived ). Depending on your activity level, 1500-1600 may be a better level for you. If it keeps you from urging to binge, then it will be…

Yes, it does work! However, I didn't start doing the 1/2 lb per week until I got closer to my goal weight. I've been losing at 1/2 lb per week on roughly 1600-1700 calories per day, so I'm finally going to increase to 1900 for my maintenance. But I was at 1-1.5 lbs a week in the beginning. Just keep in mind when you do the…
