  • After my husband spent 29 days in the hospital with complications from quadruple bypass surgery (also found out he had type 2 diabetes) we met with a nutritionist. One thing she told us really stuck in my mind, "If you can buy it from your car window, consider it poison."
  • I have limited counterspace so I prefer hand blenders. I have had an Oster at home for years. I don't remember the cost. I bought a Hamilton Beach one today for my lake house and paid 19.98 plus tax. Both Oster and the Hamilton ones come with a whip attachment as well as the blender. I prefer a hand blender. To me it is…
  • I agree with all the posts about using PB2 as a flavoring. I am not really crazy about it just mixed with water. I have just mixed the powder directly into a fruit spread and it is good.

  • That is going to save me when I go up there Valentine's Day weekend!
  • You can get sparkling water with no sodium. Can't think of the brands, just check the labels. Your family will get used to it. Everyone will be healthier. They can salt after cooking is done. And yes, processed foods are full of sodium, as well as canned.
  • I promise you that once you get over the hump, you will not miss the salt. It amazes me how much sodium is already in the food we eat, even unprocessed foods. Once you get used to cutting sodium, processed foods and foods eaten out will taste too salty. You can do this! Oh and pepper, garlic, Italian herbs (I used the…
  • I totally agree. I keep a pair of jeans in the next size down and try them on weekly. When I can wear them I weigh. When I get the weight off I promise myself that I will put on my favorite pair of jeans at least once a week and if I can't wear them and will get back in them immediately and not wear bigger or stretchy…
  • Just made this. Very easy. According to MFP recipe calculator has 99 Calories a serving. 99 c, 13 carbs, 220 sodium, 8 fat, 5 protein Makes about 6 cups. 5 cups Kitchen Basics sodium free Chicken Stock 1 medium butternut (winter) squash peeled, seeded and cubed (for me this was about 5 cups) 1 medium sweet potato peeled…
  • No, it doesn't. However, MFP is the first program I have done without a "gimmick" so I am finding my way. Unfortunately, I am not new to weight loss, so I do know what will work for me. What works for one doesn't always work for everybody. I am not going to gorge and make myself uncomfortable if I don't want to eat. I am…
  • This is one of the things I hate about message boards, the rudeness. That being off my chest...I am having a hard time consuming the extra calories as I increase my activity level. I was very sedentary for the past 2 years. When I eat healthy and write down everything that I consume, I don't find it that difficult to stay…
  • I was on a 3 month plateau once after losing 60#s. I ate a pint of Ben and Jerry's Chubby Hubby one day and coincidence or not it jump started me. Sadly, a family crisis triggered a 2.5 year eating binge and I gained all the weight back. The good thing is that I know I can do this.
  • That is impressive!
  • Good for you! I have gone from 1800 steps Monday to just under 9000 yesterday. I have also outlawed junk food.
