  • Yesterday went well. LNS 0, Me 1. What helps -- Structure a substantial evening snack into my food plan -- eat it around the time the munchies usually start prowling. Or, have an afternoon snack and then a later dinner. If I eat dinner at 7pm instead of 5, I don't graze later. By "snack" I'm not talking about 6 almonds or…
  • Well, it hasn't been late night, but it's been eating when not hungry, eating triggering more eating. 2/7/13 -- LNS 1 Me 0 2/8/13 -- LNS 1 Me 0 Feb. tally -- Me 6 LNS 2
  • Yup, you described it exactly. I could have written it myself. Maybe we should get on here when we start wanting something and examine what is going on. What happened right before we started eating? Or what thoughts were in our minds right before we started wanting something? Example -- last night I tried to call my…
  • There's a group here devoted to this very problem. Put Late Night Snacking or LNS in the search bar. We all keep score on ourselves.
  • Thank you for the welcomes! I just went back through earlier posts and found them. It's nice to be welcomed! I've been eating a planned snack at 8pm, whether I've "earned" it through exercise or not. It's working. 2/6/13 Me 5 LNS 0
  • 2/2/13 My commitment - 1 LNS - 0 2/3/13 My commitment - ? LNS - ? It wasn't late night, it was early afternoon after missing lunch? 2/4/13 My commitment - 1 LNS - 0 (Planned snack, ate that, no binge!!)
  • You've sure reminded me what I'm saying when I pray "Give us this day our daily bread.... for Thine is the kingdom, and the power (victory over weight and food are HIs, not mine) and the glory (which you have publicly given Him.) Thank you for posting your testimony. Praise the Lord!
  • Don't forget to weigh the cup holding the food on the scale, and subtract from the total. You're not going to eat the cup.
  • Ahhh, made it through last night. Now I can score it. 2/1/13 My commitment - 1 LNS - 0
  • I just found this group. LNS is my undoing. The description of eating dinner and then just keeping on going until bed.... yup. Exactly. In addition, I have trouble sleeping, whether or not I've been grazing, don't think it's related, but often I'll just have to give up and get out of bed due to tossing, turning, restless…
  • [I'm sorry, but no one wants to eat dry beans and lentils everyday!] I do! I cook up a pot of dried beans (sometimes they're lentils) every few days and eat them for lunch nearly every single day, along with collard or turnip greens (which I buy canned.) I call it "beans n greens," add a little olive oil, cider vinegar,…
  • Thanks, folks. I took a zero day yesterday. Today running and biking don't hurt (4-mile easy run, 14-mile easy bike) and I was OK afterwards as well, but my leg is stiff all the way down the back after I've been sitting. I'm stretching the calf, hamstring, and butt muscles. Thankfully I don't need to be able to sit, I need…
  • P.S. It sure doesn't take much food to add up to 1200 calories. Three very conservative meals and you're there. Breakfast 300, lunch 400, dinner 500, but if you want snacks you have to take the calories away from the meals. 1200 calories is really not very much food, especially when we have become used to overeating, maybe…
  • I think MFP already factors in a safe deficit, with your BMR + calorie needs for basic activities of living (whether you're sedentary, lightly active, moderately active, whatever you filled out when figuring your calorie needs), then gives you a calorie goal enough below that to give you a loss of about half a pound a…
  • Me (1) Binge (1) Yay! Score's tied now! I had an unplanned snack last night and realized I was in danger, thought of this group and Me vs. The Binge and...... I stopped!!
  • Yup, late night for me, too. Last night it was insomnia.... got out of bed to read, decided to have a little snack, and...... But with all these friends supporting each other, it's gotta get better. We can help each other make it go away.
  • I sure wish that last night I'd gotten on MFP and searched for a "Binge" topic/group instead of getting drowned in a 1000+ calorie food fest. But I didn't, and I ate the junk, and this morning I updated my food log to include it, and now I'm moving on. I'm starting my score yesterday, though, so that I remember I have this…
  • Fantastic! Those are my numbers, too, except I'm at the "before" right now. You're my hero
  • I live in the panhandle of western Maryland, in the Allegheny Mountains (part of the Appalachians.) I'm just learning how to reply/quote on a forum
  • The western panhandle of Maryland. Actually black bears are pretty harmless, but running right at you a dog-leash length away is a bit much....
  • Yes, twisting an ankle rates higher for me than being chased by a bear. My dog and my bear spray can help deter marauders of whatever species, but they can't help me if I roll my ankle. NOTE -- I switched to minimalist shoes (Saucony Kinvara), very low to the ground, and have not twisted an ankle in 2 years.
  • I got charged by a black bear. I had my dog on leash, and she was ready to take him out. He may have been after my dog. At any rate, I hollered "NO!!!" at both of them, and about 6 feet away the bear peeled off and ran into the woods. That was about a mile into a planned 6-miler, which my dog and I then resumed and…
