Its difficult to pinpoint the reason without seeing your diary or how much you actually consume and exercise. I would advise weighing all of your food, etc. But if you gained 8 lbs in one week (28,000 calories over maintenance) then it is more than likely water retention/cortisol. Wait another week and see what happens

Muscle and fat weigh the same and you aren't gaining muscle. You could be having higher cortisone levels or it could be close to your time of the month. Or more likely, those cheat suppers are killing you.

She does not need to eat more because she is not in a deficit. She isn't eating less than 1000 calories a day and it is painfully obvious. This thread is full of absolutely horrendous information. 7 more lbs to lose and I graduate from this forum. Its pretty much the slums of MFP

I highly doubt you are building muscle unless you are trying to bulk by accident. If you are in a deficit you will barely be gaining any muscle, especially if you are a female. Unfortunately, you aren't losing weight because you are not in a calorie deficit. Also you should be eating much more than 1200 calories. Calculate…

The quality of food has NOTHING to do with losing weight. You can lose weight on McDonalds as long as you hit your caloric goal.

There is plenty of science introduced on adaptive thermogenesis in this forum on a daily basis. The most recent being from Vismus or however you spell his name. Unless you quoted the wrong person of course...
