It is not recommended that anyone go below 1200 calories per day. Going below that number can cause serious health problems.

If true, I will never understand why people come here to do that. What can they possibly get out of it? Sometimes the internet makes me sad.

What you are doing to your body is very dangerous. It can lead to extreme stress on your heart and result in permanent damage or even cardiac arrest. It will also slow your metabolism, which can hamper future weight loss attempts. Why do you want to do this to your body?

I think we have all been on the weight loss rollercoaster, so stop beating yourself up about it! I know the feeling of disgust and disappointment....but you have a choice: you can wallow in it and give up, or you can decide here and now that you are going to take steps to get healthy again. Motivation can be gained for…

In all of my diet attempts, I usually see my biggest weight loss in the first two weeks. Then it slows to about two per week, then to one pound per week. Some weeks are zero. I have finally developed the mindset that as long as the scale is not moving UP, I am as happy as I can be!!!

Do you know how many calories you are eating each day? That is the key to weight loss. Eating at a calorie deficit. Also, 6lbs may not be as fast as you want, but it IS progress!! Don't give up! Think of it this way, for most people, the slower approach to weight loss takes longer, but the effects usually last longer.…

First of all, you are not the person you were for the last 20 years....you are making a positive change in how you handle food/drink. Remind yourself of that from time to time, especially when the beer is calling or your friends are saying "c'mon, just one more!!" Second, as was said above, make a plan (save up calories),…

If I am at the end of my day, craving something sweet, and I am all out of calories, I have found that some herbal tea, sweetened with Stevia helps fight off the craving. But keep in mind that if you are fighting physical hunger at night, you need to eat more. From your original post, it didn't look like you filled your…

That's what I do! It is one of my favorite snacks....an apple with about 12 almonds. I will also use greek yogurt or lowfat cheese to pair with fruit/veggies. Always some protein with each meal or snack. For me, it helps prevent a sugar spike that is followed by energy reduction and hunger.

What worked for me was this, as recommended by my GI doctor: For 5 days I ate as much as I wanted of lean meats, fish, eggs, and low-starch vegetables (no corn, no potatoes). I also included 2 3/4 cup servings of greek yogurt, sweetened with stevia, and 2 servings of either strawberries, grapes or apples. No bread, no…

She is not going to change. This is who she is. You may HAVE to love her, but quit feeling guilty for not liking her. I've been there, I know. I would do anything for my sister if she needed me.....but it has taken years for me to learn how to be around her without feeling like the "failure" she would paint me as. And,…
