Thank you everyone :)

Hey, when you have a moment, I think it would be a good idea to read the stories on this website, which shows quite clearly that (a) women can be harrassed, assaulted or raped in any clothing and (b) they should never take the blame for any sexual harrassment, assault or rape under any circumstances - no means no.…

Thank you so much Shmophie! I should listen to you, take stock, and instead of pointing out all the bad bits and saying "this needs work" I should give myself 5 mins to be happy about how far I've come :)

You did more than many people by getting through 10 mins of the DVD. You'll retry tomorrow (you may be a little sore tomorrow, if so consider the day after) and you can only do better. Eventually you'll be doing the entire workout without stopping. If you do give up tomorrow... instead, give yourself 5 mins to cool down…

That's lovely - I am amazed if people can take inspiration from my humble weight loss journey! It's great you've started yours - you'll reap the rewards soon.

I agree with esrun - educate the boy. He shouldn't grow up to think that's OK!

It's great reading all of these - such a variety of professions! I'm a full-time student at university but I also write iPhone/iPad apps on the side and sell them. I'd say the thing I like most about it is the lack of time constraints - no extra deadlines - but also my interest is moving away from them but I still need to…

Bear in mind your body fat %age calculation may have a large error associated with it. Also perhaps one of your calculations is off. I calculate that you need to get down to 165 to be at 23% fat. = (127 / (1 - 0.23)). For 5"4 it still sounds high, unless you're muscular and large-framed. I'm 5"4.5 and currently look podgy…

There are differences in pronunciation which can throw you off guard. Simultaneous (long i (US) versus short i (UK)) Missile (second i is short (US) versus long (UK)) - also fragile, sterile etc. Advertisement (ad-ver-tyz-ment (US) versus ad-vur-tiss-ment (UK))

My TOM comes every 6 weeks. I lose ridiculous amounts of weight for 2 weeks, and then go on a long, drawn-out plateau for 4 weeks. I'm getting used to the stopping-and-starting, and don't really do anything to shake things up anymore... just wait for my TOM to come. I wish my TOM came every 4 weeks so I'd lose more weight!

Hahaha, you've got a significant proportion of the world now tilting their heads in front of their computers to see what you look like vertical! Looking good - I would love to be where you are now (although I weigh less, you must be taller so you look healthier). I'm amazed you have 50 lbs left on you (although to be fair…

Enjoy the cookie! Photobucket photos don't display if your album title has a space in it. It's great you can make a cookie and only have one (or two) without going overboard. Yay! :)

It sounds like her dad is more capable of giving her a complex than you are. You sound like you're doing fine - I would have appreciated it if my mum had brought me up to enjoy and savour exercise.

Changing activity level is just a convenient way of not logging routine exercise. You have two choices: 1. Log as sedentary, and count everything you do which is not sedentary (I do this). 2. Log as (lightly) active, and don't count your 2 mile walks in exercise. Whatever you do, don't log as lightly active and then count…

I'm so sorry to hear about your injury! I haven't been through it myself (but given that I run quite a lot, some sort of injury is likely) but I do believe that you'll pull through. Your fear of giving up is actually a good sign. Remember that losing weight is 80% food and 20% exercise. So, maybe you've lost that 20%...…

The key is to lose weight. The thighs will reduce in size as you do this. Unfortunately it's not possible to spot-reduce fat in certain areas, although you can tone the muscles underneath the fat. Just keep making sure calories in < calories out (sensibly) and they will eventually go. Think about it: overweight runners…

I don't know about sexy (am asexual), but I'm sure someone who is confident with editing a Windows registry entry for you without destroying the computer deserves some romantic credit! :P (unfortunately I use a mac.) Using the DOS prompt with calm determination and speed, then shelling into a Linux computer and mastering…

Use [ img ] tags, without the extra spaces. e.g. [ img ]www.url.com/image.jpg[ /img ] Take out the spaces around the 'img', I put those in so they don't trigger an attempted image.

Thanks for sharing. It's great to see people's lives being turned round and their bodies brought into the 'healthy' category, from above or below. P.S. I do think I'm addicted to caffeine, yes  well, recently I've been making an effort to cut down...

This is good advice. I started like you, just running as much as possible (10 minutes and I maxed out). Went onto the C25K plan for a while (I started on week 4 because I was already running a fair distance without help). Carried through until week 7, then deviated from the plan. However, those three weeks were really…

Live and learn. However, the word 'cheat' makes it sound like you're playing a game you're unwilling to play, and are subverting it. However, you're only 'cheating' yourself. All your food choices are your own decisions. You make them for a reason, even if they're not good reasons - but using the 'cheat' terminology…

Eating won't break the cycle. Any improvement in your mood from eating will be short lived. I hope you manage to refrain and find a new coping mechanism. :flowerforyou:

I wait until my heart rate goes under 65% of max, but then I deduct the calories that I would have burned if I hadn't exercised, which (for me) is about the number of minutes * 1.3.

Hi, that happened to me one day when I played with the settings on my iPhone - little did I know that it was syncing something I didn't ask for to the server, suddenly I had an extra 50 calories a day... if you have the app, this may have happened.

Is that really the same person!? such a difference, that's a LOT of change in 18 lbs! :)

I was shocked when I scrolled down to your current pictures! You're tiny now! I'm so impressed.

One of my favourite NSVs has happened twice now: when my various doctors tell ME I've lost weight rather than the other way round. And when my friends can't think why my eyes have grown (because there's less face surrounding them!). Being able to enclose my wrist with my opposite hand and meet the fingers on the other side…

Your eyes look SO much larger (a good thing)! When I lost weight my friend asked me if my eyes had grown  so have yours!
