Oh, I am so down for this. Team Rick, here I come.

I don't completely deny myself "bad" foods, I simply work them off in the gym later that night. I still eat far less of them than I used to, but an occasional hot dog or Jimmy John's sandwich finds its way into my diet. Having small occasional treats generally prevents me from craving them later. I've gone cold turkey on…

Sure, I'll add you. You're actually in almost the exact same situation as my wife; she's about your same weight and trying to lose almost the same amount. Oh, and to top it off you're also in Washington. We live down in Vancouver.

I know it's not terribly uncommon for people to measure their calories on a weekly basis rather than a daily one. If that was the case, then working out 2 hours on Thursday and not at all on Friday would look the same in your weekly report as 1 hour on Thursday and 1 hour on Friday.

It's usually a sudden craving for something I haven't had in a long time. It'll strike out of nowhere, too. Most of the time I can shrug it off, but every once in a while, I get one so strong that I won't be able to concentrate or sleep until I satisfy the craving somehow. It may not be exactly what I wanted, but I'll find…

I do this same thing, especially if I'm eating something that I know isn't terribly good for me (I had a hot dog from the Costco deli today; for shame, Chris!). Before I even order it, I'll figure out the calories involved. Don't get me wrong, I'm still probably going to eat and enjoy it, but I'm going to burn off more…

Just do like I did and move 2,100 miles away on short notice. That'll teach 'em. In all seriousness, I don't even mention my diet or exercise regimens to family members who either won't care or will be judgmental about it. It's hard with family because you can't exactly pick them, unlike friends. I can tell you right now,…

I actually do most of my gym time in the evenings, when I used to start getting the munchies. I'll hit the gym at 7-8 PM, work my *kitten* off for an hour, and by the time I come back, if I want food at all, I want something good and filling rather than junk. I've never come back from the gym and thought, "Damn, I want a…

Elliptical until I collapse, or 60 minutes. Whichever comes first. I'll probably go back later in the evening (by which I mean, midnight-ish) and do a few miles on the treadmill as well.

I'm in a slightly similar position; I've been doing a ton of cardio lately, but I'm also overcoming a knee injury so any extended running (basically more than about a full minute at a time) is completely out of the question. I love the elliptical machine, there's no real impact so I can do it forever without hurting my…

Welcome to the community! Coincidentally, being unemployed was what made it harder for me to control my weight; I suddenly found myself with hours of free time, with free access to the refrigerator. I realized one day I was starting to eat not because I was hungry, but because food was tasty and only 20 feet away from me.…
