  • I am another vote for lessons. Most pools have adult lessons in different levels - from beginners to those working on skills and form. Also most areas have a Masters Swim club or team. I am joining mine tonight.
  • I needed to know that I can make adjustments to my recipes, even if it is just on the app. But why oh why can I not do that on the computer, I hate using my phone, I also recently found the multi-add on my phone and that option is not on my computer either. Who to we talk to get that changed!! For those saying to weigh the…
  • Take photos and body measurements, They will also show you your success,
  • You did not gain 5llbs of fat. Your weight can fluctuate up to 10lbs in a day or month. You could have a temporary weight gain for many reasons including hormones, sodium, water weight, etc. Focus on trends, if you are gaining in a few weeks, then you need reevaluate, weigh yourself at the same time, place every week. You…
  • I am a haphazard logger, this does not mean I am not motivated or committed. I use the calorie counter as a guide and its working for me. I am eating less, losing weight and making the effort of being more active. I have a friend who when she wants to lose weight she just averages out her calories mentally for the day and…
  • Sure, if you are walking and hiking, swimming, kayaking that is exercise, But you can also take it as a bonus and not log it as well. ( I added the swimming and kayaking because in my area there are a lot of geocaches that are on or in (scuba diving) the water. Or on islands that can only be access by water, probably also…
  • Definitely take some courses, most pools have adult classes in different levels or you can join a Masters Swim and get coaching weekly. Take a course or a few lessons will help dramatically with form, and form is important for swimming. Also makes it a lot easier and there will less effort needed to move which means you…
  • For 1 week I wouldn't worry about it. At the most you could gain 1 lb of fat over the week. Make mostly sensible choices and enjoy the drinks and ice cream. I went to an all inclusive a month ago, I ate and drank what I wanted, and I didn't gain anything. Keep in mind you may have a temporary gain when you come back, so…
  • Here is a link someone shared on facebook, and I plan on trying it. http://whoneedsacape.com/2012/11/crockpot-freezer-cooking/ I know in the GTA there are a couple companies that has a kitchen where you go to meal prep, they have a variety of meals, and ingredients that you put together and take home with the recipe. I…
  • Something else to try is Pilates, I did a series of classes last year that combine yoga and Pilates. A family friend who is big into yoga recommended to me to stay away from hot yoga, there are no benefits over traditional yoga when I asked her
  • I used to get heavy periods and bad cramping, but once I went on the pill, I don't experience any of those symptoms anymore. Periods also got very light, it is actually a hassle to buy tampons because I can never find a box of just light ones. I still continued to go about my day. And a question for the poster on not going…
  • I just wanted to throw by 2 cents in as well. Weight training or strength training will help you retain your lean muscle mass while you continue to lose fat and decrease your body fat percentage. You will never be able to 'bulk up' without actively trying as well as eating at a surplus. There are many many benefits to…
  • I would go to a physiotherapist that deals with injuries to give you a list of exercises that can be done safely. They are also able to work with you to check proper form.
  • A cheap meal at McDonalds for 2 people is usually $15-20 dollars. I made a lasagna last week (which is not cheap to make) at $40 for pretty much all ingredients. With that I made 1 13x9 inch pan of lasagna and 1 9x9 inch pan of lasagna. That is a lot of lasagna, we were still eating it a week later and pretty much had some…
  • McDonalds coffee used to be terrible until a few years ago when they revamped. Now its decent. I got a lady at work hooked on it since she hadn't had it about 15 years, she was die hard Timmies fan until then. It also depends on how strong you like it. I always find Dunkin Donuts to taste watered down until there is almost…
  • I cannot stand Tim Horton's coffee, I prefer McDonalds or sometimes go to Starbucks, the trick is to get the Blond Roast, the medium and dark are too bitter. Especially since I drink my coffee black. Unless you are getting a fancy drink Starbucks isn't expensive. Small black coffee from McDonalds $1.35, Starbucks, I…
  • Mojito with dark rum, my favourite, Or rum and sprite or soda.
  • I don't simply because I cant. Just because I was lugging around 50 bags of 50lbs worth of wood pellets yesterday (true story) does not mean that I can deadlift 50lbs, or squat with 50 lbs, or bench press 50 lbs. I am working on it, but I am still using 5-8 lbs for overhead shoulder press. I do want to lift heavier and get…
  • The ketchup is for dipping your grilled cheese in. I think I was in my twenties before I saw someone eat grilled cheese without ketchup. And I am going to totally bash poutine, but only because I don't like gravy or potatoes, Adding the two together is even worse, so Gross.
  • My coworker uses it, but he has celiac so special circumstances. You may need to add guar gum since there is no gluten. I haven't tried and I don't know what he makes with it.
  • It should read Ketchup on Kraft Dinner, only way to eat it. Its a Canadian thing, same with ketchup for grilled cheese sandwiches. I haven't met a single Canadian to call Kraft dinner, mac and cheese, unless its homemade Oh and on my scrambled eggs too.
  • I am going to the odd one out and say Potatoes, in all its forms and varieties. Yukon gold type, new potatoes, sweet potatoes, yams are on the top of my Never to eat list. I have never liked them, even when little. Another is mushrooms And why oh why do almost ALL vegetarian options need mushrooms. Mushrooms need not be on…
  • I get shin splints, I am working on strengthening my leg muscles and doing the point toe exercises to see if that helps. DO NOT CONTINUE TO RUN WITH SHIN SPLINTS. It only gets worse and worse so much that it hurts to even walk. It was a very painful and long lesson to learn. When my boyfriend runs, I walk the track or I…
  • I just have to say potatoes are EVIL.. But that is just because I do not like them in any of their various forms. EWW!!
  • Yes, it depends on the brand and type. At home I usually use basic oil and vinegar, but I find when in restaurants and in packets from the grocery store when you ask for balsamic or Italian they look creamy as opposed to homemade versions. Which is different from the Bolthouse ones since they are made to be a healthy…
  • I would maybe go online and check the nutrition or ask at the deli counter, they should have that information. I find that the balsamic or Italian ones are usually more of a cream base and are higher calorie then you would think. You could also buy or make your own dressing for your salads.
  • I use almond butter in my oatmeal for extra protein. It doesn't drown out the other flavours like peanut butter does. I do not like the taste of peanut butter in oatmeal. I also find that quinoa cooks better then rice.
  • I love that coffee, so delicious. I pay more for it then the cheaper coffees. I drink my coffee black. I cant drink the locally roasted coffee in my town, I find it too bitter, reminds me of starbucks. I also found that Kick *kitten* doesn't have me running to the bathroom 30 min after drinking like cheaper coffees do.…
  • I just noticed this as well. I actually gain in the fall, maintain in the summer and lose a bit in the winter/spring. I am a skier and a swimmer and those are winter sports, hiking in the spring/ early summer, then I get lazy and spend all my time at the beach until its too cold and dark. Up until now though my gains have…
  • Quinoa is supposed to be a good source of protein and its gluten free
