  • Increasing calories has helped me lose weight too. I haven't hit any major plateaus, luckily. But once I had a couple of days of minor "indulgence" and suddenly dropped 2-3 lbs a day or so later. I did some reading, and based on that I increased my calorie allowance each day to be just above my BMR. After a couple of days…
  • Wow, good job! Have you been doing any other exercising in addition to 30DS?
  • I'm 5'5", but for years I thought I was 5'6". I measured myself properly when I started on MFP and couldn't believe it. So I looked at my driver's license, converted the cm to inches... and yeah, I've been 5'5" all along. Go figure. I was annoyed that my target goal shifted when I became shorter. Lol.
  • I think it's normal. It has happened to me twice already. Gradual, slow weight loss (not even a plateau, really) and then suddenly I drop 3 pounds in a week. Both times I was actually eating MORE right before dropping the extra weight. I don't know if that is related to it in any way.
  • It's possible that you need to eat more. Check your BMR - your net calories for the day should not be less than your BMR. I think that avoiding "starvation mode" becomes even more important once you are within the healthy BMI and do not have much left to lose.
  • My weakness is my boyfriend. Lol. We both enjoy good food and wine. Sometimes it's too difficult to tell him "No, I won't have truffle-mushroom bruschetta and curried zucchini soup before the main course". I deal with it by either making those days my "zig-zag calories" days to inform my body that it is not starving, or…
  • I often feel the same. If everyone knows about it, it's too much pressure. My solution is to simply not tell people. If anyone notices you choosing low-calorie food or exercising, down-play it. Just say the food is healthier, you feel better eating it. Or exercise helps you burn off stress. Now, they may start noticing…
  • I know what you mean. Relatively speaking, needing to lose only 10-20 lbs does not sound like much compared to someone who needs to lose 150 lbs. But the issues are the same, we face the same challenges. I hope I don't incur anybody's wrath if I say that in some ways it is more difficult to lose a smaller amount of weight,…
  • Could you maybe eat a relatively large lunch at work, eat a light dinner while feeding your daughter at around 6 pm, and then exercise at about 8 or 8:30? I am busy too, and even though I've read that late-day exercising is not ideal, it's the only thing that works for me. If I eat a larger dinner it makes it hard to work…
  • You're not ugly! Honestly, you're not. You've made wonderful progress, congrats!
  • I did 10 days of Level 1 spread over 2 weeks, then took a week-long break because of really sore knees. Anyone else having a knee problem with this DVD? I got back into it after my knees recovered, did level 1 with really good endurance, so declared myself capable of moving on to level 2 the next day. So much for that. I…
  • So far I've only done Level 1 of the 30-Day Shred (tomorrow I intend to graduate to Level 2!) and I've done it 11 times. I noticed that I got quite toned after only the first week of doing the DVD. It was hard to believe that muscles could appear so quickly. The first day is brutal, but stick with it as much as you can,…
