What you may be doing may be great and someone may have called it HIIT but if you can do it for 60 to 80 minutes, it is not HIIT. True HIIT exhausts you in about 15 or 20 minutes and you can't do it every day because of the central nervous system impact. I'm sure your workouts are effective though. OP, as almost everyone…

What eating style will you use once you get to a healthy weight? Will you remain eating keto? You've already been through one cycle of losing and regaining. The losing can often be the easy part. The living at maintenance can be very tricky. It's good to be thinking that through and having a game plan before you get there.
-
But does it really work if you really like carbs? Calories are what matter for weight loss but so does sustainability and eating in a way that makes it easy to comply with your calorie targets. If keto suits your eating preferences, it will be sustainable and is a valid way to control calories. If it doesn't suit your…

Thank you! :*

Honestly, if I'm looking and feeling better, who cares what the scale says. Look for a post by mom2mangoes (I think is her username) it's in the maintenance section. She gained weight but reshaped her body in an awesome way! She called it something like "failed at maintenance" I'd post the link but I'm on my phone and it's…

Yup, water weight for a couple of weeks til it normalized.
-
As others have said it's all preference and performance. There is no real measurable difference either way.
-
Lost 40 lbs just eating less and moving more.
-
I think, based on how little the OP has to lose and how aggressive the approach is, it might be good if the burn is a little overestimated.
-
Excellent post and great insight from one who actually knows what they are talking about in regards to BED. <3 Those who really don't might want to consider refraining from offering suggestions that could possibly do more harm than good.

This^^ What are your goals? I do low impact cardio every day. I walk everywhere as I don't own a car. Can be 3 or 4 miles, can be 9 or 10 up and down hills. I weight train 3 days per week. In my case, I am prioritizing y weight training and that is why all my cardio is low impact. It still has value for overall health. My…

This^ Detoxes don't doing anything for weight loss other than you don't get many nutrients for a few days. All you need is a calorie deficit and patience.

When I read all the comments about arthritis or injuries I consider myself very, very fortunate. At 67 I only have a little arthritis, mostly in my hands. But not much and it doesn't keep me from playing guitar, which I do frequently as a member of a band. As far as injuries, I don't have any that really affect me. For me…

All of this is true. But my question to the OP is, so what? Moving and get more active leads to better health and quality of life. What's the alternative? Worse health and worse quality of life. I am 67. I do workouts similar to what I did when I was younger. I don't push as much weight and my recovery takes a little…

I don't snack at all. I find it harder to stick to my calorie goal when I'm chipping away with 2 or 3 snacks at 150 to 200 calories each. I am more satiated by a satisfying meal and would rather spend my calories there.
-
Honestly, I think you are way too caught up in things like pace, heart rate and other details that just are not that important to overall health to the point it is stressing you out. Based on your user name, you are not a young guy and not training to compete. So, why stress out over these things. If you are hoping to get…

If you have no other performance related goal, this is it. Also, somatypes have been completely debunked.
-
What kind of benefits are you referring to? Most studies on humans conclude the only real benefit is calorie restriction. It is an area that is still under study as far as some of the benefits seen in animal studies applying to humans.
-
This all the way! Take measurements, look in the mirror, how clothes fit. The scale is only 1 data point and not always the most important one as we get closer to goal.
-
This describes it perfectly for me. I'm 67.
-
I did the same thing. So, you are not the only one.
-
Understand that, while what you are doing is fine right now, you will reach a point where you can't get enough progressive overload with just body weight.
-
This^ Also, how you you are feeling the day after indicates you are stressing your muscles.

I think your understanding could use some work. There is so much inaccuracy in these statements that I wouldn't even know where to start. Simply, no matter what the diet or dietary composition, insulin cannot create excess energy out of nothing. If you are in negative energy balance, there is not net storage of energy. It…
-
You do realize that insulin levels rise after meals and fall between meals right? And are low at night after the last meal and before breakfast? And how would insulin cause a net fat storage in a calorie deficit?
-
And diet soda doesn't magically create one. So, no I don't think there is more to it. What tools one uses can be different but it all comes down to energy balance.
-
Some people only see what they want to see. From the study I posted: "Because much of the data on intermittent fasting is from research in animal models, we briefly summarize key rodent studies and reviews." And "Research to date has not demonstrated that alternate day fasting regimens produce superior weight loss in…

Well the burden of proof is on those making the claims of benefit but, I'll play. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4516560/
-
I wonder if you actually read the article. It does not cover intermittent fasting in any way. It references intermittent energy restriction where participants were put on a 7 week at energy restriction, 2 week at maintenance calories cycle compared to the control group that was on continuous energy restriction. So, not…

Please feel free to share any of the science in the form of studies on humans that you feel prove this point. Honestly, I think you may find it a challenge to find any. The rest of your assertions are pretty much nonsense. It can help improve insulin sensitivity. It does nothing for improving workouts and energy substrate…
