Because putting children on medications that have dangerous side effects and aren't absolutely necessary is irresponsible :)
-
Wrong because not all medications affect each person the same way.
-
Certainly you couldn't eat like that for the first couple months after having WLS.
-
I've taken every AD on the market, as well. I was 95 lbs when I started the meds. Prior to starting them, I couldn't gain a pound no matter how hard I tried. After gaining the initial 20 lbs, I saw a dietitian who put me on a restrictive diet and I followed it to a T. I was a competitive gymnast and cheerleader, training 3…

Are you a scientist studying metabolic abnormalities and antidepressants? If not, you have no clue.
-
I guess I should file a lawsuit against my doctors who put me on medications that caused me to gain 111 lbs within 3 years and develop insulin resistance.
-
That is far from true.

If you call a few bites a meal… ETA: Yes, they do eat that little.

Seriously. Talk about hijacking the thread.

@TheOwlhouseDesigns I'm aware that she would still lose weight. That wasn't what I was getting at. My point is that the medications may be the cause of her lack of appetite because loss of appetite is a side effect of many of those drugs. If the meds are the culprit, she needs to try a different medicine because she…

OP: You say you take Wellbutrin and anxiety meds. Did you start the medications after your father died? When you started the Wellbutrin and other medicines, is that when you experienced a loss of appetite? If yes, you need to speak to the doctor who is prescribing these meds and ask them to put you on a different…

No offense but you didn't gain 45 pounds by hardly eating. You gained 45 pounds by overeating. Right now, it sounds like you need to address your emotional instability before trying to lose weight. Weight loss is emotionally and mentally draining. If you aren't mentally stable, you won't lose weight.

I've never heard of prolonged periods from working out. I've heard the opposite. Although, it could certainly be your body's way of adapting. Either way, you need to call your OBGYN because you are experiencing an abnormal cycle.

A goal weight of 90 lbs is significantly underweight. Please seek psychiatric help immediately.

In some ways, yes. In other ways, no. A person who has WLS will never live a 'normal' life so to speak. They will never eat like a normal person, which can interfere with their social life and so on. They also face a number of life-threatening complications, chronic hypoglycemia, daily vomiting, etc. It's not what I would…
-
Don't forget chronic hypoglycemia! That's one of the worst side effects of WLS.

I work at a private school so the rules are probably different for public schools but I eat when my students eat. Or me and the woman I co-teach with will take turns running to the kitchen to scoff food down our throats. LOL
-
Yes, you did. You are suggesting that that is what it means to some people.
-
Says who?
-
'Eat whatever you want' doesn't mean only eat Ben & Jerry's. Anyone with common sense should know that.
-
@walkonfire5 NO ONE here is telling anyone to just eat Ben and Jerry's and only drink Coke. Everyone is suggesting you eat all foods in moderation.
-
@kattom No one is attacking you. You came here seeking advice and that's what everyone is giving you. If you are logging your food every day, please open your diary.
-
Thyroidectomy isn't the reason you aren't losing weight. That's an excuse, to be honest. You aren't losing weight because you aren't in a calorie deficit (meaning you are eating more than you are burning). Do you consistently and honestly log EVERY single piece of food you eat? Do you use a food scale to weigh EVERY single…
-
She thinks you can lose weight while in a calorie surplus, which is just plain false.

I'd rather have saggy skin than excess body fat. If I end up with saggy skin (which I doubt I will because I've only been overweight for 2 years and am young), I'll have skin removal surgery.
-
Ding ding ding! Here's your problem. You have no clue how many calories you are eating because you don't weigh your food. It's simple. Weigh your food if you want to lose weight.
-
As of now, there's no solid evidence that diet soda is bad for your health. Can't say that will be true in the future when current research is completed.

Not a fan of beards. They make men look messy and unprofessional. However, stubble is great.

You became 190 lbs by eating 2000+ calories. You did it once, you can do it again. If you are really struggling, I would add calorie dense foods into your diet such as nuts/seeds, nut butters, olive oil, avocado, etc.
