Thanks!

Same here. Plain Greek yogurt plus fresh fruit and a bit of flaxseed ... for the win!

Sounds familiar. My parents couldn't understand how my bowl of oatmeal was so huge, kept me full for hours, and theirs was so tiny, and they were hungry an hour later. We went through a comparison of the nutritional information. They were using sweetened instant oats. I was using plain oats, and cutting up fresh fruit.…

I had a generic "beach body" goal for the summer, but that's an excellent one to strive for. Thanks!

Well done! I know that motivation from the "before" picture all too well! Good luck to you in achieving your remaining loss target.

Absolutely great! Congratulations!!!

- Get BF% down sufficiently to see the hidden abs - Bench press my own weight - Do a set of unassisted full body weight pull-ups - Do a set of unassisted full body weight dips (for the last two, I'm working my way there via an assisted pull-up/dip machine)

Alternatively, I'll sometimes add egg white. Didn't care for the taste of a whole egg mixed in.

I'd recommend dropping half of those cardio days and getting some strength training in. You'll burn down the weight, strengthen your body, and look better than all cardio.

For weight loss, since January 2014, it's been 100%, "calories in, calories out" for me. As far as whether it has worked, see my before/current photos. Within my CI/CO bounds, I also balance my macro and micro nutrients for better health, on top of my weight loss goals.

Hey! Go digital! I've had one for about a year, probably cost the equivalent of $25. It reads down to 0.1 lb increments, and it is consistent ... i.e., take reading, step off, take reading, step off, take reading ... same reading all 3 times.
-
Between 2 Jan and this morning (10 Jan), I have dropped 11 lbs. Full disclosure ... after 11 rock-solid months in 2014, during December I relaxed a bit too much, and went on what I can only call the "SeeFood Diet" ... many of you have probably been there at one time or another ... "When I See Food, I eat it". Way too many…

PS ... I've been taking glucosamine/chondroitin for couple months now. My knee is a bit better, but is that the weight loss, the exercise, the supplements, ... ? I'm going to stop the course shortly, and see if there's any difference.
-
There are all sorts of potential issues with the knee. For me, my bend is limited due to arthritis, and I have to constantly work at stretching it. See a doctor or physio to get yours assessed. Could be ligaments, could be bones, could be tendons, could be misalignment elsewhere, could be ...

Just about everything is better bacon!!!

This is the converse of what was my problem. We have two teenage boys with massive appetites, so there was an ever-stocked snack shelf. Problem was, I couldn't resist. I made a simple change ... we stopped buying snack food, and gave to boys cash weekly so they could buy their own (shops are within walking distance). Now…

Enjoy all the beans!

Both!!!

I probably did that once a month throughout 2014. One bad day a month certainly didn't hurt overall, as my before/after photos show. Shake it off, and move on to the next day.

Your diary is closed, so it's tough to assess without seeing what you are actually eating. There are plenty of other calorie need estimators on the web. This one is popular amongst MFP users: scoobysworkshop.com

My arthritis is limited to my knees, and like you, I can't run because of it. So for cardio I walk, cycle and "run" on the elliptical. What I don't see in your exercise is any strength work. As a fellow 50-something, I strongly recommend you take it up lifting. It will really help you tighten up - I lost an inch around my…

I can sympathise. Having lost a significant amount of weight, with a bit to go still, some days I feel trim, other days I look at myself and say "ugh". But then I look at my starting photo, and I remember what fat was. Your diary isn't open, so I can see if you are exercising or not. Exercising will make you stronger and…

Wow! On both (weight & kidney) accounts!
-
Well done! PS - We have almost identical stats, so I can completely relate to your progress. If you think you feel good now, just wait until you get that last 15 lbs off!
-
Boy, I really do hope that elliptical is cardio ... otherwise the 30 minutes I just did at 90% max heart rate (plus 5 mins each of warm-up and cool-down) was a complete waste of my time.
-
I put on more than 10 lbs through a month of Christmas parties ... took "eat, drink & be merry" a bit too seriously. I'm in for 10+ in Jan ... already down 3 since Jan 1st (water weight, no doubt).
-
Not just 50 lbs down ... 10 years younger looking too. Well done!

Yes, it is all in your head. Most of us at the gym don't notice others as we are so busy with our own workout. Personally, when I do notice someone out of shape at the gym, I remember my first days last year, and I (mentally) wish them luck and success. I have WAY more respect for someone overweight and at the gym, than…
