  • Update: At this point, everyone who has applied should have received an acceptance owl or a wait list owl. If you did not receive one, then your application may not have been received. Please feel free to submit the application again or contact me. Due to life circumstances, especially around the holidays, students often…
  • Update - Sorry again about the delay, but the plan is that we will start sending out the acceptance and/or wait list owls on Wednesday afternoon ~ Thursday morning :) (With four houses, they may not all go out at the exact same time since the prefects send out the owls for their students). We had to get a few other things…
  • Glad to have so many people applying :) There are still spots left though, so please apply asap if you'd like to guarantee yourself a spot! The first batch of acceptance owls will be going out soon! It may not be for a couple more days, so if you are worried if your application was received, feel free to send me a PM and I…
  • We recently received an application from someone that appeared to use their real name (which gives us no way to contact you). Please make sure to apply using your MFP username! (Also if you did apply with your real name, please submit another application with your username). Thank you :)
  • Make sure to submit an application using this form :) Also I strongly recommend the challenge, we are definitely looking for some new students and, as a current student you get the first chance to apply for Term 11 too if you enjoyed the challenge. I've been a student for several terms now (and I'm currently a staff member…
  • I highly recommend the challenge :) I'm one of the Ravenclaw prefects and I've been in the challenge since Term 3 (as a regular student for a couple of the terms and prefect for the others) and I love it! Lots of Harry Potter themed things in addition to helping me stay on track!
  • Current Ravenclaw here, I definitely recommend the challenge for any fans of the Harry Potter series looking for additional motivation :)
  • I'm currently one of the Ravenclaw prefects and I highly recommend the challenge :) Lots of fun if you're an HP fan!
  • As a current student for the last 3 terms, I highly recommend the challenge :) Lots of mini challenges each week to help keep you on track with your goals. I hope to see some of you in Ravenclaw!
  • Just joined :) Can't wait for it to start!
  • As a current member (Ravenclaw), I strongly recommend the challenge for any HP fans :) Lots of fun challenges and it's enjoyable getting to know your housemates over the term. Plus, it definitely has helped me lose weight!
  • Personally I do not tell most of my family and friends since I do not want comments and advice. Some people are better off with that support and accountability, but I just feel too much pressure and it does not help me.
  • If you're still looking for more help, I'd love to help out too :)
  • I had a family member comment after about 2 months, then a few friends that I don't see too much also mentioned something about a month later. Most people don't comment, but I prefer it that way since it makes me feel a bit awkward since I still have so much to lose. Personally I never comment on someone's weight loss…
  • Kayla, 25. I just joined because I had to do a plank for another challenge and I had never realized just how hard they are! I can go 30 seconds at most, although that is pretty difficult for me, so I'm hoping this challenge will increase that amount :)
  • Feel free to add me, I'd love more friends :)
  • I have the same type of lean cuisine every day for breakfast (chicken parmesan). Personally I really enjoy the taste of that one and it is easy to make in the morning since it will cook while I'm getting ready. Plus then I do not need to weigh out anything either, so it's also convenient for portion control. That being…
  • I'd like to join too if there is still room, thanks :)
  • I have a cheat day once a month where I'll eat 2000-3700 calories (I eat 1200-1500 calories normally). You will probably have more water weight for a couple days after a cheat day if you've consumed a lot of sodium (which can easily happen based on the foods most people cheat with). I always avoid weighing myself for about…
  • Walking is actually very good for bone density. "According to the National Osteoporosis Foundation, the best exercises for building and maintaining bone density are: Weight-bearing exercise, such as walking, that makes you work against gravity while staying upright. Muscle-strengthening exercise, such as weight lifting,…
  • 5 ft SW: 153 lbs (SW on here, my highest was 170 lbs which is what encouraged me to start losing weight) CW: 140 lbs GW: 110 lbs I might aim for 100 lbs depending on how I look when I hopefully hit 110 lbs (when I was a teenager I was 120 lbs and I was still very chubby looking because my fat tends to go to my stomach…
  • I guess I'm in the minority, but I find some lean cuisine dishes to be very tasty and filling. Maybe I am just bad at cooking though haha. Still, I think they can be very helpful if you are bad at controlling portion sizes. The only real issue that I have with them is the high sodium content, but they're still a lot better…
  • My heart rate monitor (the kind you wear as a chest strap) gives me a much lower number than exercise machines give me. For example, on an exercise bike for 1 hour (with almost all of it being "in zone" for my heart rate), it gives me 477 calories burned while my machine said somewhere around 750 calories. Since the heart…
  • If you're willing to do exercise at home, I'd definitely recommend getting some fitness videos. I watch Jillian Michaels videos- a lot of her workouts are fairly short but very intense, plus you typically only need hand weights and only a little space to move around. Alternatively, you can buy some exercise equipment for…
  • I usually listen to upbeat party/pop songs. So typically songs by Katy Perry, Ke$ha, P!nk, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Britney Spears, etc. I also love music from Glee too. My favorite at the moment though is Let It Go by Idina Menzel from Frozen :)
  • Mirtazapine actually is an antidepressant though. Even though antidepressants are called that, they are used for MANY things. It doesn't mean you are depressed. In fact, mirtazapine is actually used as an appetite stimulant for some people because of the increased appetite affect. If it keeps causing you these issues, I'd…
  • If you're conscious about what you're eating, you shouldn't gain weight since it really only has that effect by increasing appetite. But that can be a huge issue and if it becomes a problem then you can always talk to your doctor about trying something else. By the way, the first 1-4 weeks are usually the worst for side…
  • That's interesting, thanks! I know it's been used to treat insulin resistance in PCOS but haven't heard about it other circumstances.
  • I'm a bit confused, why would you take metformin for hypoglycemia? Metformin actually lowers your blood sugar (which is why patients with type 2 diabetes take it), so wouldn't that be making the problem worse?
