@Gaynze I personally haven’t seen an increase in thirst (I was already drinking 1.5-2.0 gal water daily, which may account for the lack of thirst increase); however, liquid waste has increased. From threads on the topic (highly summarized), the decrease in carbs causes loss of places to store water but with so much…

short answer: salt. salt. and more salt. and lots of water. did i mention salt? long answer: what type of questions do you have/what do you struggle with in making the transition? i have seen most people here being willing to help; but the above is the biggest overall recommendation i have seen on other starting out posts.

i can't comment on the alcohol element, but re-learning food stuff is rough. and it may work for you to use that much during the morning and spread them throughout the other meals. it just depends on how your body reacts to the carb reduction.

I may be able to comment on this later this week. I have an unexpected physical on Thursday that looks like it will have labs drawn

@CarolynRSB yup, you are not the only one that moves the scale to make sure the floor being used didn't change in some way.

thank you, @nvmomketo sorry to hear you injured your knee while playing; hopefully it gets better sooner than later.

Can't in the "this doesn't taste good in large batches so not worth the effort to make" way or the "these-taste-so-good-i-will-just-have-one-to-test-to-see-if-others-will-like-and-now-i-have-no-carbs-for-the-month-and-no-goodies-for-anyone-else-to-eat" way? (i am definitely the latter. which is hard since i enjoy baking.)

@nvmomketo sorry to hear about the arthritis; but glad to hear things are looking better. With the carnivore diet, does it cut out seasoning or “only” some of the other stuff that Keto uses to help minimize boredom? Thank you for the book references as well

You are welcome

@qweck3 Thank you for sharing (both today and in the past); what do you do for higher protein and lower fat? Based on comments by you, Sunny_Bunny_ and others, I have been trying to increase my protein with minimal fat increase; but most of what I am finding has higher fat along with the higher protein (i count myself…

good luck @stormywxs288! @rsclause ouch :'( i am impressed you can do it even when it's not cold. wow

@kpk54 that is a great mantra. (and i am in the same boat of loving candy. with lots of kids at home…though i did ok last year on strictly CICO and watching how much i ate rather than worrying about carbs; hopefully i do ok this year with wanting to watch carbs than strictly calories). tonight will be rough for me to…

@chinatowninchina glad to hear you are back home; hope the unpacking goes well. i am jealous of your ability to see the time that Thanksgiving is coming and deciding to get started now and see what comes when it comes. That is awesome; good luck this week!

I think it depends on where you are & how food labels mark it (eg US has total carbs listed while the UK, from several other discussions I’ve seen, tracks net carbs on the labels) I would recommend you either creating custom foods that track how _you_ want to track or find food entries that match what you are tracking…

thank you, @tcunbeliever

@chelletackett I only did it because what I could find out about keto flu sounded like my daily life and keto/low carb is supposed to help with that. for me, it was easier to just drop down immediately, and know I would have days that I would end up eating more carbs, instead of weaning myself off. It was surprising to me,…
-
@Everyonelies you made it! congrats on the trend and getting some external validation
-
@tcunbeliever thank you for that insight; that might explain why i couldn't leave the pecan pie m&ms alone (in addition to lacking willpower). i will have to try the chicken/parmesan pizza crust...that sounds to die for. do you use it alone or do you put additional toppings on it?

thank you

👍 what she (@teresamwhite) said (apologies for not being as succinct)

i went cold turkey down to 5% (from the same 50-60%) and didn't get keto flu. but, as with all things diet, each person is different. as @nvmomketo (on this thread) & @Sunny_Bunny_ (on some other threads) have pointed out, increase your sodium intake as your carbs decrease. i think the amount of salt i use on my food…
