I went from 240'sh down to 200 on 5-2. I ate lots of green beans and stir-fry on my "fast days." Never had a problem staying under 600 calories, or being hungry.

The Acorn squash grow on a vine, not a bush like other squashes. They have fewer fruit and it takes longer for them to get ripe. So far we have cooked them a couple three ways. It's a hard fleshed fruit, so you have to cook it a good while to soften it up. When I'm baking them with butter and brown sugar, {my favorite way…

I'll go right into the ground with squash seeds shortly. These were just an "I can't wait until Spring" impulse planting. They will go into a kiddie pool, along with peppers, tomatoes and whatever else comes along before it get's too full. I'll break {or cut} the root mass into three pieces. About 3 vines to the hill. Last…

That will be quite the impressive lineup. My wife wants us to try asparagus and strawberries, but when I was a kid, Mamma tried growing them, and they never did very good. I've got peach seeds in soil, but so far no sprouts from them. I'm a big coffee drinker, so the coffee trees would be nice. I did grapevines and fruit…

I've heard the same thing about Acorn squash, but my wife is so amped up to get some going, I took a chance. I'll be planting seed in the ground soon, so these few are just an attempt at getting an early harvest. And I'm hoping I've had my last frost, but I doubt it. Late March to early April is the average. If I have much…

I got all the tomato and pepper sprouts into cups. I bought a 6 pack of Beef Steak tomatoes last week. But they are heirloom, so I can save the seeds from them. I had planned on putting the Acorn squash and Cilantro into cups also, but there was a couple new AS sprouts this morning, so they get another week or so under the…

My mobile corn-patch. Next time I will start them off in separate containers. Getting the roots untangled was a job of work. Now in smaller to-go containers.

I made my turkey/turkey sausage burgers tonight. Also had garlic green beans, tomatoes, corn and Jalapeno {and Chili} poppers. Angle food cake with ice cream for dessert. Very good.

I have a pretty big stretch of front yard too. I like it being open when it's time to mow. But we took in a good chunk of it last year and planted fruit trees. They are holding on, but that's about it.

Looks good. I plant flowers in the middle of my garden where the waterline is. It adds some color to the garden for sure. I'm trying to steer my 88 year old Mamma toward raised beds. She always gets me to help her plant, and she plants too much. We won't even mention her threats to shoot Sister's peacocks over her plants.…

I'm on a hobo stove kick, and the green beans were in the biggest can in the house. So we had garlic green beans with almond slices, peas, ham with pineapple, sweet potato and a roll. And tonight at the camp I will make coffee in my new hobo stove.

Supper was kale, sweet potato, peas, broccoli and ham with pineapple. Very good. The kale and broccoli was picked from the garden this morning. The peas are out of the freezer.

My customers fed me tonight. It was honey glazed carrots, yellow rice and chicken breast. Pretty good. They ate very late though. And I had an early lunch, so lots of snacking in between.
-
We also had Mexican tonight. I went with the Adobe Shrimp. It was my first time eating it, and it was pretty good. What was not good was the salsa. It was so salty we couldn't eat it. Some in our group tried to water it down with ketchup, but it was still too salty. So not too many chips ate tonight.

Pruden's Purple seeds ready to plant.
-
Taco soup tonight, with a touch of Colby Jack and blue corn chips. Also peach cobbler and ice cream. YUM.

Pretty cool.

You were just an hour from the Larro Ranchero.

Imagine chili and black beans and rice mixed together with sausage and corn chips added. {because I didn't take a picture} It was pretty good.
-
Black beans and rice, and a slaw mix and sausage stir-fry. The stir-fry was lacking something, but then it was mild sausage.

We tried a kind of new place tonight. It used to be a Boar's Head Tavern, now it's called the Sandbar and Grille. I had the grilled chicken breast with sweet potato waffle fries and a pasta salad. The food was good, but the place is pretty loud. But then it was Friday night.

Chili for supper tonight. A {Bison Canyon} mix with ground turkey, ground turkey sausage, chili beans, kidney beans, corn, tomato, tomato w/green chili, fajita seasoning and lime juice added. Not too bad.

I planted a few White Oak acorns. Hoping to get some trees going to feed the deer.

Super {bowl} supper was egg roll in a bowl, steamed broccoli {out of the garden}, sausage, turnips and a roll. The egg roll in a bowl is a new recipe, and a keeper.
