  • I'm sure you could gain a decent amount of muscle but don't expect to have 20 inch biceps.
  • If you are looking simply to maintain health then the best thing you can do is eat your maintenance calories(based on BMR) and then just add exercise to your routine(resistance and cardio). You will loose weight slowly but you will build muscle. As time goes on you will build muscle that will help you burn fat. Every 2-3…
  • It's all percentages. For most individuals loosing that much weight is dangerous. When you weigh 300 something pounds however where you need to eat nearly 4k just to maintain that weight cutting down to a normal 2k diet spreading it out to multiple meals and then burning an additional 500 calories by just walking for an…
  • From what I understand through study of the subject and personal experience it depends. When slimming down you need to maintain a calorie deficit. You can do this by reducing calories and increasing exercise. Most calculations for burning calories are based on measurements done on athletes(around 8% bf) so when a machine…
  • I think it depends on your workout. When I was doing 2-3 hr. low intensity workouts(walking, eliptical, etc.) I would listen to audiobooks and let my mind wander and not focus on the workout. Recently when I switched to shorter(30-60 min) high intensity interval training or circuit training generally the workout is so…
  • Her perspective is that if you have land and leave it barren as opposed to using it to produce something it is considered an abuse of the land. Its like a house on your street that is all boarded up and the weeds are creeping in. It's abusive because it is not maintained and drives down the value of the land and…
  • I currently attend UCSD and we have a huge biomedical school here performing research on the subject. Whenever its brought up professors and students scoff at the assertion that there is any benefit to "organic"(all life and thus plants are organic by definition) foods. Ask a geneticist and he will tell you that that foods…
  • I think that you should do so whenever you think about it, but only once a day and in the morning if possible. Like someone else said your body weight can fluctuate so don't put a bunch of emphasis on the number. I just want to have a nice smooth graph when I look back and it can help you notice if something negatively or…
  • My technique is to wear my clothes one more time throughout the day. If I don't feel sexy in them I then put them in a black bag to take to good will. I still keep 1-2 sets of old clothes for yard work or anything that might get my nice new clothes dirty.
  • As a dude I can tell you that it is really challenging. I go to a studio from time to time or do a routine from a video at home and 10 min. into a session I'm already sweating, by the end of a 60 minute routine my body is shaking trying to keep its weight up. My primary benefits are flexibility and strengthening muscles a…
  • Congrats, what are you going to accomplish next, now that you have confidence in yourself?
  • The problem is that people are just too smart to loose weight. Its stupid easy to loose weight but we over think it and go "well I was good the rest of the week I DESERVE it!" or "I ran an extra mile today so I'll have an extra cookie". You arn't working out harder so you can eat more, you are doing it to be fit.
  • @ElizaRoche great shoulders, would look great in a strapless.
  • That must be horrible, I can just imagine breathing in the fat :(
  • I think how they say it is more important than what they say. If they a genuine and enthusiastic about it then I feel that there is no reason to be mad.
  • The problem for most HRM is that they consider the weight of 314 lb's to be of pure muscle. Muscle at rest burns alot more calories than fat at rest. The HRM will be more accurate if it asks you if you are of either average/athletic build. Also many HRM use a algorithm to compute the data so if they had 5 test subjects at…
  • The main problem with loosing weight quickly IMO is the skin hang.
  • Im not sure what HRM you are using but in general even they are an estimation because from what I have read in fitness articles the measurements are normally computed using data gathered from University studies. These studies are conducted within the sports department on individuals who's muscle to fat ratio is far greater…
  • I think it depends on what you are doing. If you are trying to loose weight as in your case and mine. I believe eating a well ballanced high protien meal afterwards is generally good. Your body can only metabolise fat so fast so assisting it by eating a small meal can reduce how much muscle is broken down for energy. For…
  • ] My thoughts exactly. The way I think of it is high and low end of a scale. So for me if set to athletic Im getting around 11% while on average i get around 16% so I figure im somewhere in between there. I use this and just looking at myself to estimate how much weight I'd like to loose. With my goal being 5% body fat I…
  • @ mommy2AR I'd give you an 8 at the bar, maybe 8.5 lol.
  • Sometimes the questions we ask are not the answers we seek.
  • It depends on your vantage point, but perhaps the usefulness of my comments have run their course. I bid you all good day ;) and good luck to the poster.
  • Social expectations/obligations of men and women are completely different within the context of a male and female relationship. To put it blunt i expect a woman to have a vagina as I expect a man to have a penis. That is an expectation based on a physiological difference of men and women. The subject of the thread was…
  • My generalizations have been made within the context of the subjects being discussed. As the subject has become more specific and detailed so has my generalization. An example of this contextualization via subject of a generalization is as follows. A Mazda Miata may be generalized to be a car within the subject of objects.…
  • Is my statement then made false? Also the distinctions between men and women extend far beyond physiology. If one is to admit that the physiology of Males and Females are indeed different, and therefore not equal, biological psychology concludes that the behavioral nature of the individuals would be different as well. The…
  • Yep absolutely true. Lingerie is more for special events/ if you want to get some. Yoga pants and a tank IMO are just fine though for an average night. I think the problem might have to do with your sex life. I could see how if I wasn't getting any how I would want my girl to wear something more revealing.
  • When I wake up, normally after I take a crap/piss, and don't wear a thin.
  • I am assuming that you have incorrectly identified my contextual use of the word equal. The mere fact that we identify males and females with separate words indicated that there are differences.
  • I would hesitate to make such a broad and generalized statement as that, but I do prefer women to men for certain things and vice versa. We all have our places in life.
