The recipe maker is definitely your friend. If I'm making something that I can't just easily add portions in I make a recipe for it on MFP. This has been a life saver for meal prep since I usually cook a week's worth of lunches on Sunday and split it up into portions. Just make a recipe on MFP, set it to "10 servings,"…

If you don't mind the sugar, my go to small oatmeal mixture is 1/4 cup quick oats, 1/4 cup water and 1/4 cup milk (you could do all milk or water, I like to have the milk flavor), and just 1 tablespoon of maple syrup. It ends up being like 160ish calories. Hell you could double that and still be under 400 calories. A…

Protein smoothies can be made with so many different ingredients it's ridiculous. I tend to do a mixture of whey, frozen berries, and peanut butter. But you can put basically anything you want in there. A handful of spinach won't be noticeable either and you get some bonus green leafy veg. You can also add flaxseed for…

Crockpots are your friend. I do a different crockpot recipe each week so I don't get bored. Soup, stews, big pot roasts, jambalaya or paella, etc. Anything you can make and just divide up into equal portions throughout the week is good. I also like to hard boil eggs or make some kind of egg muffins for the week.

If you're referring to people who are starving with distended stomachs, that is usually the result of kwashiorkor, a malnutrition specific to a lack of protein in the diet. You can be eating a sustainable amount of calories but go without protein long enough and kwashiorkor is the result. The distended stomach is from the…

If you have a muffin tin you could make yourself some "egg muffins" to have on hand throughout the week. They last a good 6-7 days in the fridge just fine and are great for breakfast or just a snack! http://www.averiecooks.com/2014/05/100-calorie-cheese-vegetable-and-egg-muffins.html is the base recipe I use, but you can…

+1 for Optimum Nutrition (ON) gold standard brand. Right now I have the milk chocolate flavor but I've tried and liked other chocolate flavors and my boyfriend uses vanilla milkshake, which is also delicious. Vanilla milkshake mixed with milk and some ice really does taste like ice cream!

Depends if you can find a good one and whether or not it's a style of exercise you like. I prefer working out alone - I don't even like going with friends - so someone hounding me like a PT is annoying. But some people like or need that hounding to push themselves. Whatever you do, make sure they're decent. There are two…

Do you KNOW you have overgrowth - as in, seen a doctor about it? I just ask because sometimes people assume when they are having stomach problems but don't know for sure. It could be a number of things. If you know for sure, and you are having a lot of problems, do yourself a favor and follow the restrictive diet to the…

I bulk cook every Sunday. You don't have to do anything crazy or take too much time of your day depending on the recipe. My advice is get a crockpot if you don't have one, and find some easy crockpot recipes. Stews, soups, roasts, etc. When it's done at the end of the night divide it up into however many servings you want…

I apologize because this will probably turn into a novel of a post: I studied livestock nutrition in college, so I had to take a lot of metabolic nutrition, including some human nutrition. My take on the Paleo diet is basically: It's a great way to force people to cut out foods that are easy to overeat. You would probably…

I would like to drop about 10 pounds to get my bodyfat % lower - I love lifting! It's pretty much my only exercise haha, I'm pretty lazy about cardio but I do enjoy the gym. I lifted almost every day in high school but college knocked it out of me - now that I'm in the "real world" I joined a gym a couple months back and…

At just under 5'4" I hover between 128-130 pounds. This tends to be the weight I "sit at" when I don't really pay attention to what I eat, although I do cook 3 meals a day and am pretty poor at the moment so even if I don't "pay attention" to my food I know I'm not overeating because, well, I can't haha. If I had access to…

I also wanted to add that when you read articles that claim "x causes cancer and it's found in your food" or "avoid this food because it will give you problems" understand that in studies where they give something to a rat and it gets cancer, two things you need to know: 1) They give an insane amount of the chemical to the…

The whole list is ridiculous, but as someone who works in agriculture the "hormone" gripe gets to me a lot. So just know that no matter what food you eat - conventional, organic, grass-fed, whatever - no food humans eat contains anywhere near the level of hormones needed to produce a response in the body. To put this in…

You may not like this answer if you aren't a morning person but: In college I had 8ams most days, and did the gym before class. Got there at 6am when it opened almost every morning. Early bird gets the workout, I guess?

10lbs isn't a lot, especially if that's all you need to lose. I've been "losing 10-15 pounds" since the beginning of this year, starting at 132lbs...at 132 pounds I was not overweight so I totally admit the last 10 are vanity pounds (trying to relive my high school glory days, haha) - which is why I'm not "trying" too hard…
