Edit: You've "just" started feeling this way last night? Do you have an ear infection? Ear infections typically give people vertigo and dizzy throughout the day. I think my advice below to go see a doctor still applies since they can easily check your ears to see if there's fluid building up. ... I teach a blood pressure…

My sister follows a "variation" of it but really all she's done is taken out dairy and most gluten. The dairy makes sense for her because she's very, very lactose intolerant and has always gotten sick trying to eat it...but I wouldn't say that means Paleo is a success for everyone so much as it forced her to stop eating…

"Veggies with hummus" is a common suggestion and sometimes I crave it but to be honest I'm not a fan of hummus...not enough to make it a staple snack. So if that works for you great, if not don't feel bad. I prefer snacking on sweeter or richer things...a handful of nuts, a handful of berries, maybe a small serving of…

A big cup of hot chocolate tends to ward off most evening snack cravings for me. Don't skimp on the cocoa powder either, I find the lower calorie versions don't do it as well...but I do 50% milk and 50% water so there's less calories in the liquid, and then a full serving of delicious Ghirardelli double chocolate hot cocoa…

If you're really 125 at 5'9", your BMI is just barely in the healthy weight limit, bordering underweight. I agree with the above that just buying underwear that fits you better is the easiest solution because I highly doubt you have much fat to lose. But if you want to work on hardening up your body, strength training is…

Unless you're eating a lot (A LOT) you won't put on "too much" muscle. It's not like a few cheat meals will do it either, bulking is a very conscious effort for both men and women, especially women. I lift 3-4 times a week going as heavy as I can go and I'm a size 2-4 in most things...nothing bulky here to speak of, hah.…

I'm another coffee in the morning and tea in the afternoon person. It's just a mental thing, my mind likes smelling and brewing espresso first thing in the morning to wake me up. And in the afternoon if I don't want more caffeine I do a decaf herbal tea instead.

"Fruity smoothie": 1 cup mixed frozen berries, 1 scoop protein, a handful of spinach, milk or water, and peannut butter if I want the calories "Frapp": 1 shot of espresso cooled down, 1 shot of milk, 1 scoop chocolate protein, 1 spoonful of peanut butter, ice ice ice, blend it up...frozen banana for a bonus if I have any…

Haha, it is a universal food that goes with pretty much anything...coffee, alcohol, marshmellows, ice cream...etc :)

Hot chocolate. Usually at the end of the night after dinner. Sometimes I'll just throw a shot of espresso in there for a "mocha" but caffeine or not I like my hot chocolate.

There's no such thing as a "good" or "bad" breakfast so much as how it makes you feel and how it fits into your overall diet. There's nothing "bad" really about eating a donut for breakfast, I just know I'll be hungry an hour later and end up eating more, haha. My ideal breakfast is pretty high in protein and/or fat so it…

For a while I worked full time as an animal technician...8-10 hour shifts on your feet scrubbing, cleaning, walking, talking to people, lifting, etc. I lost a lot of weight from that job, on accident - I actually got a little underweight from it. But that was also because I didn't watch my diet much, I tended not to eat…

Feel free to add. Although I admit I am not logging today...because it's my birthday. Haha. The little hole in the wall place I'm going to for dinner/dessert doesn't have nutritional info anyway so I'm enjoying a day off. But otherwise I'm usually pretty consistent.
-
Make fruit your dessert instead of something to snack on throughout the day, if you tend to overmunch on them. I'm kind of the same way...I could eat a whole container of strawberries in a sitting, easily haha. But dress up some fruit a little for a sweet dessert at the end of the night if you're worried you'll eat too…

Hmm...I spent undergrad studying agriculture sciences and food science so this is a bit specific for me, haha. Long story short: no. No food you eat in any amount will affect your endocrine system - it doesn't matter if it's meat, veg, soy, dairy, whatever, there just isn't enough of anything for it to matter to your body.…

I drink tea a lot, especially on chilly days I like it better than having cold water all day. If I do caffeinated varieties I usually re-steep the same tea leaves a few times so I'm not getting so much caffeine throughout the day (too much makes me jittery)...but I also have some herbal teas that are naturally decaf that…

Full fat dairy everything. Whole milk, full fat yogurt, cheese, etc. Veggies with dinner? Saute those veggies in generous butter. In fact anything you cook add butter or oil to it. If you aren't a big dairy fan there's all sorts of tasty fats...olive oils, coconut oil, etc. But cheese and full fat dairy products and cream…

First sentence in article: "Forget about counting calories." Aaand I'm out.

I can't do any of the big multis, they make me throw up even if I eat before hand. I don't know, guess my body just doesn't like getting that much at once. Also my doc said some people don't do well absorbing that much iron/zinc at one time and their bodies think you've accidentally poisoned yourself, which would explain…

A lot of fast food places these days even have calorie information right on their menu. I know McDonald's and Chic-Fil-A does, and Panera/Starbucks, etc. So even if you don't know things off hand depending on where you go there may be information there for you. Also most restaurants have the information on a piece of paper…

Haha yes I know, thank you. Some beans do not do well with low heat cooking. Black beans are not one of those beans :) It's the red varieties (and kidney beans for sure) for the most part that have that issue and some of the beige as well. But black beans, chickpeas, etc, are fine to do in a slow cooker. Saying "slow…

I just picked up our two boxes. Thin Mints for me and Samoas for him. They might last a day...or two :D

Yes I love cooking a big batch of beans (usually 1lb at a time) and freezing them, usually in 1 cup portions. That's enough for either a side for the two of us or I pull down more if I'm doing a vegetarian/bean dish. My routine for black beans (and most beans really) are soak them overnight, then rinse and toss in the…

If you have the space in your fridge, I sometimes make flavored water when I'm not being good about drinking enough and want to spice it up...I have a huge water container (it looks like this https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/a5/87/7a/a5877af7d5beb0ada24ed8b78514236e.jpg) that I drop some fresh fruit in -…

One of the points of marinades is you can get a lot of flavor without adding too much to the meat. I think I've read somewhere before that it's about 1 tbsp of marinade per serving of meat (more or less, not precise though) that gets absorbed but really, unless you're doing some super heavy marinade or eating a LOT of it…

1450 is what I eat on days I don't do any cardio when trying to lose weight...and I'm 5'4" and just under 130lbs. You definitely need more, haha. I mean yes if you ate that every day you would lose the weight but you'll probably feel like crap doing so. Also if you're lifting a lot I don't recommend such a drastic cut in…

I had a slice of this http://www.budgetbytes.com/2011/12/banana-bread-oatmeal/ It's one of my favorite breakfast comfort foods...makes my home smell like banana bread and tastes great with a lot less calories. I cut it up into 8 servings so each piece is ~250 calories.

People go to the gym for themselves, not others. The few that do go to show off to others aren't worth your time anyway (we've all seen them, they're hilarious, but otherwise useless)...I promise that nobody cares, haha. I see the same people in my small gym and we all keep to ourselves, some train together but most of us…

My schedule is off and on but I am home more often than not lately doing work from there, and I find it hardest to stick with calorie goals when I have the entire afternoon to myself at home, mostly because of snacking. I notice it's even worse if I'm bored - I will get up and look for stuff in the kitchen to kill time.…

Any strength training is better than nothing, for sure. Can you do body weight exercises? Push-ups, pull-ups, squats, etc, are all great. Movements that work your core like holding plank positions for a long time are also good. Also, while pushing yourself is certainly good, just be careful. If your doc has really put a…
