Oh, you're not done yet.

I've got nothing to add except that I. Love. Pho. Oh, one thing. You might save some calories by getting the chicken, but you're also changing the base flavor of the soup and it's... well... a beef soup. Give yourself a treat and make up for it later. Might also ask if they've got leaner choices on beef. The Vietnamese…

I swear this is like a fatty porn thread. I'm dying here. Everything so far sounds good... very very good... but I'm sticking with my Taco Bueno nachos. Bueno is a regional chain, mostly South/Southeast, and so much tastier/greasier than Taco Bell.

I personally like Valentina better. Similar consistency and flavor profiles though.

Nachos. Nothing but nachos.

I put hot sauce on everything. Everything. No, really, everything. Sri racha, Valentina Extra Hot, Frank's Red Hot... all have permanent spots in my home. Pre-blended seasonings like that would work. But you might get tired of everything tasting like Mrs. Dash after a bit. I like Old Bay too, but it can be a bit of a…

This! Anything you peel, it's not necessary to buy organic. The chemicals they spray on stay on the skin, which gets removed. Yes, you use your hands to remove it... just wash well. Simple. And store brands are fine, about 95% of the time. Target's store brands are great.

Stock up on: dried beans and lentils. Brown rice. Greens (fresh or frozen if possible, canned if necessary). Tomatoes. Eggs are pretty cheap, even the good free-range ones. Fruit. Whatever's in season will (A) taste better than anything out of season and (B) be cheaper. Don't buy strawberries in December or apples in July.…

I'd known for a long time I was "too big" but had been sort of lying to myself about how bad it was. One of my favorite fast food places is right down the street from me. I went there two nights in a row for dinner. Guy at the drive-thru gave me a look the second night that sort of said "Dude. Really?" I started the next…

Probably all will be about the same. Might see if the kitchen will use "light" coconut milk for you and save a little fat. Personal favorite is red though. Red curry is clearly superior.

Left-over black bean and cornbread bake/casserole/thing. http://eatair.blogspot.com/2007/12/black-bean-cornbread-pie.html Don't let the word "vegan" throw you. It's really good. Throw some beef or chicken in there if you want, add some cheese, no one's going to tattle.

I do a weekly check-in on Friday morning. Sometimes followed up with a Saturday double-check if I think Friday's was off. Went a long time without weighing at all until I realized I had lost so much weight there was no telling what my calorie goal really should be. Didn't want to make it about an arbitrary number. Put the…

Not to get too preachy because I recognize the benefits of high-protein diets but the body needs _some_carbohydrates to function, just like the other macronutrients. Since I started having at least one (sometimes 2-3) pieces of fresh or dried fruit a day I feel so much better. Could be the carbs, could be the vitamins,…

It's not often the world looks to Scottish cuisine for health tips, but they know their oats. Look up recipes for something called Skirlie. It's more like a rice thing than a "bowl of oatmeal" thing. Going more that direction, if you pick up some steel cut or whole oat groats they behave much more like rice, barley, etc.…

Hot sauce. But that's combining my five different hot sauces I use into one category. Sriracha is good on some things, others call for Louisiana or Valentina Extra Hot. Also apples. Now that they're in season I go through a couple or three pounds a week easy.

I just tried chickpea salad (mock tuna salad) the other day and discovered I actually like the other stuff that goes in it more than the tuna. Gotta be careful with the mayo/vegenaise because of calorie counts, but lightly mashed chickpeas sort of turn into their own binder. I keep it simple: red onion, dill pickles, a…

What's worked for me is changing my mindset about my "cheat days"... instead of the giant burger and a mountain of fries, the small burger (now I even hold the cheese and mayo) and maybe small fries or a baked potato. Tacos and burritos were what I missed most to start with, but Taco Bell does a respectable job for a fast…

I do a weekly check-in now. Sometimes twice a week, if I think I caught myself on a bad day. For the longest time I didn't weigh at all and just went by how clothes fit, until I realized I was completely guessing at my calorie goal.

I've been sticking with lite beer, bourbon and diet cola, gin and club with lime. They say red wine is good for you and relatively low-calorie but I just can't do it. I also have a water or sugar-free energy drink every second or third order. For me, the bar isn't the pitfall. It's the search for food afterward to pile…

First post here. Hi, y'all. Started this thing March of last year, wearing waist 40 jeans. I'd bought some 38 slim-fit ones from one of those "deal of the day" sites, mostly by accident. Two months in, was able to wear them. This month they're entirely too big, can't even cinch them up with a belt anymore, so someone at…
