I'm following Tom Venuto's "Burn the Fat, Build the Muscle" program (BFFM), and I highly recommend it. There's info about that program in this thread: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/246214-burn-the-fat-feed-the-muscle And a description of the program is at Tom Venuto's website:…

Feel free to add me! I'd love to have another MFP friend as I work on losing the remaining 24 lbs.!

I've been a "clean eater" for the past few months, since I started following Tom Venuto's "Burn the Fat, Build the Muscle" program (BFFM). I posted a lot of info about what I eat in the BFFM thread ( http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/246214-burn-the-fat-feed-the-muscle ) -- hopefully that gives you some ideas for how…

I'm glad that you're going to have a doctor check this out! Having a heart rate that high during your workout is definitely a concern. My heart rate during my workout is typically ~138, which is ~80% of my max heart rate of 174 (= 220 - age = 200 - 46). My resting heart rate is ~56 BPM.

I think the BFFM program is great! Not only am I losing fat and without losing lean muscle mass, eating nutrient dense food 5 times a day minimizes the hunger pangs and gives me more energy than I've ever had before. After going on the BFFM program ~3 months ago, I feel better physically than I've ever felt in my life. I'm…

Some people (like me) who are following Tom Venuto's "Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle" program are also following the strength training type eating plan that you mentioned, and we've been discussing what we eat in this thread: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/246214-burn-the-fat-feed-the-muscle?page=1#posts-3803089…

Hi Lmr9 -- 34% sounds way too high! Especially since you're so close to your goal weight. From what I've seen, the body fat scales can be pretty inaccurate. I have a Tanita scale that measures body fat, and the readings does show the body fat trend over time pretty well, but the body fat readings can vary a lot from day to…

Hi Imr9 - I'm sorry that I wasn't able to reply for so long. After I PM'd you Mon. of last week, work got really hectic and stayed that way till now (I ended up having to work all day last Sat. as well). The rest of last weekend turned out to be really busy too (more on that below). Anyway, it was very interesting to hear…

Welcome! I'm relatively new to MFP too (I joined in March 2011) and would also like more encouraging friends on this weight loss journey. Right now I do 60 min (~8.5 mi.) on the Stairmaster every day, and have just gotten some weight training equipment. I'm planning to do weight training 3 times a week once I get…

Yay! Another BFFM fan! I read the BFFM book recently and it made a lot of sense to me, so I've recently started following the BFFM program. I was going to start a thread to see if anyone else on MFP was on the BFFM program, and then I found your thread. I'm really glad to find another MFP'er who's also on the…

I have a Tanita BF-625 that I got ~9 years ago for ~$80. It also does body fat measurements. Its always been very consistent and accurate (at one point I actually checked it against the super accurate scale at my doctor's office, and also with dumbbells of known weight), and the resolution is .2 lb. The one I have is at…

I'm 5' 3.5" with a medium frame, and I go down on pant size every 5-7 lbs.

That looks delicious! I just had dinner but I could eat at least 3 of those...maybe 4 or 5...

Previously I had done that too, and had observed the same thing -- that's why I tried eating a small banana half an hour beforehand to see how it would affect my energy level. I was amazed at what a difference that made! The workout wasn't a struggle at all and I felt really strong the whole time. So ever since then, I've…

I have exactly the same comment! Every morning before breakfast I do an hour on the Stairmaster (45 min at an intensity is equivalent to ~8.8 mph, 15 min at an intensity equivalent to ~7.8 mph), and I eat a small banana (75 cal) ~ half an hour before I start exercising at ~6AM.

There's a lot of good info on that site! I've bookmarked it so that I can check it out later. Here's another macronutrient calculator that you can check out: http://www.scientificpsychic.com/fitness/macronutrients.html That's the calculator that I've been using. I also this one to calculate my protein requirements for days…
