  • How have you been doing, @pnrbor ? Share only as much as you are comfortable with, of course, but we are here for you. <3 I did start back at 'er again, weighing myself a couple times a week and cutting out night snacking so I can stick to my usual 18hr:6hr intermittent fasting. It isn't actually that much out of my…
  • True... until it does. All the hospitals are full, and people aren't admitted into the hospitals unless they are quite ill. Hoping you get through this relatively unscathed.
  • @psuLemon is it red onion fried up in your Jan 15 feta & tomato omelette? Or is it a bit of eggplant? Either way, looks delish.
  • Avocado hint.... Pick a firm (but not rock hard) avocado with a longer 'neck,' make sure the little stem end is still attached, and leave on the counter til you can just gently flick the stem out. You get more avocado flesh if you pick a longer fruit since the pit is in the round base. Avocado is so pricey, I just hate…
  • You and me both. Definitely DO weigh yourself tomorrow morning - it's your fresh start and the easiest way for you to know what progress you are making from now forward! I promise I'll do it too, and no more fresh OJ and vodka, leftover peppermint candy canes, or huge hunks of old cheddar late at night. Arise, Go forth and…
  • Re: soy....Can 1.5 billion Eastern Asians be wrong, lol. I think it's probably crap GMO soy (now called 'bioengineered') - 94% of the soy grown in the US according to the FDA - Nothing like a bit o' healthy weed killer built in to your food to disrupt the endocrine system.…
  • We also liked the Julian Bakery Paleo-Thin Wraps (even my hubby who is not low carb or needing to be gluten free.) You can get those at Whole Foods too. DEFINITELY NOT CHEAP. But they hold together really well and just take a 15 second warming on a paper towel in the microwave before you fill them. Here's a pic of the…
  • @solska did you get to try the Carbonaut bread? Not too shabby, eh? It takes me around 3 weeks to eat a loaf (I keep the slices frozen til I need a couple) so although it's pricey, it works out fairly cheap in the long run.
  • Hey, @FIT_Goat good to see your comment here on the forums again. Take some time to rest a bit for your own health & sanity. I understand as I've worked many years in Security, and RCMP Volunteer groups. 92 hrs is freakin' crazy. Deep breath, this too shall pass.
  • @k8richer (lol) this meme's for you...since you want more pictures. ;) :D ('cause this is right where I'm at now :o )
  • Good work, @cherylcc ! It can take a few years (especially as we get older - I will be 58 in just over a month) for our bodies to use up the extra no-longer-needed skin 'flappiness.' It's called autophagy and it's when our bodies break down unneeded/old cells and repurpose the amino acid protein chain components. Toning is…
  • No, I just snorkel, surf (not well, lol), and boogie board. A bit too cold to dive in January in the Azores anyhow. Also just cancelled the Thailand trip for our 40th anniversary in March. :( Bummer. Looking at a hiking trip to base of Annapurna range in late November.... haven't bought it yet, feeling like this is going…
  • Hi Sue, and welcome! The discussion threads that are pinned to the top of our forum are very helpful on what to expect and ideas on how to implement LC or Keto. Best start is here: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10103966/start-here-the-lcd-launch-pad#latest Also the 'What are you eating' thread on our LC…
  • Okay, here I am again joining in on a monthly check in....wish me luck as I generally HATE check in type of 'obligations.' I'll weigh myself in the morning when I get up, and go from there. Time to increase the water, and cut out the fresh orange juice (and the vodka that goes so well well with it.) Also ditch the Freybe…
  • I've been on here since 2013 and go thru more active periods when I feel like spending time on the forums chit-chatting, but also have long stretches when nothing new is happening, so not much to talk about. Since I've been a while in (sub-optimal) maintenance - meaning I've gained a bit over my preferred goal weight but…
  • Yikes, poor pup! Sounds like he was lucky. Accidental, I hope and not on purpose. I got my money back from the trip yesterday, so I've got a big credit on my Visa card I can use now. Yaay!
  • Hi Pete! Welcome! Like Baconslave says, the LaunchPad is extremely helpful especially if you are starting out, and I like the "What Does Your Low Carb Meals (sic) Look Like?" thread for inspirational food photos and some good ideas for quick meals that are LC or Keto.

  • Beautiful snow and sunshine here, but super cold for us thru into the beginning of January. Today and yesterday it was -27C when I got up to feed Lily. That's -17F. Too cold to go out tonight for the annual end of year lantern ski at our local x-country trails. Especially since we cannot gather in the big log chalet…
  • @sufferlandrian - you bet! In fact the only hwy open has now been closed this afternoon due to snowfall accumulations and commercial transport trucks spinning out and causing blockages and accidents. Where I am it is sunny and 6C, but the weather gets wrung out in the mountains between us and the Coast, so I'm not…
  • Hi all nightshifters! It's been awhile since I was on and yep, it's a bit of a chore to find stuff again. We never did get to Whistler as all Hwys to the coast were washed out and filled with mudslides, and bridges are gone. It's been almost a month since the 'atmospheric river' hit and dumped months worth of rain in just…
  • Your Parkinson's will likely affect your balance and muscle strength, so you might want to try exercise in the pool. Water walking or jogging in the shallower end or deep water run with a floatation belt on. This way you can strengthen your muscles, while not having to worry about your balance as much, and it takes less…
  • Hi type2sweety: Welcome back, you can get this done again. I also lost 35lbs on ideal Protein (2013), gained about 10 back (Thank you, Covid-19 Lockdowns) these past couple years. I still do low carb, maintenance under 100g. Since you lost the weight with ideal protein, do you still want to have support for low carb…
  • Just an update to the thread....no new info re: Celiac or Gluten Intolerance in my Medscape inbox....Covid is still top of the lists for studies and new info right now. Carry on, GF'ers!
  • Hi KeithBarrows: you could always add a can of Eden Black Soy Beans to your chili - they are 8g total carbs per 1/2 c with a 7g fibre count making them only 1g net. As long as you don't have an issue with soy (at least these are organic so non-GMO.)
  • Just a note here: RDA's for vitamins were set out when they finally figured out what the absolute MINIMUM was so you don't get deficiency diseases like rickets, pellagra, scurvy, beriberi, osteomalacia, etc. That doesn't mean you will be at your optimal levels if you hit the 100% of RDA. Check things out with your doctor…
  • I do low carb presently since 2013 and have done strict keto in the past, to lose my original 35ish lbs. I have Celiac disease so I found a workaround a loooong time ago for pastas and breads. I use Explore Asian edamame and mung bean pasta. https://explorecuisine.com/product-category/all-products/pasta/ Texture is like…
  • Wait til you try carrots again, they still taste like they've been dipped in sugar to me after over 8 years of LC. :)
  • We are down to cold and sunny now, only 5C today, with frost and below 0 temps overnights. I almost forgot about my tire changeover last Friday (I made the appointment 3 weeks previous), was on my way into town for other errands when we remembered and had to hurry back home to throw the winters into the trunk and back seat…
  • Hi @darleenturner - I tried to find a way to add you, but it only seemed to offer me a message option, so I'll try that next. We'll get this worked out, lol. ;)
  • Here we go again....Monday - 'Buckle Down Restart' day. *note to self* DO NOT take home the free chocolate milk and Toblerone bars from work any more! A little bit of tummy poof is hangin' over the waistband of the jeans again, gotta pay attention!
