  • I feel you on the rant. No one should EVER leave the premises with their horse on cross ties!. Even when I am leaving Willow there so she learns to chill out and relax I stay where I can see if anything goes awry. Horses can and do kill themselves in cross ties. Also, not cleaning up after your horse would get you kicked…
  • Why not try maintenance for a couple of months, see how you feel then try again to get down. First off that gives you a break from the weight loss counting, and also gives your body some time to adjust to its new place. Just a thought. I could be wrong. I have been before. pip
  • Hi, I am Vicki and Willow is my 7 year old TB mare that I bought 2 years ago as my present for losing 100 lbs. Since owning her I have lost an additional 35 lbs. She is really the only form of exercise I get...and today she gave me a work out. She wasn't listening to me at all so I had to chase her around the arena to…
  • I had the lap band in Sept 2010. I have lost 119 lbs and continue to lose weight. I know I may not be typical but it is still happening for me. I am losing weight extremely slowly, 1 pound or so a month (but it's loss not gain). I wouldn't consider reversing the procedure, and I would have it again in a heartbeat. Here's…
  • I've lost a model :) So glad to get rid of her, she was such a prissy witch!
  • Sad thing where I am, farm stands and farmer's markets here aren't a guarantee it is local. We have had sweet corn at those for 2 months now, and generally corn isn't ready in my area till late july/august. I also have seen berries still in their original Driscoll's package there. I would love to eat local. I am just not…
  • The FDA is not just going after natural products. They have done it with antibiotics that have been mainstays, steroid hormones, migraine treatments and all sorts of other products. The Big Pharma are not wanting to invest the millions into the studies the FDA is requiring, and therefore not just making products that have…
  • Are you working at all with a nutritionist? I know my program pushes protein, protein, protein. They recommend avoiding carbs like potatoes, pasta, and corn. (I hate that). But I know when I eat carbs I can pack in more volume than I can if I pick a protein source to eat. So I try to eat my protein first so that by the…

  • I had mine 3 years ago in Sept. I have lost 117 and am continuing to lose. What things have changed with your eating habits? Do you need a fill perchance? What sorts of things are you feeling like you need help with? pip

  • I have been on Armour for about 10 years now and I can't imagine going back. My Synthroid dose was CONSTANTLY being changed, and I never felt "right" on it. It took about 6 months to stabilize my Armour dose at 105 mg (for the past 7 years). I think my last Synthroid dose was 0.2 mg (crazy high). Folks on the Armour may…
  • Wow. I had my lap band done in Sept 2010. While my weight loss has been very slow (117 lb) over that time I am STILL losing weight. I never go to the doctor and have the scale read higher than it did the last time. I still struggle with my brain not understanding what is an appropriate amount of food. My stomach reminds me…
  • As I sit here savoring my mini pb cups I saved up for. I resisted the temptation to get subway cookies.
  • I am going to add a HUGE agreement with the person who said they wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. There is no listing of how much dessicated thyroid is in it. There is no FDA approval, which mean no safety or efficacy testing has been done. It contains bovine thyroid, and Armour is from porcine (pig) sources. I…
  • I have no idea at what point your doctor will put you on medication. Currently your thyroid hormone levels fall within normal range and your TSH is still quite low. The doc may be waiting to see that rebound. I would expect your appetite to decrease as part of hyperthyroidism is a ravenous appetite (sometimes I miss those…
  • You shouldn't need the cytomel with the Armour. I love my Armour personally and wouldn't go back to the synthetics. pip
  • I think that you feel better is so much more important than those numbers. Treat the patient not the labwork. Personally, I need my numbers a little closer to the high end of normal to feel good. I am glad that you are seeing positive progress. pip
  • That or maybe add some fruit to it. You are just the opposite of me. I hate those sweet light and whipped yogurts. Greek came along with more tang and substance and I was in heaven. I guess I missed the chalky taste buds. Pip
  • I love my lap band. It's a good tool. I still have to work. I still have to make good choices. I still can screw up. What I can't do is screw up with an entire pizza, or an extra value meal. I have no foods that I cannot eat in moderation. I have lost over 105 lbs since my surgery 2 years ago and am still working on it. I…
  • I honestly don't know what my levels are. My dose is of Armour and I take 105 mg daily. I have stabilize at that dose for the past almost 2 years. As far as levels go, I think each person feels better at different ones. Personally my T3 and T4 need to be high normal to slightly high for me to feel good. Since I switched…
  • Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Sense and Sensibility, The Count of Monte Cristo, Les Miserable, and To Kill A Mockingbird, off the top of my head. Pip
  • Armour has been back for a while. It sometimes goes through cycles where it is harder to find. When that happens I call every pharmacy in the area, an mix/match pill sizes till it is here again. Haven't had an issue finding it for a few years now.
  • Keep it up. I had a few months of out of whack getting adjusted to the armour and finding my dose. I personally love how I feel on it compared to the synthroid. Just keep talking. Glad your husband is supportive. pip
  • A calorie is a calorie. I can't remember the source but I read a project a professor did once where he ate nothing but twinkies and other junk food (except at dinner in front of his kids) and lost weight over a 3 month period. Eating healthier and maintaining protein at an appropriate amount is likely a better plan in the…
  • I too recommend seeing your doctor and making sure you are where you need to be with that. Also if you had a thyroidectomy, or I 131 that ablated the entire gland you may need more than synthroid. There is a synthetic T3 and a synthetic combination product, as well a natural (pig thyroid) product. I had the I131, and…
  • I didn't read through all the posts, but I will share my own story and I am sorry if this has been covered before. I was diagnosed with Graves (hyperthyroidism) and had radioactive idiodine treatment for that leaving me hypothyroid. I struggled with my weight, but also fatigue, hair loss, poor quality fingernails, etc that…
  • I am one of those people who weighs everyday. I don't get paranoid about little ups, even for a couple of days. What I have found is that if I am not on the scale that morning I will eat out of control. I need that accountability for myself. Your mileage may vary. pip
  • I know you have had lots of feed back already. I personally had Lap Band surgery over a year ago and have lost 100 lbs and counting. I joint MFP to track things and keep up with it and it helps (mostly because i hate logging bad food choices). I don't exercise as much now as I did before I hit the 100 lb mark because at…
