  • You're not increasing your weight loss. You're just increasing your risk of having a heart attack while you work out. The reason that wrestling teams don't use these suits anymore is because they are so incredibly dangerous. Get rid of the suit.
  • I'm SO glad you're here--you've been reinforced that your aunt's weight loss is her issue, not yours. Hold your head high, keep going on your own weight-loss path, and don't let her get you down. You're going to do really well, because you're owning your weight issues, and you're able to separate the truth from the…
  • Haley, I'm going to say this as gently as I can. As a registered nurse, and with a lot of background in working with people with histories of alcohol and drug use, I have to say that your problem isn't your weight. Your problem is alcohol. If you're drinking 5-6 beers per day, you have a drinking problem. Before you tackle…
  • H Cheryl! I'm glad to see you here. I just started on February 28, and have a long way to go, but I'm committed. Good job for doing this in spite of pain etc.--you CAN do this. I'm still on crutches for at least the next few months but have found that ANY movement at all is good for losing weight. I can walk for a few…

  • March 4 Did I exercise for 20+ minutes? yes--65 minutes of exercise bike, rowing machine, and walking with my crutches. Did I stay within my calorie budget? yes Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? yes Am I still eligible to win March's challenge? No, because I realized today that I failed to keep track of 25-50…

  • Stay with this challenge every day, lose 5-10 pounds by the end of March, get rid of one of my "fat" dresses, and fit into ANYTHING that's currently too tight.
  • Congratulations!!!!! You've worked hard to get here, and you're very motivating for the rest of us.
  • So far, so good, on day 2. Its easier for me to just nuke a pre-packaged meal in the microwave at this point for two meals, then fill in with veggies, apples, and so on. I'm committing to 70 minutes of cardio exercise per day, plus other exercise three to four days per week. I need to have my ankle replaced, and really…

  • Hi, Sharon, I'm 55 and recovering from a lot of leg surgeries. (Currently it's an ankle issue.) I'm still using crutches, not walking, and in PT. I may not be able to walk, but I can pedal on the exercise bike! It doesn't hurt my knees or hips at all, and I can adjust the rate if my ankle feels wonky. I have a TENS unit,…
  • It's encouraging to read the successes of others here. Thanks!
  • Hi, Caradae and Group! I started MFP yesterday, and found this group just a few minutes ago. What a great idea! I'm 55, trying to rehab from a lot of leg surgeries, and working on losing about 45 pounds. I'm still on crutches and a long way from walking, but I can get my cardio exercise on an exercise bike, so that's where…
  • Wow--I am SO impressed. Great job on taking this one day at a time and taking such great care of yourself.
  • I'd start with the one that gives you the biggest return--probably sugared soda. Stop drinking pop with sugar, and substitute with water to which you add fruit for a bit of flavor. Then add a new change each week. I'm just starting today, too.
