  • Subtract fiber from the carbs.
  • I plan on bringing some protein bars with me for the flight and just buy bottled water at the airport to go with, but you can bring any snack that meets with customs rules where you are going. I can't bring fruits, dairy, meat or veg, so this should work for me just for the flight. Packaged and processed foods are usually…
  • Most of my cooking is like yours. The meals I make most often and are staples I choose to measure and weigh until it tastes right to me. Then I can log my recipe and when I make it in the future I use the measurements. I know it will taste right, and I don't have much reason to deviate. If you are really worried about it…
  • Ok I made this, modified the recipe a bit, used whole wheat pasta, light cheddar and skim milk. I also drained most of the fat off the beef with a rinse with boiling water and washing out the pan. Turned out pretty good, not sure if it tastes like the real deal since I don't eat the stuff from the box, but it was good…
  • I got a soda stream because I love fizzy water. I just don't bother with adding syrup to it 99% of the time. I did get a few flavours that are sugar/sweetener free and one diet syrup, but mostly I just like it with nothing added.
  • I'm in Ontario here, add me if you like.
  • I just scrunch it up with my hands, I don't massage it in oil. The purpose of scrunching it up is to help break it down because it is a pretty tough leafy vegetable otherwise, makes it easier to chew, but I don't think alters the taste much, oil might make it taste better. If you don't like it then it doesn't make sense to…
  • I started where you are, 5'4, 233lbs. I am down 11.5 and it has been about a month since I started. Add me as a friend if you like. Logging food helps, being accountable to myself was a big motivator for me, as was adding a few friends on MFP. I eat foods that are not good for me on occasion and just make sure they fit in…
  • At the store he swore to me that he would make them for lunch the days he works from home, but it never happens because he would have to defrost the meat and turn on the stove. I eat a diet higher in fat and lower on carbs. I have issues with other prepared foods that have packets for sauce like Kraft dinner or those…
  • Thanks for this! My husband likes it, but it makes me sick to my stomach and I refuse to make it. Not sure what does it, but I bet this would be fine, looks pretty harmless. Maybe he won't notice if I throw out the boxes that have sat uneaten in our pantry for over a year because I can't stomach it.
  • I try to limit my carbs to about 100 grams a day and find that works well for me to deal with my PCOS but have room in my carb count so I can eat sweet potato, carrots, a slice of weight watchers bread, beans etc.
  • 34 degrees natural crisps. Not zero calorie, but 9 crackers is 35 cals and pretty low on carbs. If I want crackers to go with cheese or as a vessel for delicious things these are what I grab.
  • Sorry, was not meant to make fun. Most drugs for anxiety and depression can be brutal. I was more concerned it was being done without supervision from a Dr. and when I asked if she would attend counselling in conjunction to stopping meds I was told she didn't have time. If it worked great, no doubt about it, but I do get…
  • I agree, it is a thing and a concern for some, but what it means to me as a regular person without an inflammatory disorder is more what I wonder about.
  • Good to know! The list she was given was incredibly restrictive for food and just resulted in anxiety over planning mealtimes or figuring out what could be eaten when out of the house so it didn't last. The diet was recommended by a natural-path not a doctor, so how much medical knowledge they had I couldn't really say.
  • Omg yes! This, so much this! My sister in law went on an anti-inflammation diet to cure her anxiety...I never did grasp what exactly it was supposed to do to help.
  • I tend not to concern myself too much with the latest and greatest super food, or anti-inflamitory, antioxidant rich food. I think a lot of it is industry marketing and this fixation we have on food as medication. For sure proper diet is so important for health, but I think we like to believe in a magic cure a lot of the…
  • Adding coffee to any chocolate cake recipe, even mix from the box in place of water will really enhance the chocolate flavour. I do it pretty much to every chocolate cake recipe I have.
  • I like it in quiche with light feta and mushrooms.

  • Ooo I like the sound of that cold salad! Balsamic vinegar is amazing on everything.
  • I like to steam or grill it, no real need to add anything. If you are not the biggest fan of veggies brush it with a mixture of soya sauce, garlic and sesame oil and sprinkle with some sesame seeds when finished. Very good, i wrap it up in tinfoil and put that on the grill, but you can do it in a frying pan or George…
  • This is not a diet friendly cake, but I promise you won't be disappointed. I like to tort it with chocolate ganach and frost with chocolate swiss meringue buttercream I should note it is best baked three days in advance. It is rather crumbly on day one, but if you wrap up the cake rounds and let it sit for two days on the…
  • I think that all depends on how a person chooses to point it out actually. I can be told factual information in a fairly rude way and have a pretty negative response, or I can be told in a way that is considered polite by most, and I and more likely to be welcoming of that information; I think this is true of most people.…
  • I think there were a few harsh statements in this thread, namely that being overweight causes PCOS, this just is not true and kind of blaming her for her condition. Weight is at fault for worsening symptoms, but not the cause of the root issues. I think it is helpful to share that calories in and calories out help, low…
  • Wrong about only overweight women having pcos and weight causes it. I didn't get my period when I was a teenager. I was a healthy weight, I used to swim 24 laps of an Olympic sized swimming pool three times a week. I was fit, and I was 120 lb 5'4 woman. So no, just no. Are my symptoms worse now I am overweight, yes. But…
  • I have, love looking at those and nailed it photos of baked goods!
  • I decorate specialty cakes, but I make so many I don't really ever want cake anymore. So while I make a lot of them, I am kind of meh on cake and and I leave them at other people's houses! Want me to come to a baby shower and bring cake, birthday party? No problem, but under no circumstances will I take any left overs…
  • My husband has IBS, It was so bad as a child he had to be on muscle relaxants. As an adult it is much better, but dairy is certainly an issue for him and we avoid it. Oddly enough, he drank some of the vega nutritional shake I bought (and didn't care for) and he felt terrible after drinking it, had some of the worst…
  • I totally understand, I used to work 7-3 and breakfast was at 5:30 since I took the bus to work and it took over an hour to get there. Lunch was usually 11 and dinner time was at 6:00 when my husband got home from his 9-5. I always needed to snack, but some days I was pretty hungry/hangry and waiting that long to eat…
  • I try to eat lighter meals in the morning, a bit more in the afternoon and a very filling dinner otherwise I am just like you and starving at night! Odd question, but do you stay up really late and find this is when you are hungry? I often do since I am a night owl and find that if I am hungry at night, and I should have…
